• Recall 68293 [USA]: Separation of the ball stud from the socket of the ball joint housing would allow the control arm to collapse and the wheel to fold in causing loss of steering control, possibly resulting in a crash.
  Qualis automotive is recalling certain aftermarket ball joints sold for use on certain passenger vehicles. The socket may have been excessively hardened which could cause it to crack near the retaining ring groove allowing the ball stud to separate under impact load. The subject ball joints were sold as four part numbers, d10945, d10946, g10945, and g10946. The affected control arms, d10945 and d10946, are stamped with the following dates on the ball joints: 134308, 135708, 100109, 102709, 104109, 105509, 107609, 108909, 110309, 113209, and 116609. The g10945 and g10946 are the same part as the d10945 and d10946 respectively. They are labeled differently depending on the aftermarket customer.

• Recall 88291 [USA]: In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak could result in a fire.
  Certain airtex fuel pump module assemblies, p/n e7081h, sold for use as replacement equipment for the vehicles listed above. The wall of the flared fitting of the fuel pump is not thick enough to prevent the mating threaded fittings from bottoming out before an adequate seal is achieved. This condition may result in leakage of fuel at the connection of the vehicle fuel line and the fuel pump module assembly.

These fuel pump modules were sold as aftermarket for use in certain daimlerchrysler vehicles listed above. Silicone material used in manufacture of the flapper valve was out-of-specification, leading to excess swell of the flapper valve restricting the flow of fuel to the fuel pump module.

• Recall 41987 [USA]: Either circumstance may result in the vehicle rolling away without warning.
  On certain passenger vehicles, the floor shifter ignition-park interlock may fail and allow the shifter to be moved out of the park position with the key removed. An inoperative interlock may also allow the key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the park position.

Vehicle description: 1998-1999 chrysler sebring jxi limited convertibles. The steering column intermediate shaft coupler pinch bolt retaining pin could snag and/or fray the edge of the driver's side floor mat.
  dealer will replace the steering column intermediate shaft coupler pinch bolt and retaining pin. In addition, the front floor mats will be replaced.

• Recall 3424 [USA]: This condition could cause the lower lateral arm ball joint to separate, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. this campaign supercedes mmc's previous safety recall campaign, see 99v-066.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. If the rubber boots on the lower lateral arm ball joints of the front suspension were damaged during assembly, dirt and water can intrude. Also, mmc has added the potential of leaking moisture, which can cause the ball stud to corrode.

Ball joints that are within the established tolerance will be cleaned and a special sealant will be applied to prevent intrusion of moisture.

• Recall 2001062 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles, the lower lateral arm ball joint can separate due to loss of lubrication. There is a potential for moisture to leak past the protective boot which can cause the ball stud to corrode. This corrosion, acting much like contamination, can also lead to premature wear and separation of the ball joint. This could result in loss of vehicle control and a possible crash. Correction: lower lateral arm ball joints will be inspected for wear and replaced as necessary with newly designed lower lateral arm ball joints. Ball joints that are within the established tolerance will be cleaned and a special sealant will be applied to prevent the intrusion of moisture.

• Recall 2004003 [Canada]: Other
  On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission and a floor-mounted shifter, the ignition-park interlock may become defeated and allow the shifter to be moved out of the park position with the key removed. An inoperative interlock may also allow the key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the park position. This may result in the vehicle rolling away without warning. Correction: dealer will inspect the function of the ignition-park interlock system. Vehicles found with functional interlock systems will have a load-limiting push rod installed into the floor shifter lever. Vehicles with a non-functional ignition-park interlock system will have the shifter assembly replaced.

  The manufacturer reports above are based on daimlerchrysler¿s (dc) analysis of model year (my) 1998 (population = 356,384) and 1999 (population = 486,948) ja, jx and lh family subject vehicle data (earlier mys excluded).The population number includes all mys.The precise number of duplicates between odi and dc reports cannot be determined due to missing or incomplete information.The fatality incident involved an elderly person who attempted to stop a roll away vehicle and received fatal injuries.Odi also gathered information on my 1997-99 prowler vehicles in this investigation. The prowler vehicles were manufactured with a different design shifter mechanism (the shift lever is shorter).There are no complaints of prowler interlock failure in odi¿s database, and dc has received no reports either.The prowler is excluded from the recall scope.The investigation involved a condition where the interlock system could fail (or be made inoperative by the operator) during vehicle use, possibly inadvertently.The interlock system is required under fmvss 114.With the transmission in the park position and the ignition key off, the combined action of pressing the shift button and pulling the shift lever rearward may result in the operator overcoming the interlock system and cause the mechanical linkage of the system to disconnect.When this occurs, there is no overt indication to an operator that the system is defeated, and an increased risk of vehicle roll-away exists.Under recall 04v021, dc will replace damaged shift mechanisms, and will install on all vehicles a device which inhibits the operator¿s ability to overcome the interlock and defeat the system.Beginning with my 2000, dc incorporated a brake and transmission shifter interlock (btsi) system into the subject vehicles.Introduction of btsi involved design changes to the shift mechanism, one of which resulted in reduced mechanical advantage (rma) of the shift button.The rma shifter requires increased forces to overcome the interlock system, making the shifter less susceptible to damage.

  There are no injuries or fatalities associated with this alleged defect.While conducting this investigation, odi found that the subject cinches meet the load bearing requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard 208, and that many of the reported failures were due to incorrect child safety seat installations. Takata recall. I am having several issues with the whole braking system, as it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of having no brakes. I have no type of brakes at all. When taken off parking, even with foot on brake, car will begin to move. This seems to be very common in these cars. The fuel pump was also replaced as it was letting less power go through. This happens as the car sits in parking, as well as, when driving. Also, the mechanic that looked at the car said that the pump needed to be replaced due to possible fire hazards. The lights flicker on and off by themselves, sometimes radio works, sometimes, lights get stuck on.

Driving down road, around 10 miles a hour, the car suddenly went clunk on the left side, and would not move. Got out to check, and the entire piece that holds the tire on was laying on the interior of the tire rim.

Takata recall my concerns of accidental discharge,the dash light stays on longer than should.

