Writer: EL IS-20089 Page 3 / 23 PROCEDURE DANGER Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position. Lock out & Tag out (LOTO) must be performed during set-up, maintenance or repair activities. Refer to your local procedure for detailed information regarding the control of hazardous energy. Writer: EL DRILLING & CUTTING TEMPLATE PREPARATION 1. Assemble the drilling & cutting template as shown in Figure 1. FIGURE 1 PREPARATION 2. Open the sliding door. Remove the strike plate mounted on the wall. 3. Discard the striker plate. Keep the mounting screws for reuse. FIGURE 2 4. Discard the piece of rubber. FIGURE 3 Writer: EL IS-20089 Page 5 / 23 5. Removal completed. FIGURE 4 6. Remove the vibration damper shown. 7. Discard the rubber piece. 8. Keep the steel plate and hardware for reuse. FIGURE 5 9. Remove and discard the existing handle/latch assembly, spacers, etc. FIGURE 6 Writer: EL IS-20089 Page 6 / 23 10. Unscrew cylinder. and discard the rubber FIGURE 10 14. Using a tool like the one shown below, cut the internal round plastic piece where shown on the image. FIGURE 11 15. FIGURE 13 DOOR PREPARATION WITH DRILLING & CUTTING TEMPLATE EXTERIOR SIDE (PASSENGER SIDE) 17. Place the drilling & cutting template, arrow down, on the exterior side of the lavatory door. 18. Drill seven 1/8 holes identified with the following symbol cutting template. ᴖ on the drilling & FIGURE 15 DOOR PREPARATION WITH DRILLING & CUTTING TEMPLATE INTERIOR SIDE (LAVATORY SIDE) 21. Drill seven 1/8 holes identified with the following symbol cutting template. on the drilling & FIGURE 17 CUTTING OUT PATTERNS 24. Cut out the previously traced cutting patterns. APPLY LOCTITE ON 502506 THREADS BEFORE FASTENING TO 402213. INSERT A SLIM ROD IN BOTH THUMB BUTTONS HOLES TO TIGHTEN Writer: EL MOLDING INSTALLATION 27. Install the two-part MOLDING as shown. Deburr the joint once separated. FIGURE 32 28. Reinstall the new vibration damper 402216 as previously installed with existing plate and hardware. FIGURE 33 Writer: EL IS-20089 Page 20 / 23 NEW STRIKER INSTALLATION 29. Install the new striker as shown in the image in place of the previous one. Install with two shims 402233 between 402215 and 901893. 30. Leave screws 5001198 slightly loose to allow movement of plate 402215. FIGURE 34 FIGURE 35 31. Close the door so it latches. The striker plate should now be positioned so the striker is centered in the catch. Once properly positioned, tighten screws 402215.
