From 2PCVS3494BC711772 up to 2PCV3349XJC710119 incl. CAUTION For the rear fenders, one component has to be welded on the vehicle. Follow the multiplex modules disconnection procedure prior to welding. The procedure is described into the maintenance manual associated with the vehicle. CAUTION It is important to never make aluminum components in contact with stainless steel components. Contact between these two materials may result into galvanic corrosion. Kits include rubber strips to be installed between these materials. Order the kit according to the fender position on the vehicle. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. NOTE Material can be obtained through regular channels. Dismount directional signal light (top light). 2. Keep the light and screws (2) in a safe place. FIGURE 1 3. With a black permanent marker, mark a ‘’T’’ on the light connector (Top). Remove the mounting nuts, the Belleville washers and flat washers. 8. Discard the fastener. FIGURE 5 9. On the upper left corner of the fender, remove the rivet with a drill bit #11. FIGURE 6 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 6 / 53 10. Move the light connectors behind the fender. 11. Slide down the fender and discard it. FIGURE 7 12. With a drill bit #11, remove rivets on all existing guide supports (4). 13. Discard all guide supports. 14. Repair the existing structure if necessary. 15. Clean the mounting surface and install new guide supports PN #470880 (4) with new Pop rivet PN #504793. FIGURE 8 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 7 / 53 16. Clean the surface of the vertical structural poles adjacent to the front service compartment door. FIGURE 9 17. Screw it until it blocks. FIGURE 11 20. Install four new rubber nuts (item A, Figure 12). 21. Install new grommet PN 504529 (item B, Figure 12). 22. Run both light connectors through the fender. Connector marked with a ‘’T’’ runs through the top hole and connector marked with a ‘’B’’ runs through the bottom hole. FIGURE 12 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 9 / 53 23. Install the new fender on the vehicle. Slide up and make sure all four guides are inserted into the top guide supports. FIGURE 13 24. Install the new flat washers, new Belleville washers and new nuts with the adjustment washers (3 locations). Do not tighten. FIGURE 14 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 10 / 53 25. Insert a Philip screwdriver to position the fender with the structure hole. Keep it in place. FIGURE 15 26. Install rubber strip PN 280421 on the pole adjacent to the front service compartment. 27. Position vertically the strip with its lower face flush with the lower face of the horizontal bottom tubing. 28. For the longitudinal position, mate the middle lip of the strip with the side face of the fender (see Figure 17 that shows the bottom view). FIGURE 16 FIGURE 17 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 11 / 53 29. Install rubber strip PN 280419 on the pole adjacent to the first baggage compartment. 30. Position vertically the strip with its lower face flush with the lower edge of the vertical tubing. 31. For the longitudinal position, mate the middle lip of the strip with the side face of the fender (see Figure 19 that shows the bottom view). FIGURE 18 FIGURE 19 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 12 / 53 32. Use adjustment washers (3) to make the fender surface as much as possible flush with the front service compartment door surface and the baggage compartment door surface. 33. Tighten the nuts (3). FIGURE 20 34. Install rivet PN 504793 (item A, Figure 21). 35. Split grommets PN 478900 (2) with scissors and install it on the fender as shown in Figure 21 (items B). Remove the mounting nuts, the Belleville washers and flat washers. 45. Discard the fastener. FIGURE 27 46. Dismount the finishing moulding between the existing fender and the entrance door (7 screws). 47. Discard the moulding and the screws. FIGURE 28 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 18 / 53 48. Move the light connectors behind the fender. 49. Slide down the fender couple of inches to allow disconnection of the entrance door opening switch connector. 50. Disconnect the entrance door opening switch connector. 51. Discard the fender with the switch. FIGURE 29 52. Remove existing fender rubber bumper and discard. FIGURE 30 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 19 / 53 53. Clean the rubber bumper support mounting faces. FIGURE 31 54. With a drill bit #11, remove rivets on all existing guide supports (4). 55. Discard all guide supports. 56. Repair the existing structure if necessary. 