Original publication. Technical Background Sporadic poor air flow from Vent Air Ducts while driving. Possible freezing Evaporator. Service 1. Check the following when the concern is present: a. Connect A/C gauges to monitor the A/C pressure. b. If the A/C is ON, switch it to the OFF position. c. Make sure the defrost mode is OFF as well. 2. If the gauges still show A/C Compressor -V454- operation: a. Disconnect the A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -N280- to see if the Compressor shuts OFF. 3. If the Compressor still shows operation after disconnecting the -N280-: a. Replace the -N280-. 1 Technical Tip 87-16-02TT – Sporadic Poor or No Air Flow from Vent Air Ducts while Driving - Evaporator Freezing Transaction No: 2044979/4 Release date: 9/26/2019 4. If the -N280- is not able to be replaced: a. Replace the Compressor and perform the A/C flush per Technical Bulletin 2019947 (87-18-06). b. Review Technical Bulletin 2043704 (87-18-10) for “A/C Compressor Replacement, GFF Performance Test Required Regardless of Concern”. If the condition is not caused from the Evaporator freezing, further diagnosis will be required to check operation of the blower motor and HVAC adjustment motors.
