PURPOSE
A customer may report that the Bluetooth pairing code given by the Hands Free Link system does not
work for certain smartphone models, namely, Samsung Galaxy and Sony Xperia®. For these models,
the pairing code for Bluetooth® connection must be set to a fixed code of “0000.”
This TSB instructs dealers how to register these smartphones using the pairing code “0000.”

PAIRING PROCEDURE FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY & SONY XPERIA® SMARTPHONES
NOTE: The pairing instructions below are an EXAMPLE of those for a 2015 Outlander equipped with the FUSE
Hands Free Link system. For more details on the procedures for an individual model or audio/navigation
system, refer to the vehicle Owner's Manual, or the Display Audio or Navigation system Owner's Manual.
USING VOICE COMMAND
Follow the basic instructions below to pair a phone to the Hands Free system using the voice
command function, and to set the code to “0000.”
1. Stop the vehicle in a safe area, put the selector lever in the “P” (PARK) position and apply the parking
brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch or operation mode to ON or ACC.
3. Press the SPEECH or PICK-UP button.
4. Say “Setup.”
5. Say “Pairing Options.”
6. Say “Set code.”
7. Say “Fixed.”
NOTE: Depending on the vehicle, the pairing code (also called “passkey”) may have a factory setting of “1212.”
8. The voice guide will say “Please say a 4-digit pairing code.” Say “0000.” The voice prompt will repeat
the code and ask you to confirm the number. Say “Yes.”

9. The voice guide will say “Start pairing procedure on the device. See the device manual for
instructions.” Enter into the phone the 4-digit code “0000” (usually in the phone's Bluetooth
Settings, “Hands Free System.”)
10. Follow the remaining voice prompts as desired for the individual phone.
NOTE: To start the procedure over at any time, press the Hangup button.
USING DISPLAY AUDIO ON-SCREEN COMMANDS
NOTE: The pairing instructions below are an EXAMPLE of those for a 2015 Outlander equipped with the FUSE
Hands Free Link system and Display Audio. For more details on the procedures for an individual model or
audio/navigation system, refer to the vehicle Owner's Manual, or the Display Audio or Navigation system
Owner's Manual.
Follow the basic instructions below to pair a phone to the Hands Free system using the Display Audio
on-screen commands, and to set the code to “0000.”
1. Stop the vehicle in a safe area, put the selector lever in the “P” (PARK) position and apply the parking
brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch or operation mode to ON or ACC.
EXAMPLE: From Display Audio Owner's Manual
3. Press the “HOME” (or “MENU”) key.
4. Touch “Setting” on the display audio screen.
5. Then touch “Bluetooth Setting.”
6. Touch “Set Passkey.”
7. Enter the 4-digit code “0000” then touch “Enter.”
8. Touch “Register Device” and proceed as directed
on-screen to register the individual phone.
