Background
An injector calibration check has been added to the first C service (150k miles for line haul or 60K miles for
Vocational / Severe Duty / Refuse / Delivery) for all Engine Model Year 2021B and later MX engines. Mileage and
hour recommendations for C service have not changed. This injector calibration is to ensure the MX engines run at
designed efficiency and power levels.
Procedure
Please follow your dealership's safety procedures and precautions to ensure the vehicle can be
safely repaired and maintained.
Refer to E282 for identification of EMY2021B engines. EMY2021A engines do not require this procedure.
NOTE
Before beginning this procedure, complete all other
tasks in the C service (150k miles for line haul or 60K
miles for Vocational / Severe Duty / Refuse / Delivery)
according to RMI and Service Manuals.
This calibration procedure only needs to be
completed at the vehicle’s FIRST C service. (See RMI
“Maintenance Activities” chart, Note 5)
Ensure that your DAVIE4 version is at the latest available version.
1. Start engine to warm up to operating temp. (coolant above 122°F / 50°C)
2. Visually check fuel system for leaks while engine is running.
3. Connect DAVIE4.
4. In DAVIE4, navigate to the Verify the Injector Calibration test under Repair Support.
If the Injector calibration test is not available in DAVIE4, the PCI software needs to be updated to
the latest available version.
Update the engine software if necessary. Ensure DAVIE4 is up-to-date. Refer to bulletin E134 for
information about programming a PACCAR MX engine.
5. Run the Verify the Injector Calibration test.
6. Engine must be running (idle) and at operating temperatures. (coolant over 122°F/50°C)
7. Engine will run up to 1200RPM until the test completes.
8. DAVIE will show results for each injector.
Service is run successfully, and compensation is applied.
Any other messages in DAVIE4 are listed in RMI along with corrective actions.
9. Shut down engine and disconnect DAVIE4.
