Issue:
Customers may complain of engine oil leaks as the timing chain cover plug has become loose or come
adrift over time. JLR has seen a recent increase in complaints about this issue.
Cause:
Unsuitable surface finish on white coloured plugs prevents it from providing a sufficient seal.
Action:
If the above condition is observed the plug should be replaced with the latest part available from EPC JDE36593. The new component will be black in colour, this is not a cause for concern as the part has
been modified to improve the surface finish.
Should an issue develop with a modified BLACK timing cover plug please create an EPQR for this issue.
