E286 Engine Model Year 2021B and later PACCAR MX-11 & MX-13 Fuel Injector Adjustment During First C Service Number Edit Clone E286 Section Engine - 45 Subject Engine Model Year 2021B and later PACCAR MX-11 & MX-13 Fuel Injector Adjustment During First C Service Date 3/22/2022 Condition Engine Model Year (EMY) 2021B and later MX-11 and MX-13 engines need an injector recalibration at the first C service. (150k miles for line haul or 60K miles for Vocational / Severe Duty / Refuse / Delivery) Chassis Affected All Model Year 2022 Model 365, 389, 520, 567, and New Model 579 chassis equipped with Engine Model Year 2021B and later MX-11 & MX-13 engines. Action If a customer comes into your dealership and requests this calibration as part of the first C service, follow the procedures below to recalibrate the fuel injectors. If the chassis is beyond its first C service interval, this test should be performed at or before the next scheduled service. E286 will show as completed in SIR after a claim is processed. Warranty Through Standard Warranty or any applicable active Extended Warranty, Peterbilt will pay for applicable labor. Please refer to the attached glovebox card (Y53-1326-1A1) for specific coverage time limits. For Dealers using the PRWS Warranty Application, select the Quick Claim from the Recommended Repair section. 0.4 hours labor to calibrate Injectors using DAVIE4, no engine (PCI-2) software update required. Use Quick Claim Code E286A. 0.8 hours labor to update engine (PCI-2) software and calibrate Injectors using DAVIE4. Use Quick Claim Code E286B. E286B only available if engine (PCI-2) software requires an update as described in Step 4 in the Procedure Section. Claim story must include engine (PCI-2) software version before and after update. Claim code E286B only applies to chassis built prior to 01/10/2022 This bulletin only applies to the injector recalibration task performed during the first C service. Mileage and hour recommendations for C service have not changed. This injector calibration is to ensure the MX engines run at designed efficiency and power levels. Procedure Please follow your dealership's safety procedures and precautions to ensure the vehicle can be safely repaired and maintained. Refer to E282 for identification of EMY2021B engines. EMY2021A engines do not require this procedure. NOTE Before beginning this procedure, complete all other tasks in the C service (150k miles for line haul or 60K miles for Vocational / Severe Duty / Refuse / Delivery) according to RMI and Service Manuals. This calibration procedure only needs to be completed at the vehicle’s FIRST C service. (See RMI “Maintenance Activities” chart, Note 5) Ensure that your DAVIE4 version is at the latest available version. 1. Start engine to warm up to operating temp. (coolant above 122°F / 50°C) 2. Visually check fuel system for leaks while engine is running. 3. Connect DAVIE4. 4. In DAVIE4, navigate to the Verify the Injector Calibration test under Repair Support. If the Injector calibration test is not available in DAVIE4, the PCI software needs to be updated to the latest available version. Update the engine software if necessary. Ensure DAVIE4 is up-to-date. Refer to bulletin E134 for information about programming a PACCAR MX engine. 5. Run the Verify the Injector Calibration test. 6. Engine must be running (idle) and at operating temperatures. (coolant over 122°F/50°C) 7. Engine will run up to 1200RPM until the test completes. 8. DAVIE will show results for each injector. Service is run successfully, and compensation is applied. Any other messages in DAVIE4 are listed in RMI along with corrective actions. 9. Shut down engine and disconnect DAVIE4.