Car will stall at any speed. Will restart after about 15 tries. Happens after filling tank. 1st thought it was bad gas. But tried different stations. Same problem. Sporadic. This car is a death trap and needs to be investigated. Car will lose all power, steering, and brakes while traveling at speeds up to 55mph. This is very dangerous and i almost killed myself because of this issue. I have taken the car to 3 mechanics and they cannot diagnose the problem. Chrysler won't even return my calls regarding the issue, which i've researched and found hundreds of others with this same problem. This is a huge safety hazard and chrysler should take responsibility for whatever it is that is causing this to happen. I'm wondering if i can take legal action against them. Both front seat belts lock up and do not release. It does this intermittently but mostly does not work properly. When they do work they tighten & tighten to the point of almost being painful. Mechanics do not know why this should happen unless it is the seat belt control module which can only be done by a dealer. One word "expensive!" this is a safety & law issue and should be the responsibility of the manufacturer for faulty safety product and operation. After my research i see many of the same issues with the seat belts over and over. This is a repetitive problem. *tr

Purchased a 1999 chrysler sebring convertible for my daughter. The front seat belts were knotted near the seat back rest. Without my knowledge, son and daughter un-knotted the seat belts which retracted all the way in. Both seat belts are now locked and cannot be retracted. Took to a mechanic and he was unable to repair it. Due to safety concerns, not comfortable allowing my daughter to drive the car. Through my research online this seem to be a common problem for this particular car and serious consideration need to be given to issuing a recall.

I buy this car on april 2011, he was working good but i take the car to program the pager to open doors and trunk to bakersfield chrysler dealer, they did not program the pager but they change the shift part who was on recall, from that moment to this date the car works for two or three days and stop, i change already the spark plug rotor distributor cap, camshaft sensor, ignition relay, wires and distributor, and the car continue stop. Engine cuts out while driving at any speed. Sometimes immediately resumes, sometimes car sits for up to 45 minutes to presumably cool off. Started to happen once per week, and within a few weeks was once per day. Presents a problem while driving at high speed on the highway or making local road maneuvers as power steering and power brakes loose power. Mechanic examined and concluded the fuel pump and or fuel pump wiring was faulty. *tr

The tire was at an angle and prevented the vehicle from moving. The tow truck was notified. The tow truck driver informed her that all of the ball joints separated and the stabilizer fell on the wheel and was shaving the wheel materials. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated the ball joint was separated and it damaged the axle and the wheel. The dealer will also replace the ball joints on the right and left side of the wheel. The manufacturer stated there was a recall nhtsa campaign id number: 10e059000; suspension: front: control arm: lower arm but her vin was not included. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 117,000.

Intermittently both front seat belts are locked into the seat belt retractor and can not be used. Took it to a mechanic that could not figure out how to fix it. The car is a convertible and should never be driven without proper restraints. *tr

I have a 1999 chrysler sebring which has had the ball joint come out of both sides of the vehicle of the front 2 wheels about 6 months apart. This has caused damage to my vehicle which i have repaired. I am very concerned about my safety and the safety of my family because this last time i was about a mile away from getting on the highway, which could have been deadly. I feel that this is a safety issue and wonder about recalls and if i should be reimbursed. The tow to my home was $106, the tow to the mechanic was $65 and the mechanic bill was $303. This is just the drivers side. This happened on the passenger side as well and i feel i should be reimbursed for both. Documents of these charges can definitely be provided if needed. I am concerned about this happening again, not just my own car but anyone else that may be driving one of these vehicles. Please let me know either way. Thank you. *tr

Seat belt safety lock sticking. The front seat belt on both sides have a retracting mechanism. It allows the seat belt to retract into the shoulder when not in use. It also locks in place to secure the passenger. Sometimes the seat belt gets stuck and won't release. This prevents the use of the seat belt. This is both unsafe and in some states, illegal. *tr

She received nhtsa campaign id number 00v421002 recall notice, suspension front control arm, lower ball joint which stated "dealers will inspect the lower lateral arm ball joint for wear. Ball joints that exhibit wear beyond the established tolerance will be replaced with newly designed lateral arm ball joints. Ball joints that are within the established tolerance will be cleaned and a special sealant will be applied to prevent intrusion of moisture." upon arrival to the dealer, they stated that her ball joints were not affected and within the established tolerance they would apply the proper sealant to the vehicle. The sealant needed was on back order. The vehicle was taken to two separate dealers for a second opinion and she was advised not to drive the vehicle since there was too much movement in the left ball joint and the right ball joint was frozen. Chevrolet did not agree with the dealer. No repairs were made to the vehicle and to date, the contact was awaiting the arrival of the sealant needed to perform the recall repair. The failure and current mileages were 91, 695.

Front passenger side ball joint failure. While turning right into a shopping plaza the passenger side front ball joint failed on my wife's 1999 chrysler sebring convertible limited. This car at the time had less than 61,000 miles on it. The car was purchased as a used car the day before. The car was safety checked by the dealers mechanic before the sale with no issues noted that were not repaired. I understand through a search of the nhtsa database that there are other reports of ball joint failures and a safety recall on the coupe model of the sebring for this failure. I would say given the mileage on this used car that a similar recall is warranted since this car exhibits the same type of failure with little warning of a problem existing. This is a safety issue that needs to be rectified by the manufacture due to a clearly faulty design. Fortunately in this case no one was injured nor was damage done to anything other than the car. *tr

Under normal operating conditions,the sparks plug wires for the 3 rear cylinders are routed in a manner that puts them on top of the fuel rail,in the odd occurrence the sparks plug wires fail they can send a shock of electricity at the fuel rail causing it to short out the ignition and causing a fire. *tr

Car had been cutting out while driving for about a week and a half. Today while driving on a 4-lane very busy divided highway about 55 mph, car shut off and restarted. Then when brakes were applied to turn and cross two lanes of traffic through median turn-off, car died and would not restart. Car would crank but would not turn over. Luckily a friend came by and pushed car out of the middle of the highway to a safe area. I called the towing company and then tried to start the car. It had been approximately 5-10 minutes and car restarted. I got the car home and parked it. I will be having the car towed to the repair shop and i do not feel safe driving it. I have looked up information regarding this mechanical failure and have found that it is a common occurrence in 1996-1999 sebrings. Most owners have paid a lot of money to get the problem corrected. Some owners never could get the problem corrected. From the information that i have gathered, it appears the problem is the crankshaft sensor or the egc sensor. I believe this should be a safety recall item as the vehicle dies while driving. It is just by luck that the car restarted while driving and died and would not restart in the median. It could have been a lot worse. The car has a little over 107,000 miles and i expect things to go wrong with it mechanically, but something like this is not acceptable as a normal mechanical malfunction. I do not want to spend a lot of money on trying to figure out what the problem is, nor do i want to spend a lot of money repairing things that do not correct the problem. I have read that plugs,fuel pumps, sensors, etc. Have all been replaced until problem is corrected. I feel chrysler needs to figure out what the problem is and issue a safety recall. *tr