57. Clean the mounting surface and install new guide supports PN #470880 (4) with new Pop rivet PN #504793. FIGURE 32 58. Cut a chamfer ¼’’ x 45⁰ at the bottom of the existing vertical tubing adjacent to the entrance door. FIGURE 33 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 20 / 53 59. Clean the surface of the vertical structural pole adjacent to the first baggage compartment door FIGURE 34 60. Install new fender adjustment washer (3). 61. Screw it until it blocks. FIGURE 35 62. Install the new entrance door opening switch on the new switch holder PN 479710. FIGURE 36 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 21 / 53 63. Install the switch and the holder on the new fender with 2 new screws. FIGURE 37 64. Prepare the installation of the rubber bumper special support PN 470175. FIGURE 38 65. Position the special support as shown in Figure 39. FIGURE 39 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 22 / 53 66. Use 2 vice grips to hold the special support in place. 67. Drill 3 holes 5mm diameter. Use the special support as a template. FIGURE 40 68. Fix the special support with 3 rivet PN504793. FIGURE 41 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 23 / 53 69. Install the new rubber bumper PN 479423 on the special support. FIGURE 42 70. Install rubber strip PN 506236 on the vertical pole between the entrance door and the fender to prevent contact between aluminum fender and stainless steel structure. FIGURE 43 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 24 / 53 71. Cut the strip to fit at the bottom of the pole. FIGURE 44 72. Install new rubber nuts PN 502774. FIGURE 45 73. Run both light connectors through the fender. Connector marked with a ‘’T’’ runs through the top hole and connector marked with a ‘’B’’ runs through the bottom hole (see step 40 and step 43 for these marks). 74. Connect entrance connector. door opening switch FIGURE 46 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 25 / 53 75. Install the new fender on the vehicle. Slide up and make sure all four guides are inserted into the guide supports. FIGURE 47 76. Install the new flat washers, new Belleville washers and new nuts with the adjustment washers (3 locations). Do not tighten. FIGURE 48 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 26 / 53 77. Install rubber strip PN 280419 on the pole adjacent to the first baggage compartment. 78. Position vertically the strip with its lower face flush with the lower edge of the vertical tubing. 79. For the longitudinal position, mate the middle lip of the strip with the side face of the fender (see Figure 50 that shows the bottom view). FIGURE 49 FIGURE 50 80. Use adjustment washers (3) to make the fender surface as much as possible flush with the entrance door surface and the baggage compartment door surface. 81. Tighten the nuts (3). FIGURE 51 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 27 / 53 82. Split a grommet PN 478900 (2) with scissors and install it on the fender as shown and for both light wiring. FIGURE 52 83. Install finishing moulding on the pole between the entrance door and the new fender. Install one screw at the top hole, one screw in the middle hole and one screw at the bottom hole. NOTE The other holes (2) have to be drilled into the structure first because the configuration of the holes is not the same as the old finishing moulding. FIGURE 53 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 28 / 53 84. Drill 2 holes 1/8’’ diameter through the existing structure. 85. Tap both holes #6-32. 86. Install screws (2). FIGURE 54 87. Install these components above the lights and after the painting is done. 89. Bulletin is complete for the front curb side fender. Move down the fender and discard it. 93. Repair existing components if necessary. FIGURE 59 94. With a drill bit #11, remove rivets on all existing guide supports (5). 95. Discard all supports. 96. Repair the existing structure if necessary. 97. Clean the mounting surface and install new guide supports PN #470880 (5) with new Pop rivet PN #504793. FIGURE 60 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 33 / 53 98. Clean all fender locks (3) with air pressure jet or water jet. Make sure the spring is working well and replace it if necessary. FIGURE 61 99. Remove the whole existing rubber strip on the pole between the fender and the baggage compartment. FIGURE 62 100. Clean the surface with a scraper and with antisilicone product. FIGURE 63 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 34 / 53 101. Clean the inside walls of the longitudinal tubing at the bottom of the baggage compartment. 