NHTSA Mandated Recalls
  • Recall 23060 [USA]: The leaking brake accumulator switch could cause electrical power interruption and could cause the assist feature of brakes not to recharge. also, fluid loss could lead to sudden loss of power assistance tothe braking system, which could result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.
Brake accumulator switch which controls hydraulic fluid flow to and from the engine driven pump, could leak, causing loss of fluid in the power brake assist system. This leak is also in the vicinity of electrical wiring.
replace brake accumulator switches with revised seals.
system: brake accumulator switch.Vehicle desription: passenger cars.

  • Recall 23627 [USA]: Loss of fluid could lead to loss of power assist to the braking system, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident, and the expelled fluid from the hose failure could cause an engine compartment fire.
High pressure fluid supply hose could rupture causing loss of fluid of the brake power assist system.
install new power hydraulic hose of a different specification.
system: high pressure hose. Vehicle description: passenger cars, 4 door sedans.

  • Recall 26428 [USA]: This may allow the cars front suspension to settle ontothe bump stop on one side.
Certain front suspension lower spring pan fixings may fail due to stress corrosion.

system: electrical/brake lamp switch.Vehicle description: passenger cars.

  • Recall 1990032 [Canada]: Brakes
The power brake high pressure supply hose may rupture, causing loss of fluid and consequent loss of power boost with an added risk of an underhood fire due to expelled fluid in the engine compartment. Correction: power brake hydraulic hose will be replaced on affected vehicles.

  • Recall 1990033 [Canada]: Brakes
The power brake accumulator switches, which control the flow of fluid to and from the hydraulic accumulator, may fail due to an interruption of electrical power thereby preventing the power assist feature of the brakes from recharging. This could result in decreased braking efficiency and a possible vehicle crash where minimum stopping distances are required. Correction: brake accumulator switches will be replaced.

  • Recall 1988018 [Canada]: Suspension
Failure of certain front suspension lower spring pan fixing bolts due to stress corrosion will cause the vehicle's front suspension to settle onto the bump stop on one side. Correction: front suspension fixing pan spring bolts will be replaced.

I have a jaguar xj6 1988 for about 3 years i never use it until december 2007. I became involved in an accident around dec. 15 2007. The police say that it was my fault because i was moving to flordia during that time i did not fight the case because this is the only vehicle that i have now am using it more often. But i always notice that this car have some problems with the brake system. I though that it was the break pad but is no in good condition. Looking over the internet i found that this car has a recall for a long time which i didn't know about it. Why i was never aware of this. I need to know what i have to do with this problem. *tr