I purchase this used 1999 chrysler sebring lxi 2 years ago and was told by the dealer it only needed a wheel alignment. After attempting to get an alignment i was informed that the lower lateral control arms needed to be replaced. This is extremely scary and very hard to get fixed because of my work schedule. I contacted a dealer and was told that my car had the recall work done in 2001. I looked my vin up on the chrysler website and was advised there was no recall affecting my vehicle. Firestone would have charged me over $1000 to fix the problem, but i can not afford to. My vehicle is currently undriveable. I am also having issues with my driver side door which hangs slightly when opened and must be lifted to close. My side panels on both doors keep getting dislodged but have not fell off yet. I am truly afraid for the safety of my family with this vehicle and do not know what to do. I am in the process of trying to find someone to fix at a cost i can afford. *tr

A mechanic he replaced the distributor coil, distributor cap, throttle position switch, and spark plugs. The engine continues to shut off, but everything else remains on. My moms fuel pump went out, i had it replaced. The mechanic took the old fuel pump out and discovered that the wiring harness was melted, on both sides. In the fuel tank and outside of it. It is only a wonder that the car did not catch fire. I had a new fuel pump put in. *tr

The manufacturer issued reference number 16870242 and stated that because she is the third owner of the vehicle and has no warranty, they could not be of assistance. I own a 1999 chrysler sebring convertible that all the seat belts lock in the retracted position for no apparent reason. This occurs randomly and lasts for a week or more at a time. I use the car very little because of this. The local dealer mike famous (now closed) said it would be about $700 to repair. I think this is unacceptable since this is of safety in nature. I consider seat belts a valuable protective device that should not fail like this ever. I don't have any chance of using seat belts when i want to use the car. If i go out to use the vehicle and the belts are locked i don't use it. Not to mention seat belt laws and the ticket i would get . *tr

We discovered that the left lower ball joint on our 1999 chrysler sebring convertible was dangerously worn out due to moisture and corrosion inside of the boot. This exact condition is covered under recall campaign #967 for the sebring coupe, but excludes the convertible. The convertible should be added to this recall to prevent separation of the parts affected and loss of control of the vehicle. *nm

Driver side seat belt failure on our 1999 chrysler sebring convertible jxi. The seat belt locking mechanism fails to lock over time. The plastic locking clip inside the locking clip will break (did break) with continuous use. The dealer wants $100.00 + for the part. If chrysler used a stainless steel locking we would have this problem. Also the transmission sensors have a limited life. After driving for 30 minutes or more during low deceleration and low acceleration the transmission bucks and or slips. Right now i have swap the passenger side seat belt locking mechanism to the driver side and we sit in the back if we're a passenger because $100.00 right now is not affordable. Also when it rains water fills in the rear quarters, right up to the speakers, i have to park on a hill to drain it! *nm

Front passenger seat belt stuck and it will not pull out to put around your self. My passengers can not utilize seat belt at all, which can cause bodily injury in a vehicle accident, do to not being able to use the seat belt that will not extend it is stuck and inoperative. *nm

My trunk falls down with out any warning. Hurts when your head is under it. The fuel light keeps going off and on even when full. The back window came unglued, i was told that i have to purchase a new window and have it installed with a upholstery person, price quotes are 680-780 dollars nothing is wrong with the window seems like such a waste. *jb

Back in december of 2005 my sebring stranded me on the side of the road on a sunday. I had trouble with the car almost since the day i bought it and from september of 2005 to december 2005 i had already invested over 3,000 dollars into it. The car wouldn't move in reverse or forward. I managed to get the car to the dealer and with only 57,000 miles on it was informed i needed a new transmission. A new transmission for my car is a 4000 dollar job that they only guarantee for 3 years or 36 thousand miles. Well here i am at 97 thousand miles and the transmission again slipping pouring out fluid everywhere. Chrysler tells me to bring the car back, but the trans is no longer covered and i am still paying off the first bill. These cars are known to have transmission problems and needing new transmissions in them. A transmission should last you at least at the minimum of 60 thousand miles, most other vehicles guarantee the transmission for 75 thousand miles! Does chrysler not because your lucky if it lasts the 30 they guarantee it for and they know it? Is there anything i can do about this? I do know one thing i will not by a chrysler again. *tr

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to locate the cause of the failure. He believed that there may have been an issue with the fuel system. He removed the fuel tank from the vehicle and found burnt wires, which were controlling the fuel pump. The contact replaced the fuel pump wires and the fuel pump itself, but currently the vehicle will not start. He stated that the dealer overcharges him during every visit and they cannot diagnose the failure. The contact believes that it is a manufacturer defect that should be recalled. The failure mileage was 81,000 and current mileage was 110,000.

Chrysler sebring, dodge avenger, or mitsubishi eclispe driver and passenger door handles break off while trying to enter the vehicle. I have had to replace my passenger door handle once and now the driver side has broken and needs to be replaced. The dealer told me they are on back order. Why? Because they break all of the time. I see vehicles riding down the road with new handles on both sides of the car. What if i were being chased and needed to get into my car to stop someone from attacking me and the handle broke off in my hand. What if i were then raped or worse someone found me dead all because i could not get into my car. Someone needs to look into the defect of these door handles. *nm

I purchased a 1999 chrysler sebring in july 2005. My transmission blew up almost causing the car to catch fire. I was on the freeway returning home from a trip and heard this loud noise that shook the entire car. I thought that a truck tire had blown out until i looked in the rear view mirror and saw a big ploom of smoke that appeared to be coming from my car. I immediately looked at the dash to see if there were any warning lights and there weren't. But the car began to slow down very fast. While getting over to the exit lane i was calmly telling my daughter to unfastened her safety belt, and to slide over to the passenger side door and to prepare to get out fast. I was so frightened that i couldn't even dial on my cell phone. We coasted off of the freeway to a gas station. I threw that car in gear and we both jumped out. Thank god. The attendant noticed us before we turned up into the station and got a flashlight and some other tools and told us to stand back. Before i knew it about seven guys were around this vehicle saying how common this problem was. So i asked the natural question. Do you think there was a recall? I called daimler chrysler the next morning and was told that they would take my complaint but this was the first time they had heard of this type of problem. Especially on that vehicle. I told them what was told me by these men one of which was a master mechanic for ford and another a mechanic for dodge, and tow truck guy. Here i am. I am angry because i feel that this company was not looking out for the best interest of myself or my family. I know that very quickly this incident could very well have turned into a catastrophe. When i wonder if they or their families buy their vehicles i have to say no no no. How dare they talk about being the best vehicle made in america. Are you talking class action ? I want in. We could have been killed or critically injured after my transmission blew up! *jb

Loud click sound from the front wheels when shifting front park to drive, was diagnosed by a chrysler mechanic as lower ball joint wear on both sides. Right and left lower ball joint grease boots were deflated and grease was absent causing pre-mature (38,000) mile failure of the ball joint. Symtoms first began at 24,000 miles. Safety requires that the right and left joint and entire control arm be replaced to avoid a failure. Symptoms and diagnosis are identical to the nhtsa recall of other chrysler sebring years.