102. Insert fender bumper support assembly PN 220130 into this longitudinal tubing as shown in Figure 64. FIGURE 64 103. Keep a gap of 2 mm between the existing tubing and the new support as shown in Figure 65. FIGURE 65 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 35 / 53 104. Use a flat bar to horizontally align the bumper support. FIGURE 66 105. Use a flat bar to laterally align the bumper support. FIGURE 67 106. Weld the bumper support with the speciation shown in Figure 68. FIGURE 68 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 36 / 53 107. Grind the welding to make it flush with the adjacent surfaces. FIGURE 69 108. Insert nylon nut PN 5001009 into the bumper support square hole. 109. Install the bumper and screw it fully. FIGURE 70 110. Loosen the screws (5) of both door lock support at the bottom. Keep the supports in place with the screws. FIGURE 71 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 37 / 53 111. Loosen the screws (3) of door lock support at the middle top. Keep the support in place with the screws. FIGURE 72 112. Install the new fender on the vehicle. Slide up and make sure all five guides are inserted into the guide supports. 113. Push the fender panel on the middle top and make sure the fender locking pin is locked. 114. Repeat previous step at the left bottom and at the right bottom of the fender. Adjust the height of the fender in the middle and then tighten the screws that support the lock. FIGURE 74 116. Fender locks in the bottom allow vertical and transversal adjustments. Make sure the exterior surface of the fender is flush with the baggage door exterior surface. Fasten the screws (3) that fix the lock support to the structure. Make sure the exterior surface of the fender is flush with the radiator door exterior surface. Fasten the screws (3) that fix the lock support to the structure. On both sides of the fender tighten the screws that fix the bottom locks to the support. FIGURE 78 121. Install rubber strip PN 289558 on the pole between the fender and the baggage compartment. Align the strip with the fender in place as shown in Figure 79. The bottom of the strip is flush with the bottom of the existing structure. FIGURE 79 122. Clean the mounting surface of the pole between the fender and the radiator compartment. 124. Install half rubber strip on the pole between the fender and the radiator compartment. Align the strip with the fender in place. 125. Cut to fit the half strip at the bottom of the pole as shown in Figure 81. 126. Bulletin is complete for the rear driver side fender. FIGURE 92 142. Use a flat bar to laterally align the bumper support. FIGURE 93 143. Weld the bumper support with the speciation shown in Figure 94. Install the bumper and screw it fully. FIGURE 96 147. Loosen the screws (5) of both door lock support at the bottom. Keep the supports in place with the screws. FIGURE 97 Writer: ML IS-15075 Page 49 / 53 148. Loosen the screws (3) of door lock support at the middle top. Keep the support in place with the screws. FIGURE 98 149. Install the new fender on the vehicle. Slide up and make sure all five guides are inserted into the guide supports. 150. Push the fender panel on the middle top and make sure the fender locking pin is locked. 151. Repeat previous step at the left bottom and at the right bottom of the fender. Adjust the height of the fender in the middle and then tighten the screws that support the lock. FIGURE 100 153. Fender locks in the bottom allow vertical and transversal adjustments. Make sure the exterior surface of the fender is flush with the baggage door exterior surface. Fasten the screws (3) that fix the lock support to the structure. Make sure the exterior surface of the fender is flush with the electrical compartment door exterior surface. Fasten the screws (3) that fix the lock support to the structure. On both sides of the fender tighten the screws that fix the bottom locks to the support. FIGURE 104 158. Install rubber strip PN 289558 on the pole between the fender and the baggage compartment. Align the strip with the fender in place as shown in Figure 105. The bottom of the strip is flush with the bottom of the existing structure. FIGURE 105 159. Clean the mounting surface of the pole between the fender and the rear electrical compartment. 161. Install half rubber strip on the pole between the fender and the electrical compartment. Align the strip with the fender in place. 162. Cut to fit the half strip at the bottom of the pole as shown in Figure 107. 163. Bulletin is complete for the rear curb side fender. FIGURE 107 FIGURE 108 LABOR TIME Time to perform the installation is 2 hours per fender plus 1h15 more for each rear fender for disconnection of the electrical system before welding.
