A code P1682 -ignition switch circuit will pop up. I've had the problem for a year, the vehicle will seem like it doesn't have a lot of power at times. The engine light will come on, reduced engine power and traction control off. The battery voltage drops below 13 . I have changed the battery, alternator, throttle body, gas pedal sensory. It does all of that while driving, and starts to stall on me. That code popped up once last year and i took it to the shop and they said it wouldn't come up and it's doing it a lot more. I have did research and have seen many issues with a fuse block and ignition switch.

Motor home / camper body. Parked for the winter. Plugged in but occasionally run to ensure batteries are charged. Vehicle has 25,400 miles on it. Outside air temperature about 20 f. Started vehicle and dash displays warnings: engine operating at reduced power and engine overheated a/c turned off. Scanned the ecm for codes and was able to clear these two malfunction indicators. The tool also revealed a premiant code of "P1682 (1/1), ignition 1 switch circuit 2". Module # : $7e8 and module# $7ea. This code will not clear until a repair is made. Research reveals that this ignition problem is prevalent among many makes and models of Chevrolet and gm vehicles between the years from 2014 to 2018. And could cause the vehicle to stall while being driven. Research also shows that this problem generally occurs when the weather is warmer. Not when it is as cold as it was when my malfunction occurred. Oddly, in spite of the prevalence of this problem among chevy and gm vehicle for those years, there has never been a recall.

A life and safety issue! With no warning the vehicle will suddenly shut off. It does not matter if you're moving on the freeway or parked, it is very intermittent and only happened three times in the last 6 to 8 weeks. Two different mechanics said error it's code P1682 is the fault but it will not duplicate the symptoms. I contacted chevy corporate and they knowledge other vehicles this year have a recall but claim mice vin number is not affected and will do nothing. Hey fuel vehicle is in safe and do not want my family in it until i am certain it will not suddenly shut off while they are in motion.

2014 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE with 68000.0 miles

I was entering the on-ramp going east and my vehicle completely stopped. I was going around 25-30 mph and i had my kids in the car. My computer forced my brakes and i was unable to drive the vehicle. My suv literally made a full stop while driving at 25-30 mph with my kids in the car and no brake lights ignited. The check engine light and the traction control light came on. They eventually turned off. This happened one other time. I was driving on a residental street and the vehicle stopped again. My husband whom was driving the car said the car just stopped in the middle of the intersection. He tried pressing the traction control button because the check engine light and the traction control light came on and the brakes were forced again and nothing. Imagine going 25mph and stopping abruptly without brake lights for other cars to see. This time i did research and i saw that other 2014 chevy Traverses were recalled for the chassis module (recall number 14v614000). I saw youtube videos and i checked several consumer the complaint websites and i literally saw over 10 other complaints about the same issue this month! I also put a reader in my vehicle and the two codes that come up is P16AA & P1682. One is for the electronic module system in which the chassis (pertaining to the recall) is listed under). I called the dealer and they said that the recall was active for 2014 chevy Traverses..... But not mine! I am completely disgusted. These vehicles will kill you - literally and they know it, and they refuse to do anything about it! Now i'm paying a car note and i can't even drive it - for the safety of my family, others, and myself. Shame on them - again this is happening to other people! This is a urgent request for help!

While in motion vehicle check engine light will come on with the following messages. Stabilitrack off, traction control off, engine power reduced. Car will not accelerate above 40 mph. Car will slightly shake while this happens. Car will some times also shut off completely and not restart until codes have been cleared. This has happened on several occasions starting in february 2017. I have been told it needs a new wiring harness, new powertrain control module, new fuse box due to water intrusion, water is stated to come from cracked windshield but windshield has been replaced before and problem persisted. Fuse box has been replaced. Pcm and ignition switch have both been replaced. Gives code P1682 which is ignition 1 switch circuit 2 code. Two document #s have shown up when running diagnostic check (4583190 and 4184289)

Engine power reduced, service stabiltrak, traction control off messages appear after driving car over 30 min. Engine light comes on and stays on along with stabilik track light. No codes being rpeorted when taken to dealer 2x. Happened 5x in a 20 minute drive, doing 55-60mph and drops to 20 mph with hardly any steering ability. Battery gauge drops below average, car idols like it is going to stall. Pull over, turn key off, rest starts up again with engine light still on. Very dangerous situation. Cleaned throttle from any build up (hardly any) checked fuses, however did not check wiring to fuse box (may be the issue) problem has been going on since june 2017. Dealer depending to much on diagnostic code reader, which it is not recording. Only one was P1682 and they said it was fine

Update of nhtsa id number: 10809089. The stabilitrak and reduced engine power has increased to the following obd codes: P0010, P0122, P0202, P0233, P0335, P0455, P0340, P1682, P2089 as well. At this point there doesn't appear to be anything left on the vehicle that does work. Since the recalls and technical bulletins all appear to have been "completed" for this vehicle i guess i can look forward to repeating the same problematic repairs again and again for the remainder of the time that i own this vehicle which do not appear to have resolved but merely band aided away until they reappear. Even the drivers door switches all had to be replaced which tells me that this is related to an electrical problem and with so many complaints the matter had forced consumers to pay for repairs that were designed to fail without regard to the consumers safety nor financial burdens. It appears that the electrical issues which most are directly linked to the defective engine wiring harness and grounding issues as many technicians are reporting. At this point the truck needs to be totaled.

2010 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 3500 with 19700.0 miles

Sometimes when attempting to start the engine, it will turn over but not start. The malfunction indicator light comes on and a engine reduced power message will illuminate. If the engine starts, it will run rough, the light will be on and stay on, and the engine reduced power message will appear. I had a mechanic check for any codes and he came up with P1682, which indicates an ignition switch problem. Gm has a recall out for this condition (11273), which refers to the throttle position sensor causing this problem. However a faulty ignition switch causes the same problem, but they won't fix it. If the vehicle is being driven when this problem occurs with the loss of engine power and rough running, it seems that the vehicle, in my case an rv, would lose speed and almost slow to a stop which would be very dangerous. Gm recognizes that this problem can occur, but are not concerned that it can occur under more than one condition. Unless the code comes up 11273 as the problem, they will take no responsibility to fix it even though the code 1682 produces the same situation causing the malfunction light to come on and stay on and the message engine reduced power to appear and the engine runs rough or won't start at all.

I was driving when vehicle lost power and car shut off. I put the car in neutral and restarted the motor and this has happened on a few occasions. More recently, at times car will not turn over or crank and the check engine light comes on. Then suddenly the car cranks and after some time has passed the check engine light shuts off. I took the car to the dealership and they told me it was the battery. I replaced the battery at the dealership but it still does the same thing. I took the car back to the dealership but the dealership said they could not find the problem. So i took the car to another mechanic and he told me it was the ignition 1 switch circuit 2 (code P1682).

On may 3rd 2010, the truck just died in the middle of the road while driving home with my son at night. I had to quickly try to get to the side of the road without any power assist. The envoy would not start again, not even turn over. The shifter was locked and it could not even be put into neutral to push it over to the side. Various messages scrolled by on the vehicle display and many of the warning lights were dimly blinking. I had to get it towed. I scanned the following codes P1516 & P1682, looked up the symptoms on the internet and found many hits that said the issue was with a faulty ignition switch. After charging up the battery which ran down on the hazards while waiting an hour for a tow, i replaced the ignition switch and the envoy now works again. It has less than 30,000 miles on it. This type of failure concerns me very much! I consider it a huge safety issue that a vehicle can die while driving and then be so completely disabled by a $30 part. This could of had much more dire consequences had it happened on a freeway as opposed to a suburban side street.