On monday 7/11/05 my daughter was driving my 1999 sebring convertible. While driving without incident the rear passenger ball joint apparently broke causing the vehicle to go into a spin and total loss of control of the car. The tire was seperated from the vehicle while driving. The police officer at the scene talked to witnesses who saw the tire wobbling just prior to losing control. I arrived at the scene and was told by the officer that the ball joint broke causing the accident to occur and said that the driver was not speeding and did not find her at fault for the mechanical failure. When i arrived i saw the rear passenger tire laying flat on the ground. The officer also told me that my insurance company would not cover the repair due to it being a mechanical failure so i must now pay $1000 to the garage which is repairing it. Money i just don't have! I am a single mom and this hurts a lot. Not to mention that my daughter came really close to being badly injured and very possibly killed as she also missed the fire hydrant by mere inches. What can i do about this???? This is just wrong. I really loved my car and now i'm afraid it is a death trap. Help me please and i hope this is handled.

Dt: contact states vehicles holds water after a heavy rainstorm because the drain holes underneath the car get clogged up easily. The first time the car contained approximately 4 inches of water, the service dealer did unclog the drain holes. The second time the car contained approximately 8 inches of water, because the consumer was in the hospital he could not have the vehicle taken to the service dealer. The carpet had to be taken out of the vehicle because of the odor where the water had set for the time the consumer was in the hospital. The consumer did contact the manufacturer and they stated the complaint was not on their website so it was not considered a legitimate complaint. *ak

I drive a 1999 chrysler sebring convertible. Early summer 2004, the driver seat belt failed to work regularly. Chrysler paid to replace the seat belt assembly in aug 2004. Early this year, both front seat belts became unreliable, failing to "pull out" about 75% of the time. In late march 2005, it was diagnosed by norman chrsyler jeep dodge and a seat belt module was ordered on march 30, 2005. Chrysler offered to pay all but $50 for the repair. The problem is that 6 weeks later, the part is still on national backorder with no estimated delivery date. As of week ending may 6, 2005, neither the dealership nor chrysler corp can offer any assistance in obtaining the part. Meanwhile, i live way out in the country where i drive on 65 mph country roads everywhere i go with no front seat belts about 75% of the time. In the last year, my husband and in-laws have hit deers, and my daughter was in a major accident on these roads. I am at a loss as to where to go for help. Please help!!!

The vehicle had no response to the braking system, vehicle proceeded through a stop sign across a major 4 lane road, stroke the front of a brick building, and continued along the side of the building. The door cladding on my 1999 chrysler sebring lxi has been defective since i first purchased the car new in december 1998. The dealership attempted to fix the problem at least 3 times and the problem persists with my door panels hanging off which is a big safety concern. Why wasn't this problem recalled as soon as it was discovered by daimler chrysler? There have been numerous complaints filed with nhts about this problem. I recently spend money having the wheel hub replaced and was never notified about the ball joints recall which was probably related to the hub problem according to my mechanic. The latch to secure the hood is defective -- this is very dangerous for me. *nm

The consumer received a recall notice(00v421002) lower ball joint boot. After the work was done the consumer had an accident. The consumer applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. The driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and hit a curb. The vehicle stalled and the driver was unable to restart. The driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The driver went to the hospital on his own. The problem has been undetermined at this time. Excessive rattling coming from front shock that can be felt all the way across the front interior dashboard. Had dealership check for source of noise and told that nothing was found to be wrong. Took car to be inspected months following first report of problem to dealer and was told that left front lateral ball joint is bad and will result in unsafe driving conditions (tire can come off at any time.) manufacturer recalled this item in 2001 and car was taken to dealership but nothing was done to repair the faulty ball joints at that time. Now they are citing that the recall was completed and that they will not replace the failing mechanism. *jb

Prior to receiving the recall notice, on several occasions, the consumer was able to remove the key from the ignition when the vehicle was not in park, on another occasion, the vehicle rolled into a parking garage which caused damaged to the consumers rear bumper. *jb

On two separate occasions accelerator pedal stuck intermittently while turning the steering wheel and depressing the accelerator pedal, causing the vehicle to take off suddenly. Consumer was waiting on the dealer to pick up the vehicle for inspection.*ak

When accelerating to approximately 50 mph my 1999 chrysler sebring jxi has recently started to shudder at 3-4 gear changes. Was advised by mechanic that torque converter is going out. About 2 months prior tachometer started moving irratically. Dealership advised guages needed to be reset, but problem has persisted. Although possibily unrealated, this afternoon (day after seeing mechanic for torque converter problem), my car began to overheat while idling for only 2-3 mins. I immediately turned off ignition, and had car towed to dealership. I am waiting for a diagnosis. *ak

Consumer states that he has problems putting his vehicle into gear. He states that when the gear is in park, he has to force his vehicle into drive. He states when he does this he hears a funny noise, as if the vehicle is straining to force itself into gear. Upset with the fact that i have two chrysler products: 1990 plymouth voyager and 1999 chrsyler sebring both of which failed prematurely. The voyager had two transmission replacments and the sebring had one transmission replaced. Both failed before 70,000 miles. I see that there's bulletins addressing the issues, but when the dealer was contacted i was told sorry and it's to late to make any claims. We are all aware there are secret warranty watches as well as reasonable durability. I have written and called but seem to get nowhere

Recall 04v021000 concerning floor shift ignition park interlock. Vehicle was taken in for recall repairs, but the problem still persisted. The key could be taken out of the ignition when the vehicle was running. Also, gear shift could be moved when the key was out of the ignition. *ak

Dealership to help consumer correct the transaxle floor shifter ignition park interlock.*mr the consumer had a bad experience while attempting to have the vehicle's recall work done at the dealership(recall # 04v021000). The dealer indicated that the recall work could not be done on a saturday therefore the consumer made eventually able to made a saturday appointment but when she arrived her appointment was not recorded. The consumer was then told that the minimum wait was 2 hours to have the vehicle repaired. The consumer refused to wait two hours.

