Mazda B-series Truck 1995

• Recall 67470 [USA]: A vehicle fire could occur with or without the engine running.
  Mazda is recalling model year 1995 through 1997 and model year 2001 through 2003 trucks equipped with texas instruments speed control deactivation switch (scds) and/or anti-lock brake system (abs) and manufactured on or before december 5, 2002. A component of the cruise control deactivation switch may deteriorate over time and develop a leak. This occurrence could cause the switch to overheat, smoke or burn which could result in an under hood fire.
  mazda will notify owners that dealers will install a universal fused jumper harness on the cruise control deactivation switch free of charge. The safety recall began on december 11, 2009. Owners may contact mazda at 1-800-222-5500 option #6.

  Carbonised grease may accumulate between the contact points in the ignition switch reducing the insulation performance inside the switch. In this condition the switch may generate heat resulting in smoke and in the worst case a fire.

  Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of cmvss 120 - tire selection and rims for vehicles other than passenger cars. Wheels were supplied without the required rim markings. Correction: since there is no risk to vehicle safety, mazda will not be taking any further action in this regard.

Tl* the contact owns a 1995 mazda b4000. The contact stated the key failed to release from the ignition. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who confirmed the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 4,691.

The interior part of my tailgate has broken twice during regular use. Now the tailgate will not open and as i am disabled it is difficult to put my equipment into the truck bed. *tr

Dome light stays on while driving day or night. It is illegal to drive with the light on at night. The door ajar chime sticks and windshield wipers will sometimes come on by themselves while driving. I have read many complaints about this on your website. I had this problem fixed while under warranty and now same problem again. No recall? Could be a short in the wiring. Obviously something is sticking. *nm

Dt: the consumer owns a 1995 mazda b-2300 pick-up. While filling the gas tank he noticed gasoline leaking onto the ground underneath the truck. Upon inspection of the vehicle it was determined that fuel tank filler pipe cracked and was causing the gasoline to leak onto the ground. Due to the heat and dryness in this area it would cause the plastic to crack. The service dealer stated this filler pipe needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated they could not do anything about this problem. *ak updated 11/15/05. *jb

Vehicle was parked in 1st gear on a slight slope, 30 minutes later rolled back and collided with a second vehicle. I note that odi #963255 reports a very similar incident with a 1994 ford ranger, which is the same truck as mazda B2300. I parked the 5-speed mazda pickup in an empty parking lot at around 8:10 am. Vehicle was parked in 1st gear on a slight slope, emergency brake not engaged. Vehicle has been parked this way in the lot more than 50 times in the year i have owned the vehicle. At around 8:40 am i was informed that my truck had rolled back across the parking lot and struck another vehicle. Upon arrival, i saw my truck with its rear bumper impaled amid the left rear fender of a second vehicle, which (according to its owner) had been parked approximately 20 minutes after mine had been parked. I checked my truck and verified that the shifter was still in first gear. *ak

Consumer was driving and he applied brakes, the abs warning light came on. Also, the parking brake light came on, and remained on for a long time. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for diaagnostic test. Dealer changed the front brake pads. *ak

Intermittently while driving along the windshield wipers come on without command. The dealer and manufacturer have been notified about the problem. The problem has not been corrected. Please provide any further information. *ak
