TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Dirt/Dust And/Or Ice Accumulation At The Bottom Inside Of Doors 18-2339 09 November 2018 This bulletin supersedes 17-0056. Reason for update: New Part/Procedure For Same Condition Model: Ford 2015-2018 Edge Summary This article supersedes TSB 17-0056 to update the Service Procedure, Parts List, and vehicle model years affected. Issue: Some 2015-2018 Edge vehicles may exhibit dirt, dust and/or ice accumulation at the bottom of the inside of the front and/or rear door openings. This may be due to extended driving on non-paved or slushy roads. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. Labor Times Operation Time No. Description 2015-2018 Edge: Replace Both Rear Door Opening Weatherstrips And Install Both Front Mini Mud Flaps (Do Not Use With Any Other Labor Operations) Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: 5828124 Condition Code: 01 Tool List Tool Name Trim Tool Erasable Marker Ruler 182339A 0.6 Hrs. Service Procedure Apply the procedure to both rear doors. 1. Using a non-marring trim removal tool, remove the 7 push pins securing the rear door body mounted weatherstrip. 2. Pull the rear door body mounted weatherstrip away from the flange and discard. 3. Using a clean shop rag, clean any dirt that may have accumulated along the rear door body mounted weatherstrip channel where the weatherstrip was removed. 4. Using an erasable marker, measure in a straight line and mark a distance of 45 cm (18 in). (Figure 1, Callout A) Figure 1 5. Fold a piece of grip tape in half along the long direction. Peel away the tape backing. Starting from the marked position, apply the grip tape around the metal weatherstrip channel, with half of the tape on each side. Press the tape firmly against the channel to fully seat the tape. (Figure 1) 6. Install a new body mounted weatherstrip by starting from the top and pushing the 7 push pins into the door opening frame. Slide the bottom half of the body mounted weatherstrip onto the flange. 7. Using an erasable marker, measure in a straight line and mark a distance of 17.5 cm (7 in) on the inside of the rear door. (Figure 2, Callout A) Figure 2 8. Peel away the tape backing of the foam patch and apply to the door with the bottom of the tape hitting the marked position. Press the patch firmly to seat it. (Figure 2) 9. Raise the vehicle. Refer to WSM, Section 100-02. 10. Using a non-marring trim removal tool (RTTP or equivalent), remove the 9 push pins securing the lower door weatherstrip assembly. 11. Replace the lower door weatherstrip assemblies by starting from the front and pushing the 9 push pins under the lower door channel. (Figure 3) Figure 3 12. Tuck the bottom of the body mounted weatherstrips inside the lower rocker weatherstrip. 13. On both sides, remove and discard the lower retainers from the left and right side rocker panel moulding end caps located behind the front tires. (Figure 4) Figure 4 14. Install the mini mud flaps under the rocker panel moulding end caps using a new lower retainer. (Figure 5) Figure 5 15. Lower the vehicle.
