2016 JEEP WRANGLER with 75000.0 miles

Takata recall. Airbag light recently turned on. After using a diagnostic tool to decode the problem i'm given code B1B02. This was an open recall on half a million older Jeep Wranglers. However mine is not included in the recall and feel it should be concerning the potential seriousness that could arise.

2011 JEEP WRANGLER with 90000.0 miles

Air bag light going on and off ever 2-4 minutes with a chime each time. Light goes on and of weather in motion or at a standstill. Had mechanic scan for obd codes. Code came back as B1B02 clock spring failure. Rhd Jeeps have been recalled for this exact issue but not lhd. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed to all Wranglers of these years and not just the rhd.

2011 JEEP WRANGLER with 55000.0 miles

Airbag light comes on consistently and started about 55,000 miles. Dealer tested and says it is code B1B02. After researching online i saw where this has been an known issue for some time.
    AIR BAGS,

2010 JEEP WRANGLER with 32500.0 miles

When performing a left hand turn while accelerating away from a stop my air bag warning light and associated chime came on. While driving in a straight line with the wheel centered the light stayed locked in, during a sweeping right hand turn the air bag warning light extinguished. This pattern continued until i returned home and checked that the steering wheel position was in fact the cause of the air bag warning light and associated chime. Any steering wheel position left of center would immediately cause the light and chime and any position right of center of would extinguish the light within 10 seconds. I knew at this point that the steering wheel clock spring wiring assembly was faulty and scheduled a dealership appointment for verification and repair. Dealership performed a troublecode check and received dtc: B1B02-driver airbag squib 1 circuit open. Dealership further confirmed by cycling the steering wheel and code went from active to stored. The clock spring was replaced and retested similarly to my above steering wheel position check and no more lights, chimes, or trouble codes were expressed. Faulty clockspring ribbon wire assemblies are a recurring quality and safety issue with chrysler vehicles and Jeep Wrangler jk's specifically. Per this website, actions have been taken to recall 2008-2012 rhd jk's and a customer satisfaction warranty extension has been issued for 2007 lhd jk's of 10 years, 150000 miles. This is most certainly a safety issue as a faulty clock spring can result in the driver side airbag not deploying in an accident if the proper conditions are met, and depending upon the nature of the fault in the clockspring the esc system can also malfunction due to the lack of steering input signal to the system. Further investigation for all affected makes, models, and model years, must be completed in the interest of public safety.

Airbag dash light and warning chime come on intermittently. Code shows - B1B02 - driver airbag squib 1 circuit open. Clock spring is suspect, but the horn & cruise control are still functional. This condition happens at all times, whether stationary, moving or turning.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic informed her that the B1B02 (driver side air bag clock spring assembly) was experiencing a failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the failure needed attention as soon as possible to prevent an air bag failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was 70,000.

    2008 JEEP WRANGLER 4-DR 4X4 with 82000.0 miles

The airbag warning light illuminates at random times while vehicle is running. A diagnostic tool identified the problem as: B1B02 - driver airbag squib 1 circuit open, and B1B06 - driver airbag squib 2 circuit open. These are associated with the airbag clockspring assembly for which Jeep issued a service bulletin in december 2011 for 2007 models only. There was also a recall on 2008 Jeep wrangler jks for this issue but it only applied to right hand drive models. There is an obvious problem with this component which needs to be addressed and repaired in all models. *js

This complaint refers to the existing air bag clockspring wiring failure being investigated under ea 15-007 and previously pe 15-025. It is also closely related to safety recall 11v258 which involves the same part failure. Like other owners of my 2007-2012 Jeep wranglers the clockspring unit in my vehicle has indicated it has failed with the abs error code B1B02 - "driver airbag squib 1 circuit open". The issue happened suddenly and has persisted. The vehicle has just over 55,000 miles and during my ownership it has not been submitted to extraneous environmental factors. Jeep customer care was notified of my issue (case # 29226734) but did not provide or offer remedy.

    2005 CHRYSLER 300 with 40000.0 miles

Warning light for air bags came on and would not go off. On june 1st 2007 i took the car to the dealer. They told me it was an electrical component and would be covered under my supplemental warranty. The repair order lists the following work as being performed: "41706 clockspring 2.00 the tech read dtc present in the orc for driver's squibb 1 open. The tech performed diag as per services information and verified the failure. The tech removed and replaced the clockspring, recalibrated the steering angle sensor, cleared the dtc and test drove the vehicle". Only 3 months later in september of 2007 the air bag warning light again stayed on. I took the car back to the same dealer and i was told that this time it wasn't an "electrical" problem but the air bag itself, since my supplemental policy did not cover air bags i would have to pay the entire $650.00 myself. The diagnosis on the work order read: "46765 found code B1B02 in orc module 1.00 diagnosed and found internal short in drivers airbag. Need to replace airbag assembly". This car has 46,000 miles on it and is only 2 years old. I am worried about the integrity of the air bags and i understand there have been many other complaints other than my own about airbag problems with this type vehicle.
