• Recall 133681 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Prevost cars, inc. (prevost) is recalling certain 2010-2018 h3-41, h3-45, h3-45 vip, x3-45, x3-45 commuter, x3-45 vip, and x3-45 vip entertainer vehicles, equipped with certain kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. • Recall 138344 [USA]: If the fuel tank separates from the vehicle, it could be a road hazard and the vehicle would stall. either scenario increases the risk of a crash.
  Prevost cars, inc. (prevost) is recalling certain 2008-2018 h3-41, h3-45, h3-45 vip, x3-45, x3-45 vip, x3-45 vip entertainer, and xl2 motor coaches. The fuel tank cradle supports may have gaps at the points where the cradle connects to the coach frame, which can allow the attachment bolts to loosen and fail causing the fuel tank to fall from the vehicle.

• Recall 109921 [USA]: Contact between the fuel line and the coolant line may cause a fuel leak and result in fuel spraying onto hot exhaust components increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire.
  Prevost cars, inc. (prevost) is recalling certain model year 2012-2016 h3-41 and h3-45, 2011-2016 h3-vip, 2011-2016 x3-45 coach vehicles, 2012-2016 x3-vip vehicles, and 2011-2013 xl2 entertainer vehicles. The coolant line on the affected vehicles may be missing a positioning clip, allowing the coolant line to rub against the braided fuel hose at one of the injectors.
  prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel line for abrasion, replacing it as necessary. The fuel and coolant lines will be properly secured.   Marathon coach, inc. (marathon) is recalling certain model year 2001-2013 marathon conversions prevost xl, and h3 motorcoaches equipped with sure power-brand battery equalizers or dc-dc converters containing a particular epoxy sealing, aka 'potting', compound. The specific potting compound used in the subject products for insulation was found to be capable of conducting electricity after being exposed to heat.

In the affected vehicles, the windshield wiper motor housing may crack resulting in a loss of windshield wiper function.

Certain conditions may cause the affected coaches to go into a software mode that would result in the throttle signal being fixed at 1700rpms regardless of throttle pedal input from the driver.

There is the possibility that the afss could unintentionally activate due to wear of the linear thermal detection cable.

  On certain buses outfitted with automatic fire suppression system (afss) linear thermal detectors (ltd), the routing of the wiring for these systems could be compromised by normal engine compartment temperatures. If this were to occur, it could result in the afss system activating and giving a false warning to the driver, potentially resulting in a stopped vehicle, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.   On certain vehicles, the engine calibration for the “limp home” mode was inadvertently set too high at 1750 rpm instead of 1200 rpm. Should the “limp home” mode be activated, the increased idle speed may cause sudden and unexpected acceleration, which could result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to slow or stop the vehicle if the transmission is not shifted into neutral. This could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will install updated engine calibration software.

• Alternator front bearing failure investigation # PE21011

  Nhtsas office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation after reviewing field reports concerning alternator front bearing failures that cause elevated temperatures within the engine compartment, resulting in the fire suppression system (fss) activating, immediately shutting the engine down, and rendering the bus inoperable.Analysis of the data provided by prevost car (us) inc. Showed high failure frequency and thermal events. An immediate shutdown of the bus can increase the risk of a crash or injury of bus occupants. In response to this investigation, prevost car (us) inc. And volvo bus corporation decided to conduct recalls 22v-221 and 22v-222. By submitting part 573 defect information reports on april 6, 2022, prevost car (us) inc. And volvo bus corporation notified odi of a safety defect in certain model year (my) 2010-2023 prevost h3-45; x3-45; x3-45 com; h3-45 vip: x3-45 vip and 2020 volvo 9700 vehicles; some of these buses may have experienced thermal events after failure of the alternator front bearing, because the alternator belt continues to turn the alternator after the bearing failure.These recall actions address the safety concern that led to the opening of this investigation.Therefore, with these recall actions, this investigation is closed. The recalls encompass all model and my vehicles addressed by the investigation. However, the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist in other model or my vehicles outside of the recall scope. The agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
