Armrest in center console (front) only opens on one side or not at all.
Cause:
Valid for vehicles up to October 2019 production date:
Cause 1: The hook on which the pop-up spring is hooked into may be broken.
Cause 2: The pop-up spring could not be correctly hooked into the catch hook. Consequently, it may have slipped off
its shaft.
Valid for vehicles as of November 2019 production date:
The pop-up spring could not be correctly hooked into the catch hook. Consequently, it may have slipped off its shaft.

Remedy:
Valid for vehicles up to October 2019 production date:
- Replacement of component part.
- Before installation of the replacement part, hook the pop-up springs into hook 3 (see picture in attachment).
Valid for vehicles as of November 2019 production date:
- To identify the fault remove the air vent in the rear passenger compartment (as per AR83.10-P-4802ME). This enables the catch hook and springs to be inspected visually (see picture in attachment).
- If a spring has slipped off the hook, hook the springs on both sides correctly into hook 3.
- Depending on the position of the springs, it may be possible to hook in through the opening of the rear air vent without having to remove the armrest.
The component part should only be replaced in instances of irreparable damage such as a breakage. Here too, before installing the replacement part, hook the pop-up springs into hook 3.
Valid for all vehicles:
Hooking the pop-up springs into hook 3 means that the opening period of the armrest may be reduced.
When hooking in the spring make sure that it is positioned correctly behind the catch hook (see picture "Wrong and
correct installation of spring").
