Bulletin #: 2007.1 Advanced Technical Information Part ID: 2785 2 Adaptive Cruise Control Disengages Along with a Warning and Fault D00002 Vehicles Affected Models Model Year Model Type VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment All As of 2012 all N/A Adaptive Cruise Control Revision History Revision Release Date Changes 0 April 30, 2020 Original document 1 May 1, 2020 Update of Technical Background Condition The customer complains that during long trips, adaptive cruise control (ACC) disengages and displays a warning message. The customer may report that a significant portion of the trip had: (1) bad weather, (2) few other vehicles present, or (3) few turns or hills. The workshop finds fault code D00002 (Sensor Blind) in the Adaptive cruise control (ACC) ECU. Technical Background This condition occurs by design. This is not a product defect. Multiple conditions may cause this issue: 1. Ice/Snow: If ice or snow blocks the distance sensor, the ACC system recognizes that it is ‘blind’ and will disengage and display a warning message unless the blockage is cleared. Of course, this ice and snow will likely not be present during the workshop evaluation. 2. Featureless terrain/few other vehicles: If the road is featureless (i.e. there are very few turns and hills) and the radar does not see another vehicle or object for an extended distance or time, it will also assume it is ‘blind’ and disengage with a warning message. This is a limitation of the system.
