• Recall 231729 [USA]: Improperly adjusted headlights may not illuminate the road properly, or cause a glare to oncoming drivers, which can increase the risk of a crash.
  Porsche cars north america, inc. (porsche) is recalling certain 2003-2020 porsche macan, cayenne, panamera, and cayman s, 2001-2004 boxster, boxster s, 2004 boxster 50 jahre spyder 550 vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of all affected models and model years. The caps that cover the low-beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws are missing, which can allow the headlights to be improperly adjusted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

  Issue: on certain vehicles, the transmission shifter could detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Safety risk: sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the shifter cable bushing. Owners are reminded to use the parking brake anytime the vehicle is parked.

  Issue: on certain cars, water could leak into the air conditioning blower control unit. Over time, this could cause a short circuit that could cause it to melt or burn. This could happen while driving or after the vehicle is parked and shut off. Safety risk: a short circuit in the blower control unit could create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: porsche will notify owners by mail and advise them what to do. When a remedy is available, owners will be requested to bring their car to a dealership for repair. Owners are advised to park their car outdoors until the recall repairs have been completed.

  On certain vehicles, the fasteners of the camshaft adjusters could fail due to an assembly problem. If this occurs, this could cause abnormal engine noises, vibrations, illumination of the check engine light and could cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the fastening screws of the camshaft adjusters and if necessary, replace the camshaft adjuster assemblies.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

I received a urgent safety recall for possible water intrusion into the air conditioning unit. The recall note they i should only park my vechle do to possible fire danger. Car was taken to carlsen porsche in redwood city california (7/10/2019) they looked at the car and said i was indeed part of the recall and they would replace the part. After a day they said they did not have the part that they told me they had when i brought the car in. Clearly they were hoping to not have to replace it or just was poor management and overbooked more cars than parts available. The complaint is that they did said, they had no idea when they would have the part as porsche was not providing them with any information and told me to go home. They would let me know when they ever get it. There was a clear lack of care about the recall and treated it like just a pain and yes, the car may catch on fire but there was nothing they could do about it. I am not sure if their plan is to hope those of us effected will not be able to take more time off if the part comes in and they will never have to replace it. Or they are just trying to wait people out and they will just give up. I would appreciate that this is addressed as i am sure i was not the only one treated like this

The contact called porsche downtown la at 213-536-4354 (located at 1900 s figueroa st, los angeles, ca 90007) and was informed that the parts were not available.
