• Recall 231720 [USA]: Improperly adjusted headlights may not illuminate the road properly, or cause a glare to oncoming drivers, which can increase the risk of a crash.
  Porsche cars north america, inc. (porsche) is recalling certain 2003-2020 porsche macan, cayenne, panamera, and cayman s, 2001-2004 boxster, boxster s, 2004 boxster 50 jahre spyder 550 vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of all affected models and model years. The caps that cover the low-beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws are missing, which can allow the headlights to be improperly adjusted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

• Recall 2016131 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, a circlip at the brake pedal hinge may not have been installed at the time of assembly. This could allow the pivot pin to move out of position, which would allow the pedal to wobble, and could fracture the brake pedal pivot through continued use. A fractured hinge would allow the pedal to separate from its pivot, which could lead to impaired brake function and increase stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and add a circlip as necessary.

• Pedestrian alert sounds investigation # DP22005

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

• Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation # EA21002

  From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). Our turn signal sound is so low that we do not realize that the signal has remained on since our last turn. It has caused oncoming traffic to stop unnecessarily and following traffic to pass inside assuming we were turning left. Both situations have caused near accidents.

42,000 miles on the 2016 cayenne gts. $110,000 original sticker. Transfer case needed to be replaced ($5,000+ charge). Service rep told me they replace 5 transfer cases each week at just their dealership. Clearly a defect that should be subject to recall. He knew in 5 seconds what the problem was when i originally called to schedule an appointment. Porsche usa refused to take responsibility for the cost of repair. Warranty expired 5/31/19. Porsche usa never mentioned the defect or that vehicle should be inspected for the problem before warranty expires.

Vibration from vehicle causes ear damage to occupants, whether vehicle is stationary or moving.

Blower is keep starting and raising itself. When we open the driver door it is shutting it off. Dealer is unable to identify the issue and fix it it occured on a 72 degree temp day, moring. Car was parked in the garage and was not used for previous 2 days. It happend many times and towed to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong with it

Upon completion of modifications due to volkswagen/audi/porsche 3.0l diesel emissions settlement program the vehicle has an intermittent delay when accelerating. This delay is unpredictable and can be several seconds in duration. Once acceleration is applied it is too much power and again unpredictable in results. Appears to be related to outside temperature. Over 80(f) is when most troublesome. When crossing intersections and accelerating to get on the highway is when the safety aspect is obvious.Porsche has stated this is a normal aftereffect from the modification and my vehicle is working within the parameters set forth by the carb agreement.

Car lost all acceleration and engine shut completely off happens frequently. Car on separate occasion sieved and shook violently to a stop on the road multiple times.

Vehicle has auto engine off when stopped. Feature is on by default. Driver must remember to cut feature off each time vehicle is cranked. On several occasions this feature has been hazardous. When stopping on open road to turn across traffic the steering wheel binds when power is lost. When in line at drive thrus or in slow traffic, vehicle lunges as the engine starts back. The default for this feature should be off. It is a safety issue and we are told by dealer decision was in response to support published epa fuel standards.

Last week i had my car for 20000 mile service and the technician noticed vibration with acceleration and advised the transfer case be replaced which was done 10/28. I contacted porsche usa as i was concerned with this being a relatively new vehicle and the problem with transfer case so fast.I was told it was a manufacturing defect and the transfer case was replaced with a re manufactured one and not a new one. When i wrote to them i was contacted today and told that was not a possibility. This being a relatively new well maintained vehicle and this being a manufacturing defect i prefer a new transfer case and extended warranty. I believe that is very reasonable. Can you please look into the matter and advise