While driving consumer experienced erratic steering control. Dealership informed the consumer that problem was caused by a rack and pinion failure. *ak the problem existed since the vehicle was first purchase. *sc

While the vehicle was parked it rolled backward and into a tree. The key was not inside the ignition switch and vehicle was turned off. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 1999 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that the key does not always turn when inserting it into the ignition. This frequently prevents her from operating the vehicle. She took the vehicle to the dealer twice and they replaced the ignition lock cylinder both times at the cost of $400 each. The contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 72,640 and current mileage was 80,000.

Re: 1999 sebring lxi issue: interior rear view mirror on stated date a type of unknown liquid was dripping from the base or seam of the mirror and dripped onto my consul. (no apparent cause for this) causing the mirrors interior to haze making it difficult to see into. Some bubbling was seen behind the glass, but has stopped and only haze remains. I contacted daimlerchrysler, dealer in torrance,ca and daimlerchrysler via internet site/email and informed them both of this problem. A senior staff rep at daimlerchrysler, could not provide a msds info to me. This haziness on my mirror is a hazard for driving, and the liquid that dripped could be a potential environmental hazard as well. My children are in my car daily. The senior staff rep stated "your concerns are understandable. Unfortunately there is nothing further that can be done to more fully address these issues.".. I did ask the senior staff rep to replace the mirror assembly. I feel this is a manufacturer flaw and i should not pay for it. *la

Dt: the contact states the seat belt on the drivers side is jamming up in the retractor. At times it will keep tightening and not loosen. The retractor has been replaced twice for the same problem. The repairs were done at a certified dealership. At this time, the retractor was replaced and was operating correctly.*ak

While moving from a parking space consumer heard a loud noise coming from the front. At the same time driver's side snapped off. Independent mechanic determined lower ball joints wore out prematurely. Consumer filed a complaint on september 23, 2003, odi#10040201 with the same type of problem. Dealer had been notified. *ak

1999 chrysler sebring conv. - found that the thick metal frame attaching the conv. Top and the frame of the car snapped in half on both sides. Unable to drive, top can rip off going down the road. Material defect, never wrecked, chrysler admits defective but will not repair. $3300.00 for parts only. *jb

Vehicle will not shift out of lowest gear (directly related to this: speedometer didn't work; vehicle overheating, but not registering on temp guage; compass/mpg/etc. Not functioning). Brought to dealership where output sensor was replaced. See complaint #10081186: 6 months and 2250 miles prior input sensor was replaced.*ak

I have had to have the fuel injectors cleaned for the second time in less than a year.Car has 35k miles. Was told by dealer service center chrysler doesn't use "dirt resistant" fuel injectors & this is a problem with my model/year. Of course cleaning is not covered under warranty and has been over $120.00 each time. Chrysler doesn't consider these defective & will not replace per warranty. It was suggested to me by mechanic i use a can of fuel injector cleaner once a month. *ak

While driving black smoke began coming from underneath the hood. There was no indication on the instrument panel of any malfunction. The consumer pulled to the side of the road and the vehicle caught on fire. *nm the consumer noticed that the fire was underneath the passenger side of the hood of the vehicle. *sc the consumer was told by a daimler chrysler inspector that the fire was due to a electrical problem which started in the generator system. *jb

On 4/22/04 i took my 1999 chrysler severing convertible to be services because the ac didn't seem to be cooling and there was a grinding noise in the front drivers side wheel. Turns out the rack & pinion steering is shot, the cooling core is cracked and the cooling sensor is not functioning properly. Repairs would total more than $2100 to fix. Requested a front end alignment and took vehicle home to consider options. Two days later vehicle failed when started, 'service engine soon' light came on, speedometer didn't work, and vehicle was stuck in 2nd gear. Found out that both transmission sensors are bad, there is silver sludge in transmission and i need new front brakes. This vehicle has 48,000 miles on it. Has been services according to manufactures recommendations and i can't wait to get rid of it. *la

Vehicle failed ( complete mechanical stop) on highspeed highway interstate: twice from electronic failures in transmission soliniods, leading to a third failure from the transmission, the 4th was a complete electronic failure, followed by the 5th failure-same as the 4th the next day after chrysler serviced the vehicle.

Driver's side door is defective. The hinges are broken and i've taken this issue to the chrysler service department with the same complaint 2 times prior to this.

All four seat belts don't hold the passengers in the seats. Dealer notified. *ak

While opening the driver 's door, the handle fell off. Two weeks later the passenger side handle fell off as well. The driver pick up the handle and drove to the dealer. The mechanic replaced both handles due to worn parts. Please provide any additional information. *nm

The consumer owns a convertible and indicated that the roof top stitching around the doors and windows of the convertible was rotted causing the rear windows to fall out. The consumer contacted the dealer and was told that it was not a warranty item and that they will do nothing. There response was that due to the florida heat, it will do this and there is nothing they will do. *nm consumer requesting new top and stitching of the roof on vehicle. *la

While driving 60 mph, the consumer heard a thud coming from the vehicle. Two miles down the road the engine stalled on a bridge. The vehicle was towed to a garage and was examined by a mechanic. The mechanic found a hole in the transmission, caused by the differential and the keeper pin separating inside the transmission. The manufacturer and the dealer are aware of the problem. *nm

The roof tops fabric was wearing out. As a result rear window collapsed while driving. *ak

On december 18,2003 , one the wheels (rims) on my wife's car bent and caused the tire to deflate very repidly and almost caused her to loose control and cause an accident. In 2002 the same thing had happened with another of the wheels.*ak the car had to be towed after the 2003 incident. While having the wheel replaced it was found out that two other wheels were bend and in need of replacement. My wife found out from other customers at the tire place that several other people had the same bad experience with the same type sebring. I called chrsyler and they insisted they had never had similar complaints, but i know of an individual who was compensated for his wheels. My complaint is so that it may be noted that there is a problem with the wheels on 1999 sebrings. I found out that there was a problem in the metal alloy used in the manufacture of the wheels.

Vehicle does not shift properly, heavy "thunking" when shifting into and out of drive and reverse. (regarding number of failures: this happened every time vehicle was shifted over a period of several days. Immediately brought vehicle to dealership and transmission output sensor was replaced. (note: filed as separate complaint - 6 months and 2,250 miles later similar problems and transmission input sensor was replaced)

As with many chrysler vehicles, my paint is fading. I have contacted the regional manager and he declines to paint my vehicle at the expense of chrysler, although chrysler is aware that there is an issue with their paint.

