GROUP NUMBER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 17-AT-002 DATE MODEL Technical Service Bulletin FEBRUARY 2017 GENESIS SEDAN (BH/DH) GENESIS COUPE (BK) EQUUS (VI) GENESIS G80 (DH) GENESIS G90 (HI) SUBJECT 8-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL : This TSB supersedes TSB 14-AT-005 to add 2017 Genesis G80 (DH) and Genesis G90 (HI). Description: The following vehicles are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The ATF level can be checked by the procedure shown below. Applicable Vehicles: 2012~16 Genesis Sedan (BH, DH) 3.8L/4.6L/5.0L, 2012~16 Equus (VI) 5.0L 2013~16 Genesis Coupe (BK) 2.0L/3.8L 2017~ Genesis G80 (DH) 2017~ Genesis G90 (HI) PARTS INFORMATION: Part Name Description Part Number Hyundai SPH-IV-RR 8-speed ATF 00232-19052 NOTICE Use only ATF meeting the SPH-IV-RR specification approved by Hyundai. Do not use SP-III, SPH-IV or other ATF which may result in degradation of shift quality. WARRANTY INFORMATION: Normal warranty applies ATF LEVEL INSPECTION: 1. Remove the plastic shield under the transmission. 2. If the ATF has been completely drained, go to Step 3. To check the ATF level, go to Step 5. Circulate To: Service Manager, Warranty Manager, Service Advisors, Technicians, Fleet Repair 8-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL SUBJECT: 3. Turn the engine off, shift to Neutral and lift the vehicle on a hoist. Use an 8mm or 5/16” hex wrench and remove the fill plug and washer. 4. Remove the overflow plug. Use a fluid pump or suction gun to add SPH-IV-RR ATF through the fill plug until ATF flows from the overflow plug. Reinstall the overflow plug and fill plug. . NOTICE Use only SPH-IV-RR ATF, P/N 00232-19052. 5. Attach a GDS and select vehicle, Data Analysis, A/T menu and Oil Temperature Sensor. Move the shift lever from P-R-D and back to P. Drive the vehicle until the ATF is at the low end of the range of 122~140°F (50~60°C). TSB #: 17-AT-002 Page 2 of 3 AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE TCM UPDATE 6. Start the engine, shift to Neutral and raise the vehicle on a hoist. Remove the fill plug and overflow plug. Add SPH-IV-RR ATF through the fill plug until the ATF flows out the overflow. Reinstall the overflow plug. Torque: 16~18 lb-ft (2.3~2.5 kgf.m, 21~24 N.m) Reinstall the fill plug and washer. Torque: 27~33 lb.ft (3.7~4.6 kgf.m, 33~44 N.m) ATF TEMPERATURE = 122~140°F (50~60°C) SHIFT LEVER IN “N” AND ENGINE RUNNING Maintenance Schedule: Driving Condition Normal service Severe service ATF Maintenance No inspection or replacement Replace ATF every 60,000 miles Severe service is defined as: Frequent driving on mountain roads Repeated short distance driving of 5~10 miles Frequent driving in heavy traffic or stop-and-go conditions with extensive idling for long distances Trailer towing or commercial operation such as a taxi TSB #: 17-AT-002 Page 3 of 3
