  • Recall 2021679 [Canada]: Steering
Issue: on certain vehicles, the jam nut for the steering stopper bolt on the left-front knuckle may loosen and allow the bolt to back away from the knuckle. This could result in an increase in the turning radius of the vehicle in left turns. A change in turning radius could make it difficult to make sharp turns. Note: this recall replaces v1902 (transport canada recall 2019-306). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety risk: if a vehicle's turning radius is increased, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the jam nuts on the steering stopper bolts with new spiralock nuts. The bolts and extensions will also be cleaned and/or replaced, as necessary.

  • Recall 2020429 [Canada]: Electrical
Issue: on certain trucks, the ground cable that connects the starter motor to the frame could break. If this happens, the engine may crank slowly or not at all, causing the vehicle not to start. Additionally, if a driver repeatedly attempts to start the truck after the cable has broken, the power steering hose could act as a conductor and overheat. This can cause the power steering hose to rupture and create a power steering fluid leak. Safety risk: power steering fluid that leaks onto a hot surface could cause a fire. Corrective actions: isuzu will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the starter ground cable and inspect the power steering hose for damage. The hose will be replaced, as necessary.

  • Recall 2020143 [Canada]: Electrical
Issue: on certain trucks, the wire harness from the relay box was not properly routed. As result, the wire harness could be damaged by contact with the leaf spring hanger bracket. If this happens, the engine could stall. This can also cause the anti-lock brake system (abs) not to work properly. A damaged wire harness could also cause a short circuit. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could create the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loss of abs could also increase the risk of a crash. In addition, a short circuit could create the risk of fire. Corrective actions: isuzu will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the wire harness for damage. If necessary, it will be replaced. Additional clamps will be installed to move the harness away from the leaf spring hanger bracket.

  • Recall 2019452 [Canada]: Electrical
Issue: the main power wire to the relay box may have a loose connection. This could cause the wire to overheat or melt, and result in a loss of electrical power to the vehicle. Safety risk: a loss of electrical power to the vehicle could result in an engine stall and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to an authorized service center to inspect the main power wire bolt. If excess insulation is found, it will be trimmed and the bolt will be properly tightened. If the wire harness and/or relay box are damaged, they will be repaired or replaced.

  • Recall 2019306 [Canada]: Steering
Issue: on certain vehicles, the jam nut for the steering stopper bolt on the left-front knuckle may loosen and allow the bolt to back away from the knuckle. This could result in an increase in the turning radius of the vehicle in left turns. A change in turning radius could make it difficult to make sharp turns. Safety risk: if a vehicle's turning radius is increased, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the jam nuts on the steering stopper bolts. The nuts will be tightened and loctite will be applied to the nut and bolt. If a bolt is found damaged or missing, the assembly will be replaced.

  • Recall 2018590 [Canada]: Structure
On certain f-series cab-forward trucks, there may be insufficient warning to the operator when the locking lever that secures the cab is left unlatched after servicing or maintenance. If a driver does not ensure the cab is properly latched before driving, the cab may tilt unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: isuzu will remind owners of the need to secure the cab locking lever and will provide further measures, including additional warning features and an additional label and updates to the owner’s manuals.
