MAINTENANCE INFORMATION DATE : SUBJECT : Revision: A December 2020 MI20-19A SECTION : 05 COOLING INTRODUCING A NEW ENGINE COOLANT INTO SERVICE Mention added concerning DDC Series 60 engine SCA requirement Jan. 14 2021 APPLICATION Model VIN All Prevost vehicles DESCRIPTION A new engine coolant is being introduced in Prevost service centers. NEW PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Engine coolant: SHELL ROTELLA ELC NF pre-diluted 50/50 (Extended Life Coolant, Nitrite Free) Color: Red NOTE The color of the cooling liquids is only an added dye. Color does not represent a chemical incompatibility. So cooling liquids of different colors can be mixed. COMPATIBILITY Meets Volvo GTT requirements and approved by DDC Detroit Diesel Corporation. Therefore, use this new coolant for both Volvo D13 engine and Detroit Diesel engine. Writer: ELMI20-19A Page 2 / 3 COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER COOLANTS Shell ROTELLA ELC NF Pre-diluted 50/50 is miscible and compatible with other engine coolants (antifreeze). Dilution/mixing with non-equivalent coolants will reduce or eliminate the extended life properties. Therefore, do not mix this new cooling liquid with more than 20% of non-ELC coolant. Do not use a coolant filter containing Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCA). On Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine, supplemental coolant additives (SCA) must be maintained at DDC recommended levels.