Rear view mirror has a flowing liquid inside of the mirror impairing view. This does not seem to affect the auto dimming abilities. One night it was fine, the next morning it was there; no damage to mirror at all; no bumps; no cold temps; no hot temps to cause this problem. There is no leaking. The liquid flows uphill leading to believe it is possibly mercury and if so poses an environmental hazard as well as potential harm to humans if the mirror is to start leaking. Chrysler 5 star dealer in ruston, la has never seen a problem like this. They also are charging almost $400 plus labor to fix. This is unacceptable as this seems like a clear defect case.*ak

During the summer of 2003, my passenger side door handle fell off upon opening the door. I had not yet repaired this problem, but now the driver side door handle has fallen off. I have to keep my windows open to open my car doors. I hope the manufacturer will cover these costs as i have read about five similar cases reported on this website and i'm sure there are many more unreported cases. I only have 33,000 miles on my car, but the 3-year warranty has expired. *la

Gear ratios for first and second gears were damaged by transmission fluid

In sept. 2003 my driver door handle broke-off. Within 3 weeks, the passenger door handle broke as well. I've called chrysler and they informed me that it was my problem. To replace the handle / latch cost around $125 for each door.*ak

Nhtsarecall 00-v-421-002: passenger vehicles. If the rubber boots on the lower lateral arm ball joints of the front suspension were damaged during assembly, dirt and water can intrude. Also, mmc has added the potential of leaking moisture, which can cause the ball stud to corrode. Consumer has the same problem while driving vehicle at 40 mph lower lateral arm ball joint separated. *ak

After having door panels fall off, tar drip from side doors, tires continually go flat and need replacing prematurely, and a front bumper being torn from scraping on curbs, i now have a driver side door handle break. Is there any way to get chrysler to address and fix these problems?

Wheels on this car are too soft and bend easily. When bent badly enough, they lose the seal on the tire and cause a blowout. So far i've had 9 wheels fail, with one blowout, 5 flat tires. My tire dealer tells me this is the #1 replaced wheel in the nation, with #2 very far behind. Chrysler and their dealer both refuse any assistance. *ak

I have a 1999 sebring convertable and it has a defective top. The top is leaking and the glue holding in the back window is deteriorating. I'm afraid the back window may fly out. Chrysler is not owning up to several complaints about the defective tops and two other customers have already had this happen.

I own a '99 chrysler sebring lxi coupe and i'm having problems with the door trim or cladding. I have experienced the door trim flapping at the rear edge of the passenger door and sliding forward getting caught clipping the front fender while opening the door. I understand that there was a recall regarding this problem and i called chrysler corp. I was told that the recall covered vehicles manufactured up to august '98. My vehicle was manufactured on october '98. I believe my vehicle should be covered under this recall due to the fact that i'm experiencing the same problem and that my car was produced so close to the recall deadline. Apparently the defect that was to be corrected on cars produced after august '98 wasn't done on my vehicle. *nlm

The transmission went out on my 1999 chrysler sebring convertible at less than 45000 miles. The transmission shop tellm me that they are seeing alot of these cars coming in with the same problem. 2 months after the transmission was replaced the torque converter went out, apparently the same problem with the transmission not being made properly for my car.*ak

Doors and body dent very easily. This is my second sebring convertable, and my last, sad to say, because i don't think the sheet metal is thick enough. This could have been a beautiful car, so fun to drive with the top down but the dings and dents are everywhere! Looks like a washboard! Also, several problems with electrical system. Check engine light comes on all the time and the dealer says there is no problem with it! Try telling that to the person you're selling the car too! Also, for such an expensive car, you'd think they'd make the convertable top to last longer. In both of the sebrings i owned the cloth top had to be replaced within the first 3 years!

The vehicle experienced a problem with the front brake line and fittings. *jb the consumer was rotating his tires when he noticed the front left rubber brake line had five buldges, and one leaked. The dealer replaced the left front brake hose, bled the brakes, and resurfaced the two front rotors. Scc

While driving, when consumer put the vehicles defroster on, the back windshield glass exploded. There were no injuries, cause the back seat was not occupied at the time. I had a family member pickup up my vehicle from the airport parking lot one time i was away. They used my spare key. After the vehicle started it died and would not start. I had it towed to a chrysler dealer. They told me i was using a key that fried a computer chip. It was a key i received from the dealer when i bought the car. I had used that spare key before. Now on occasion the engine will just shut off, not stall or anything. It has happened as i was starting first thing in the morning, at a stop light or as i am traveling down the highway. I have to pull over and try to restart. Sometimes it will start right up and at other times it will start 10 minutes later.*jb

Rear seat belt inertial lock does not work. Although the car is a 1999, it only has 17k miles. This defect precludes safe and proper placement of a child safety seat in the back seat --> placing the child safety seat in the front passenger seat is cause for concern since there is no "off" switch for the srs. I am also concerned for the safety of passengers in the rear seat; if the shoulder belt does not lock in an accident, forward motion kinetic injury is sure to result and will be greater than if the shoulder belt worked.

The car is started and acceleration begins without any problems. Then within a fairly short time the car begins to decelerate and sometime completely stops. There were times when it jerked forward as the accelerator was pressed. It is currently at its 4th location which is also the 2nd dealership in trying to diagnose the problem. Last week the dealership said they were 100% sure they knew the problem and how to fix it. After they did the repair the problem was still there. I am waiting for them to contact chrysler engineers. I am afraid to drive the car becasuse you never know when it will cut out and this could put me and my children in a very dangerous situation that could result in an accident. Consumer states when the convertible top is down, there is a boot cover that protects the top when it is down and is only held on by 2 small pieces of velcro, the velcro is so small that it does not hold the cover on, while driving, the boot cover blew off and consumer did not realize it until after she was home, the manufacturer was not willing to assist with replacing the cover, consumer later learned there was a recall (99i004000) regarding this issue.*jb

While driving down the interstate the door panel on the passenger side came partially unattached. We noticed this when we stopped at a gas station. When i opened the passenger side door the panel crushed into the front quarter panel and dented it. I contacted a local dealership and they said they could fix it for me but it was not under warranty for the door panel falling off. However, they did offer to fix it for me for a costly sum to be determined once they saw the vehicle and estimated the damage.*ak

Seat belt buckle on driver's side is not buckling up correctly, while consumer is driving seat belt will come undone. Contacted dealer, and dealer said that there was no defect within buckle, and that consumer needed to hear two clicks to make sure that it was secure.*ak

Vehicle stalls regularly after taking it through car wash. Dealer has replaced spark plugs and spark plug wires. Has not stalled since these were replaced. *ak

