Introduction
Some 2010 - 2013 mode l year GX 460 vehicles equipped with 1UR-FE engines may exhibit a MIL
"ON" condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (OTC) P0418, P2440, P2442, and/or P2445 prese nt.
T he Secondary Air Injection Pump fi lter a nd A ir Switch ing Valve Assembly have been modified to
reduce the possibility of this condition occurring . Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to
improve this condition .

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
• This repair is covered under the Lexus Federal Emission Warranty. This warranty is in effect
for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the veh icle's in-service date.
•
For California specification vehicles sold, registered, and operated in California, Connecticut
(starting with '08 MY), Maine (starting with '04 MY), Maryland (starting with '11 MY),
Massachusetts, New Jersey (starting with '09 MY), Oregon (starting with ' 09 MY), Pennsylvania
(starting with '08 MY), Rhode Island (starting with '08 MY), Vermont, and Washington (starting
with ' 09 MY), this repair is covered under the California Long-Term Emission Warranty. This
warranty is in effect for 84 months or 70,000 miles , whichever o ccurs first, from the vehicle 's
in-service date.
• Warranty applicatio n is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Using Techstream, check for stored DTCs. Confirm one or more of the following DTCs
are prese nt:
• P041 8 - Secondary Air Injection System Control "A" Circuit
• P2440 - Secondary A ir Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Open Bank 1
• P2442 - Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Open Bank 2
• P2445 - Secondary Air Injection System Pump Stuck Off Bank 1

2. If one or more of the above OTCs are present, replace the specified parts based on OTC as
described below.
• If OTC P2440 is present, repla ce the Secondary Air Injection Valve Assembly (Bank 1) and
Secondary Air Injection Pump (steps A and C).
• If OTC P2442 is present, repla ce the Secondary Air Injection Valve Assembly (Bank 2) and
Secondary Air Injection Pump (steps B and C) .
• If OTC P0418 and/or P2445 ONLY are present, replace the Secondary Air Injection Valve
Assembly (Bank 1), Secondary Air Injection Valve Assembly (Bank 2) , and Secondary Air
Injection Pump (steps A, B, and C).
