Service Technical Information 13/16 ENU 9769 Eliminating Symptoms in Body Interior: Checking Cable Routing in Front Center Console Area and Reworking it if Necessary (Speedometer needle in instrument cluster shaking/SY1316) Vehicle Type: 9 All Cayenne (92A) All Panamera (970) Model Year: As of 2010 up to 2017 Information: When you switch on the ignition, the speedometer needle in the instrument cluster shakes when the interior lights are activated. The electric wire for the ashtray light or storage compartment light may be routed in a way that may cause the wire to chafe and/or be pinched. This may also result in the lights not working. Causes and Remedial Action Cause Electric wires for the ashtray and/or storage compartment lights, which are supplied with power from the instrument cluster via terminal '58d' may be chafed/pinched. Remedial action In the event of a customer complaint, check electric wires for the ashtray and storage compartment lights for the following: • are they under tension and show signs of chafing • are they pinched • are the terminal connections secure so they do not vibrate more with the road if so, rework or correct the wire routing as necessary. Replacement of the instrument cluster is not necessary.
