Whats New Abstract
Certain model 389 chassis are experiencing freezing of the A/C evaporator or frosting of the compressor and
suction line. A field resolution is available to solve this issue.
Condition
​ /C evaporator core freezing, or frosting/icing of the air conditioning compressor & suction line, can lead to
A
restricted airflow across the evaporator. This significantly reduces cooling performance.
Chassis Affected
​ ertain model 389 chassis that are experiencing frosting/icing of the air conditioning compressor & suction line,

and the evaporator core freezing.
Action
Fix-As-Fail
If a customer comes into your dealership and demonstrates the condition above, install a low-pressure switch and
jumper to allow the compressor to cycle more frequently. Use the procedure below.
Situation
​ ertain model 389 chassis that are experiencing frosting/icing of the air conditioning compressor & suction line,

and the evaporator core freezing.
Warranty
Through Standard Warranty or any applicable active Extended Warranty, Peterbilt will pay for parts at dealer net
plus applicable mark-up and labor:
• 0.3 hours labor to install a low-pressure switch to allow more frequent cycling. Use Quick Claim code 01082.
• File an additional claim for extraordinary circumstances. A quick claim for standard labor must be filed first.
• In PRWS, if the Quick Claim is not available, file a long form claim and reference the bulletin number in the claim
story. Do not enter the bulletin number in the campaign code field.
