2014 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE with 60079.0 miles

This is the 3rd time in the last 2 years that the airbag indicator has come on. Vehicle just passed 60k miles. This time the error code i was given B0022. All of these problems appear to be due to issues with the connectors underneath the front driver and passenger seats. I will now be bringing the vehicle to be returned for the 3rd airbag problem. It would be helpful if gm would address this.
AIR BAGS,

2014 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE with 38500.0 miles

Dealer has told me that the vehicle registers an error code of B0022. According to the dealer, gm tells them to check four wires on the connectors to the front passenger seat wiring harness that causes the check airbag warning light to illuminate. Specifically, gm tells the dealer to solder the connections on the four wires on the connector. The dealer has also told me that if the warning light for the air bag system is illuminated, none of the airbags will deploy. In my opinion this is a serious design flaw. If the airbag warning light is illuminated and you have an accident before the problem is corrected this could result in major injuries. Also, a connector termination problem is a manufacturing defect and should be corrected by the dealer, especially in a critical safety system such as the airbag system.

2014 BUICK ENCLAVE with 50472.0 miles

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to rick hendrick chevrolet norfolk (6252 e virginia beach blvd, norfolk, va 23502, phone number: (757) 266-5804) where it was diagnosed that the air bag had shorted out and code B0022-0d was found. The pressure seat belt resistance was too high and dielectric grease needed to be added to the electric connector of the seat belt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 50,472.

2014 GMC ACADIA with 55100.0 miles

On saturday evening august 3, 2019 my wife, who was driving our 2014 Gmc Acadia, reported to me that a red air bag warning light and the message "service air bag" came on and remained on while driving. On sunday august 4, the warning light and message went off during the day when i was driving the vehicle, but later came on when my wife drove the vehicle during the evening. On monday august 5 while i was driving the Acadia, both the warning light and message "service air bag" came on and stayed on while driving. On monday august 5 i drove the Acadia to a gm dealership as soon as it opened. The dealership said there were two diagnosis codes for two separate failures relating to the air bags. The first was code B0022 (which the dealership said was related to a wiring failure). The dealership advised this failure code of B0022 was covered under warranty pursuant to gm special coverage adjustment number 15804. The dealership said that the second diagnosis code was B0058 (which the dealership said was a failed sensor). The dealership said that both of these problems needed to be fixed in order for the airbags to work. The dealership said, however, that replacement of the sensor was not covered under adjustment 15804. The dealership did offer a discounted charge for replacement of the failed sensor and as of this writing the vehicle remains at the dealership to make all repairs necessary for the air bags to work. I have advised the dealership of my intention to report the sensor failure issue to ntsb so that ntsb and gm are aware of it. I have also reported the above to gm customer assistance and am awaiting a return call from a "senior advisor". I have also requested that gm cover all costs relating to the sensor failure as well as the wiring failure as i have been informed by the dealership that both relate to the failure of the air bag system.

2012 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 with 50513.0 miles

12/15/2020 - noticed 'service air bag' warning in morning as i pulled into parking for work. When leaving for lunch no warning on - as i pulled out of parking warning appeared again - as i leaned forward to read - loud 'bang' and was pulled back into seat by hard retraction of seatbelt. Followed by smell of burning. Parked car, struggled to get out of seatbelt - looked around for damage - nothing - only seatbelts stuck retracted. Drove home carefully - plugged in obd 2 reader - four codes; B0015-04, B0022-00, B0052-04, B101D-00. First two indicate seat belt pretensioner deployed, third is deployment command, final is ecu hardware. Took to ase shop and was informed that the control unit indicated a collision - there was no collision - and belts were deployed. Asked what caused this and response was computer error....I am just thankful i was moving at 5 mph vice 65 on the highway. Gonna cost $2500 to fix replacing seatbelts and srs control unit, and a few day to get over a bruised shoulder

2011 GMC ACADIA with 80637.0 miles

I took our 2011 Gmc Acadia, mileage 80,637, to the dealership on 12/16/2017 because the display showed "service air bag." the service technician reported that he found dtc B0022 and B0015 stored in sdm, tested circuits, good. He found excessive resistance in both front seat belt anchor pretensions and recommended replacement of both front anchor pretensioners, cpa connectors with leads and reprogram the sdm. Repair estimate of $1,164.51. Charged $125 to diagnose. It was explained to me that the pretensioners are connected to and communicate with the air bag. In addition, the service technician found the front engine mount weak. Repair estimate of $447.85. The seat belt pretensioners and "service air bag" appear to be significant safety issues. I contacted Gmc on 04/23/2018 to request repair assistance and to inquire if there was a recall, case # 8-4111443314. I was advised that i would have to pay out of pocket.

2009 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 1500 with 72000.0 miles

I'm from an independent repair shop. I have recently had problems with this 2009 express van. It has for no reason that i can tell. Deployed the side air bags while backing the vehicle up a driveway @ less than 5 mph. To give you a little history about the vehicle. The customer purchased the vehicle from a used car dealer approximately 6 month ago. The first problem with the vehicle was with the stabi-trac & reduced power light came on . We hooked up are tech-2 scan tool an retrieved the codes an diagnosed the problem with the steering wheel position sensor and the throttle position sensor. We repair those issues and sent it on. A little over a month latter the customer was driving the vehicle down a paved road @ 50- 55 mph on a near straight away. And it deployed the side air bags & seat belt pretensioners . The customer got it repaired at a body shop which replaced side air bags, seat belt pretensioners, side impact sensors & air bag module. Now roughly a week later it deployed the side airbags again while backing up a driveway in reverse to pickup his wife. I have the vehicle now and retrieved the codes ( B0052/ B0023 / B0022 / B0016 / b015 / B0090-71 ) does gm have problems with this type of vehicle? And i'm wondering can a rollover sensor malfunction an cause this to happen. Going by the code B0090 i have removed the carpet on the vehicle and found moisture under the carpet next to the rollover sensor. I removed it and found no corrosion at the wiring or connector. And the modules is a sealed module. Can anybody pull the crash data out of the airbag module so i can tell what parts are all need to be replaced. Any incite would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE with 37000.0 miles

Dash airbag service light periodically illuminated. This condition (to date), has not resulted in logging any diagnostic fault codes, i.E.; dtc(s) B0012, B0013, B0016, B0016, B0019, B0020, B0022, B0023, B0026, B0033, B0040, B0042 or B0044, this illuminated service light fault is only rectified when either; a) i manually re-positioning the driver's seat until the light turns off, or b) i physically re-positioning the yellow (side-airbag) connector located under driver's seat. Either method results in only a temporary resolve, before the problem occurs again. I assume this issue could also be true for the passenger seat too. By service notice / vin#, gm acknowledges a potential / real airbag issue in my vehicle, dated may 2016. Based on the referenced may 2016 gm service notice, and further substantiated via phone communication, gm requires that a specific diagnostic fault code be present before gm will cover any service coasts to resolve this issue. This, while knowing the existence of an impending safety issue, described in the may 2016 service notice, is uniquely independent of any requirement there must be a diagnostic fault code detected. Gm needs to accept ownership of this acknowledged well described issue. In this instances, gm shifts coast responsibility for this potential/real safety issue to the car owner. My research indicates that this issue is not unique to the Chevrolet c6 Corvette, but rather systemic throughout gm model types. Current dealer estimate charges to perform fault diagnostics only (no fault code present), is > $290.00, plus tbd addition repair coasts. What's wrong with this scenario?
