Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 3 / 10 NOTE The procedure below applies to Sigma-style seats factory equipped with a backrest grab handle. For Sigma seats not equipped with a backrest handle, the partition will have to be secured either by the use of screws or by the addition of handles similar to the factory ones (refer to part table above for correct part numbers and required quantity). Both options will require some drilling of the seat backrest at specific positions. Follow the drilling information’s provided at the end of this procedure to ensure correct installation. Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 4 / 10 DANGER Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. Lock out & Tag out (LOTO) must be performed during set-up, maintenance or repair activities. Refer to your local procedure for detailed information regarding the control of hazardous energy. PROCEDURE WITH FACTORY INSTALLED GRAB HANDLES 1. Remove the seat handle screw caps using a sharp blade or a small pick. Caps are tight, be careful not to damage them. NOTE: Window side Only remove the top screw cap. 2. Unscrew the handle. If present, do not lose the 2 small washers that may be stacked between the seat body at the top handle mounting point. NOTE: Window side Only remove the top screw, leave the handle in place, secured by the lower screw. 3. Remove the 4 screw that hold the safety belt guide on the opposite side of the seat. NOTE: Window side Due to the window proximity, an angled drill or similar tool like an impact screwdriver with right angle adaptor is recommended. Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 5 / 10 4. Remove the partition protective film and place the partition in position. Slide it between the headrest and the handle/safety belt guide. 5. First reinstall the safety belt guide making sure that the two center screw bosses are inserted in the partition angled tab slot. Partially screw each 4 screws and tighten alternately until the guide is firmly secured. 6. Reinstall the handle screw(s), (pass the screw(s) through the partition drilled hole(s)). If they were present make sure to reinsert the small washers behind the partition at the top hole. 7. Put back the screw cap(s). Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 6 / 10 8. Left and right aisle partition: Install decal #7771102 centered on the lower part of the partition. PROCEDURE WITHOUT FACTORY INSTALLED GRAB HANDLES 1. First remove the 4 screws holding the safety belt guide on the opposite side of the seat. NOTE: Window side Due to the window proximity, an angled drill or similar tool like an impact screwdriver with right angle adaptor is recommended. Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 7 / 10 2. Remove the partition protective film and place the partition in position. Slide it between the headrest and the handle/safety belt guide. 3. Reinstall the safety belt guide making sure that the two center screw bosses are inserted in the partition angled tab slot. Partially screw each 4 screws and tighten alternately until the guide is firmly secured. This will also hold the partition in place for the next steps. NOTE: Make sure that the top part of the partition is leveled. 4. Put some masking tape on the backseat under the partition mounting hole(s) (to reduce risks of fraying) and drill the backseat taking care nor to elongate or ovalize the partition hole(s) in the process. To install the partition using mounting screws with plastic caps, use a 5/32 to 3/16 in drill bit. To install the partition using a grab handle, use a slightly larger 13/64 to 7/32 in drill bit NOTE: Window side The window side partition only has one hole. For installation using a grab handle, a 2nd hole will need to be drilled at the lower mounting point of the handle. Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 8 / 10 5. FOR INSTALLATION USING SCREWS: Secure the partition using #508401 washer(s), #504399 cap trim plastic washer(s) and #500337 screw(s). Do not over torque the screws. 6. Clip the #504400 plastic caps over the screw heads to finish the installation. OR 7. FOR INSTALLATION USING HANDLE: Secure the partition using a #865358 grab handle, do not over torque the handle screws. NOTE: Window side For the window side handle installation, a 2nd hole needs to be drilled at the lower mounting point. Install handle with top screw then use handle lower hole as a template to drill 2nd hole in the backseat. Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 9 / 10 8. Install the handle screw caps to finish the handle installation. 9. Left and right aisle partition: Install decal #7771102 centered on the lower part of the partition (installation with handles shown). PARTITION CLEANING AND DISINFECTION RECOMMENDATIONS CLEANING: First installation When the partitions are first installed, glazing compound and masking paper adhesive can be easily removed by applying naphtha (VM &P) or kerosene with a soft cloth, followed immediately with a thorough soap and water cleaning. DO NOT USE GASOLINE. Adherence to regular and proper cleaning procedures is recommended to preserve appearance. Regular Cleaning Wash the partitions regularly with a mild soap or detergent (dishwashing liquid) and lukewarm water using a clean sponge or a soft cloth. Rinse well with clean water. Dry thoroughly with a chamois or moist cellulose sponge to prevent water spots. Do not scrub or use brushes on these products: their coating is UV-resistant, not mar-resistant. Never dry wipe a dirty surface. Fresh paint splashes, grease, and smeared glazing compounds can be removed easily before drying by rubbing lightly with a grade of VM&P Naphtha or isopropyl. Afterward, a warm final wash should be made, using a mild soap or detergent solution and ending with a thorough rinsing with clean water. Minimizing Scratches Scratches and minor abrasions can be minimized by using a mild automobile plastic polish. It is suggested that a test be made on a sample of polycarbonate sheet with the product selected and that the manufacturer's instructions be followed. Writer: mg IS-20922 Page 10 / 10 Some Important "Don’ts” • DO NOT use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners on polycarbonate sheet products. • Never scrape polycarbonate sheet products with squeegees, razor blades or other sharp instruments. • Benzene, gasoline, acetone, or carbon tetrachloride should never be used on a polycarbonate sheet products. • DO NOT clean polycarbonate sheet products in hot sun or at elevated temperatures. DISINFECTING: Recommended disinfectant • ALCOHOL BASED Use of alcohol-based wipes or sprays or soaked cloths containing a maximum of 70% alcohol – Contact time 30 seconds. • HYDROGEN PEROXIDE Hydrogen peroxide-based spray or wipes with a 3 to 5% concentration – Contact time 2 minutes minimum. Not recommended • BLEACH (sodium hypochlorite) Regular use of low concentration bleach solution may harm the finish of the partition over time. Contact of the solution (droplets or over-spray) with the seat fabric may cause discoloration. In any cases, never expose the partition surfaces to bleach solutions containing more than 10% bleach concentration. Do not use • AMMONIA Ammonia (frequently found in glass cleaners) is incompatible with the partition material and will cause yellowing and/or fading problems as well as surface crazing. Writer: mg