While driving heard a thumping noise in the front end of the vehicle. Took vehicle to the dealer, and was told that she needed a new axle. She had the axle replaced. Also, she was told that the rims were bad, and tires continuously lost air. Took the vehicle back to dealer, and was told that the rims rusted completely through. That was why the tires didn't last. The consumers vehicle was taken to a goodyear service center because it appeared that two of the tires had a slow leak, after inspection it was noted that only one tire had a leak and the dealer resealed the tire around the rim, the next day while driving the consumer noticed that the vehicle was pulling to the right while driving and later that day the consumer went to check on the tire and found that it went flat, the vehicle was taken back to the service center where no problems could be found and the tire was remounted on the vehicle, later that evening while driving the tire blew out causing vehicle to pull violently to the left.(no tire info was given.) nlm

On october 16, 2001 the car had a blowout on the right rear passsenger side. Upon taking the tire to discount tire, they stated the tire was faulty and blew from within, and would return the tire to the company. Then on november 6, 2001, the second tire blew on the right rear side again, on an interstate at 60mph, this time the car rocked back and forth then spun around three times before coming to a stop next to the concrete wall facing oncoming taffic. Vehicle has been in the shop 4 times since bought six months ago. First: housing holding electric motor comes loose allowing fan to tear radiator. Second, sensor light comes on. Third; ais motor fails while vehicle travelling 60 mph. Motor controls idle speed while deaccelerating. Failure cause computer to kill all power to vehicle. Vehicle lost power steering, power brakes, and all electrical including lights and swerved into oncoming traffic at night. Fourth: speedometer will not work and vehicle will not shift gears.Through out ownership, there has been black tar dripping out of doors, dealer has addressed this problem 3 times only to have it reoccur.

Battery has been replaced twice, 3 sensors have been replaced, tar like substance dripped from the door panels onto the inside of car and was taken in to shop several times before corrected, complained to the dealer of wind noise but they never resolved the problem. Dealership very hard to deal with when there are problems. I am open to any suggestions while looking for a honda accord. *ak

Rims on vehicle bent very easily. When rims bent, it caused bead between rim and tire to separate/ tires started to lose air, and go flat. When contacting dealer, dealer melted and reshaped rims, including two that where melted and reshaped. Please provide any further information.*ak

Vehicle was hesitating, stalling, choking and the engine light came on, vehicle was taken into dealer but the problem could not be duplicated, when consumer went to the dealer the second time she was informed that a tune- up was needed and the fuel injection needed to be serviced and that was causing the vehicle to stall, however consumer experienced the same problems another two times, before it was determined that the motor fuse blew out and there were problems with the electrical system.*jb

I purchased this vehicle used with only 17,611 miles on it in 2/01 from my niece. Since then i have had 3 flats and the tires look has though they were shredded. Not only does this cost me a fortune but it is rediculous that the tires are failing a low speeds and low mileage. The tire dealer told me that the chrysler design is poor and dangerous. Have had three flat tires in the last year for no reason. I don't know if there is a problem with the tire or the wheel. The last time the tire went flat and was inspected by a non goodyear dealer, i was told there was a defect in the sidewall. He said if it was a product that he carried they would have replaced the tire. The tires have a lot of tread wear left and have been rotated and balanced. Goodyear replaced the tire admitting there was a problem but still charged me $94.00. I am very unhappy with the fact that i drive a car less than two years old, take good care of it and have these problems. I currently have another flat tire and will have it inspected later this week. Each tire that has gone flat has been on a different wheel in a different area each time. No two flats have been on the same wheel. Most of my driving is in town. I have probably put 6,000 highway miles on the car on various trips. After stopping at a gas station and getting out of vehicle, it suddenly lurched backward throwing the consumer to the ground, causing serious injuries to her left leg as it came into contact with the drivers side door, vehicle also collided with the cement buffer at the end of the fuel island and the rear bumper of a parked vehicle, attorney states this incident is identical to the failure of the jeep grand cherokee. My transmision has stalled on me many times one of the times almost causing me to get into a very serious accident when turning into a busy highway. My car has been in dealership for almost one month now. I have also had problems with my brakes having the rotors cut once then replaced a second time. When i took my car in the first time for the transmission they said it only needed transmission fluid. Weeks later car stalled on me again and when we checked it, it had no transmision fluid and when i took it back to the dealership they said it had two leaks and i am still waiting for them to recieve parts to fix. I am very frustrated and stressed out due to this back and forth with them. I do not want the vehicle and am scared to drive it again.

We noticed "tarry droppings on ledge when we opened drivers door they seemed to be leaking from the door. We have power windows and locks. We were not too concerned i thought they were just caused by the extreme heat of the desert area here in phoenix. The only problems were my wife had to raise her dress to keep the tar from getting on the hem . Soon after my car reached 36,000 miles my locks got slow to work. Then about 37,000 miles my outside door handle just fell off when i shut the door. I have asked chrysler to fix this obvious flaw in construction but they have told me since my car was not in warranty they were not responsible. I have owned many cars and have never seen or heard of anything close to this type of problem. I think chrysler should stand behind their product and fix this. When put into drive to pull away from vehicle, the car did the same out of control acceleration forward jumping a curb and striking a grocery store foundation and the vehicle proceeding partially into the store. We have witnesses that discribed the car totally out of control leaving the injured driver helpless. Suspect fuel system and automatic transmission failure. The incident occured in an approx 20-30 distance. The vehicle was a total. The dealer and chrysler was contacted by both myself and state farm insurance agency. No return call from chryler at present date for diagonositic check.

Transmission was slipping. After inspection dealer replaced several parts within transmission. 6,000 miles later, problem reoccurred. Also, while driving and applying accelerator pedal vehicle hesitated before taking off. Gears do not engage until reaching 3rd or 4th gear. Please provide any further information.*ak

Nhtsa#00-v-421-000:lower ball joint boot: lower lateral arm ball joints of the front suspension were damaged during assembly dirt and water can intrude. Also mmc has added the potential of leaking moisture which can cause ball stud to corrode. Consumer stated that his vehicle was recall and the recall failed. Ts *tt

Vehicle has only 19000 miles. Upon applying the brakes pedal gets very soft, and brakes grab slightly. *ak brake pedal is still very soft after the dealer replacing the front brake and master cylinders. *yh

The intake sensor failed and they replaced it once i drove it the rest of the way to them. It took @ 10 min to replace. They reported to me that i was the second one in a weeks period of time with the same problem. Then a week later i had my car in for service and asked them to check the transmission and it needs rebuilt. The problem witht he brakes has been on going. Replace front pads 3 times since may of 2000.

