Use proper hand protection when handling. Keep coolant out of reach of children and animals. Failure to follow
these precautions can cause serious illness or death. Special tools: 85112740, 9996049

4. Remove the bolts, the thermostat housing and the thermostat. Carefully clean the thermostat seat and all
cylinder head-to-thermostat housing mating surfaces. Note: The position of the thermostat depends if the
vehicle has retarder or not.
Installation
1. Install the new thermostat. Note: Make sure that the rubber seal remains properly seated.
2. Position the thermostat housing to the cylinder head, install the bolts and torque-tighten to 24 ± 4 Nm (18 ± 3 ftlb). Specifications: 24 ± 4 Nm (18 ± 3 ft-lb)
3. Install the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing and to the radiator. Position the clamps and tighten to
secure.
4. Using the coolant extractor, fill the cooling system with the recommended coolant. Special tools: 85112740
5. Start the engine, check for leaks and proper operation. After shutdown, replenish fluids as necessary.
