Tech Line Summary Article October 2016 ATS 160715 Version 2 Engine Overheats AFFECTED VEHICLES 2011−16 Odyssey, 2009−15 Pilot, and 2009−14 Ridgeline EDITOR’S NOTE: This article replaces the one posted in July 2016 to extend the article’s shelf life. The issue(s) covered are still being addressed. If the engine is overheating and there’s engine oil mixed in the coolant reservoir, chances are the cylinder head may be cracked. A crack may form under the front and/or rear camshaft at the journals and is a rare occurrence. You can see this crack from visual inspection. It causes engine oil to enter the cooling system and coolant to enter the engine lubrication system. Replace the cylinder head if you find it’s cracked. © 2016 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. – All Rights Reserved Page 1 of 1
