Update Engine ECU SW
This is to notify you of the Service Campaign LAUNCH for certain Model Year 2012‐2014 Mercedes‐Benz vehicles of various platforms. The
vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as “OPEN” on April 12, 2019.
Background
Daimler AG (“DAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes‐Benz vehicles, has determined that on
certain Model Year (“MY”) 2012 ‐ 2014 Mercedes‐Benz vehicles of various models (117, 166,
172, 204, 207, 212, 216, 218, 221, 222, 231, 251, and 463 platforms) the software of the Engine
Electronics Control Unit (“ECU”) may not meet production specifications, which could result in
a Malfunction Indicator Light being displayed while no fault is present in the control unit. An
authorized Mercedes‐Benz dealer will update the Engine ECU software for the affected vehicles.
MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the
Engine ECU software on the affected vehicles.

Daimler AG (“DAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously
repaired.

Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.
Approximately 212,237 vehicles are affected.

1. Connect XENTRY Diagnosis.
2. Update engine electronics (ME-SFI) control unit software.
To do so, select menu item "Quick test view

Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