Michelin tires went flat on two occasions, the dealer stated both times that the consumer must have hit a curb hard, however the consumer had not and is requesting reimbursement for the replacement of two of the faulty tires. *slc

I ahve been to the dealershipabout the hot tar that was leaking from my door and they said that they fixed it. Well the next summer it got hot once again and the hot tar got on clothing and my leg. How ever by this time my warranty was out and so they said it was not there responsebility and i ahd to cover the repair since they had no record of the repair. I also contacted chrysler onthe problem and the employee response was "just because you are haveing problems does not mean anyone else is!"i would have to say that i would never ever buy another chrysler product again! I have gotten no customer service from the dealership but i ahd an awesome salesaman who can not do anything to help! But sell me another car in six months after i pay this one off more. All in all this has been a learning adventure for me.*ak

Defective rear defroster clip on window broke, causing rear defroster to malfunction which could cause visual difficulty, and result in a crash. Dealer replaced rear window twice. Please provide further information. *ak

Windshield wipers would intermittently stop working while in operation. Dealer notified. , *ak

When driver's side sunvisor is pulled down it knocks the rearview mirror out of place. Manufacturer was contacted & they said nothing could be done. *ak

While driving 60-70 mph the vehicle suddenly shifted to second gear, rpms went to red, and vehicle slowed down to 25-30 mph. Dealer replaced o2 sensor. This happened 2 more times, at this time vehicle is being repaired at dealership. Mechanic found metal flakes in transmission fluid, transmisson needed to be replaced.*ak

I drove this car for 1000 miles at speeds of 55 & 60 mph with no problems, the first trip with speed at 65mph, the cv boot flew off in heavy traffic on interstate on a friday in rush hour, luck for all no one injured. My concern is it will fly off again and hurt someone. Chrysler will not even look into the problem because we didnt stop in traffic and pick it up!!!

While traveling 5 mph, vehicle rolled into the bumper of the car in front of it. As a result of the accident vehicle caught fire, there was no air bag deployment. *ak *ml

I had a 1999 chrysler sebring. It was a certified vehicle purchased from rancho chrysler in san diego, ca. Approximately 6 months after i purchased it, i was driving at about 20 mph when the engine compartment burst into flames. The investigator hired by chrysler said it was an air conditioning line that broke and sprayed chemical onto manifold, causing the fire.

While driving 35- 40 mph vehicle had a direct frontal impact in which the driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploy, which did not protect the occupant in this crash. No previous problems with the airbags. Please provide further information.*ak

Sometimes the turn signal and hazard lights will blink and sometimes they will not. The dealer could not duplicate this problem. Please provide any furhter details. *ak

Toxic tar substance leaks out of the doors

The cladding on the vehicle is broken which cause the panel to fall off. Dealer is aware of failure. The new 2000 vehicles are redesigning the "cladding" to correct problem. *yc

On july 7, 1999, after leaving showroom with new '99 sebring,the protective under carriage came partially undone on the ac expressway. We had to stop and pull the remainder of the under carriage from under carriage from under front end of vehicle. The front end of sebring sits so low that the slightest of inclines or upgrades(s) causes a pulling /friction on front bumper of vehicle.. The standard concrete parking abutment in parking lots causes a pulling/friction (contact) action if driven over while trying to park. Due to this condition the vehicle has a slight tear on front bumper, facia/guard.

While driving 60-65mph with a/c on, a mist would come out of vents & would be losing coolant. A/c would turn hot afterwards. Has been to dealer numerous times for air conditioning problems. Problem can not be resolved. Will be taking back to dealer.*ak

While travelingon a freeway, we had the convertible top down and covered with the 'boot".After about 5 minutes the boot flew off.The boot is held in place by "velcro". In my opinion velcro is not strong enough to hold the boot and is unsafe. I have ask chrysler for test results for the boot and they stated none was available,i should contact your department. I am very disapointed with the front bumper all i did was park and now its ruined i dont think i should have to pay since they made it so low to the ground i have found alot of other people with the same problem also the brakes i though maybe they didnt fix them right but now i am finding out from other people that own a sebring that it is normal for the breaks to always go and the bumber to crack please let me know if there is any way i can have chrysler pay for this*ak

Vehicle stutters intermintly when taking off from a stop. This has happend at least 10 times to me. This is very dangerous when turning left in front of oncoming vehicles and pulling out on busy highways. I feel very unsafe in this new vehicle. My dealer has attempted to fix this and failed 4 times. As of today i am writing to the manufacturer requesting a repurchase or replacement vehicle pursuant to the lemon law indiana motor vehicle protection act, indiana code 24-5-13-1. I do not recommend this car to anyone!!!

Intermittent unresponsiveness of brake system (loss of vacuum ) while stopped in traffic from 2/15/99 to 2/20/99. Full loss of brakes 2/20/99 at approximately 15 mph resulting in minor accident with another car. Manufacturer and dealer have failed to identify/repair brake problem.

I have never had a flat tire untill i owned this vehicle. The problem i believe is with the aluminum rims. They lose air, the rim bends up easily, i never know when i'm going to have another flat tire because of these stupid rims that look nice.All tires on my vehicle have been replaced. I have had repeated problems with the tires. Due to poor construction i have been forced to repeatedly purchase new tires. My first incident occurred a year and a half after purchase of the vehicle. Within the 45 m.P.H. Area the tire exploded and ruined the aluminum rim completely. I immediately took the wheel and tire to a nearby hibdon tire center where they checked the tire and concluded it was faulty. They explained to me the tire's steel belt had shifted casuing it to tear out the side wall of the tire which caused it to "blowout." now more recently, my original three tires have also shifted steel belts. Two of these three have began to reveal side wall tearing. I have looked for other brands of tires which may solve the problem , but since the tire size (p215-50-r17) is so rare, i have had no luck. The orignal tire sytle (goodyear eagle rs-a) is also quite expensive, but being the only correct sized tire i have no choice but to purchase the problem tires to replace all three original tires. *ak (tiresize: p215-50r17)( dot number: tire size: p215-50r17 )

There is a recall on my ball joints & mine are bad they also caused my tire to wear very thin which caused them to go flat i called chry. They said there recall had no previsions on tires with bad wear because of ball joint.*ak

When driving and upon depressing the brake pedal to make a graudal stop, consumer heard a noise coming from front end. Consumer contacted dealer. Dealer replaced front brake pads on a number of occasions due to excessive wear. Please provide any further details. *ak

17 inch front tire on passenger side keeps wearing out in the inside of tire. Driver side tire is perfect , and vehicle drives well. Front end alignment is perfect. Consumer has already replaced 2 tires within 15,000 miles.*ak
