  Mitsubishi is recalling certain model year 2004-2010 endeavor vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, kentucky, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, virginia, west virginia, wisconsin, and washington d.C. Cold states include north dakota, south dakota, nebraska, kansas, oklahoma, colorado, wyoming, montana, idaho, washington, oregon, and utah. Adjoining states include arkansas, tennessee, and north carolina. In severe corrosive environments where road salts are frequently used in winter vehicles may be exposed to road debris (mud) mixed with road salt. This material can become trapped between a reinforcing bracket and the fuel filler pipe, potentially causing corrosion. Over time, corrosion could create a leak in the fuel filler pipe that could result in a fuel leakage when fueling the vehicle.

• Recall 76553 [USA]: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
  Mitsubishi is recalling 45,988 my 2005-2007 endeavor, galant, eclipse coupe, and my 2007 eclipse spyder vehicles. The bracket that is the attachment point for the left rear fuel tank mounting strap may have been improperly formed during a metal stamping process. The process may have caused the metal to have a split in the area where the bolt that holds one of the two fuel tank straps to the underside of the vehicle is located. In the event the fuel tank is full and the vehicle is subject to a severe collision, the bracket may break and allow the fuel tank to drop down, possibly causing a fuel leak.
  dealers will inspect to see if the left rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket has splitting beyond a specific limit. Vehicles with moderate to severe splitting will be repaired using a reinforcement cap, a special structural adhesive, and a rivet to reinforce the fuel tank mounting bracket.   Mitsubishi is recalling 120,000 my 2004-2006 endeavor passenger vehicles. During vehicle use, the ignition key interlock cable (which is a component of the interlock system) may allow the interlocking cam to fall forward and allow the ignition key to be removed from the ignition switch when the gearshift mechanism is not in the park position.

  Certain vehicles, operated in areas where road salts are frequently used in winter, may be exposed to road debris (mud) mixed with road salt. This material can become trapped between a reinforcing bracket and the fuel filler pipe, potentially causing corrosion. Over time, corrosion could create a leak in the fuel filler pipe that could result in fuel leakage when fueling the vehicle. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace the fuel filler pipe of vehicles equipped with the first-generation version. Vehicles assembled with the second-generation filler pipe will be inspected and, if severe corrosion on the fuel filler pipe is observed, the pipe will be replaced with a third-generation version. For vehicles where corrosion of the fuel filler pipe is not observed, an anti-corrosion wax-like material will be applied to the filler pipe, and the inner wheel well shield will be replaced with an updated part that provides improved protection against mud intrusion and accumulation. ** note: this recall supersedes recall 2010050.**

  On certain vehicles, the software programming in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning (hvac) controller may allow a combination of numerous data inputs to temporarily overload the calculation capacity of the controller, resulting in incorrect signals to be transmitted to the heater case mode door. This may cause the mode door to move to unselected positions during heater operation until the controller recovers and returns to proper operation. Over time, this excessive movement may damage the mode door shaft. These conditions could affect defroster performance, resulting in delayed clearing of the windshield, which could compromise safe vehicle operation and increase the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will replace the hvac controller assembly, inspect the mode-door shaft for possible damage, and repair the mode-door shaft if necessary.

• Ignition-park interlock system investigation # PE08006

  The subject vehicle ignition-park interlock and shift lock (brake-shift interlock) systems are mechanically actuated.The systems utilize two cable assemblies that connect to a plastic housing mounted to the shift lever mechanism.Within the housing is a lever (interlock lever) that the ignition-park interlock cable connects to.When the interlock lever is positioned in its rearward travel range, the ignition key removal is prevented; when the lever is positioned in its forward position, key removal is allowed.According to mitsubishi, the ignition key interlock cable may allow the interlock lever to fall forward during vehicle use.In this state the ignition key can be removed from the ignition switch when the gearshift mechanism is not in the park position.If the driver does not shift to park before removing the key and fails to engage the parking brake, the vehicle could roll and a crash could occur.Most of the reported crash incidents were minor in nature involving unoccupied vehicles rolling from a parked condition and striking other vehicles or objects.The single injury incident occurred when the operator parked the vehicle, exited, and was subsequently struck by the vehicle as it rolled away.The type and severity of the injuries were not described.In a letter dated march 21, 2008, mitsubishi advised nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall to address this condition (see www.Safercar.Gov, recall action 08v-139 for further details); remedy details and timing are to be determined.Accordingly the investigation is closed.

I just had to pay for a repair for the fuel filler pipe. It was leaking as i would fill the car with gas. This model had a recall for this problem but my car vin was not included.T he part they put down on the bill was "the recall kit". I feel that mine should have been covered also. *tr

The gas tank up on top is leaking gas onto the pipe, i have looked in all the local junk yards and they have told me that their vehicles in the yard all have the same problem. *tr

Windshield randomly fogs over. Heat switches randomly between heat and ac. Gas pedal sticks even when applying pressure to brakes car acts like the gas pedal is floored. Car lunges forward even when brakes are applied. Vehicle can be stationary and still lunges also has happened when it's in motion has happened in city and and rural areas.

A.C. Is draining into the interior of the vehicle causing the carpet and flooring on the driver side under to the driver seat to become soaked through and will not drain out. On several occasions, footwear have slipped on the break and gas pedals due to moisture accumulated on the bottom of the shoe. The shoe is not able to dry and properly grip the gas and brake pedals due to the accumulated moisture soaked through the carpeting under foot. Have contacted local mitsubishi dealership: the a.C. Issue is a known issue and they will not cover the cost of repair even though it is causing safety issues with vehicle stopping and accelerating. Contacted mitsubishi corporate and received the same communication that was relayed by the local dealership.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 mitsubishi endeavor. The contact inquired about a recall and was informed that there was no recall associated with the vin. The contact stated that the fuel indicator illuminated and fuel was leaking from the vehicle while parked. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The contact called a local dealer (valley imports, 402 40th st s fargo, nd 58103), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the unknown recall had expired. The failure mileage was unknown.

The ac gets cold on the driver side but the passenger side only the heat works. You can change the temperature but nothing happens it will remain the same. I took my car to the dealer and was told that there is no recall concern ing this issue but from what i have gathered from other customers who own this type of dr they are having the exact same issue. The dealer can't figure out what is the problem and i paid $1,600 for an unfixed ac unit.

Originally the liftgate would not open only the glass top would open. A common issue according to several mitsubishi endeavor owner forums for endeavors from 2004 to 2008. Recently both liftgate and glass would not open at all unless i used the manual release located on the inside part of the liftgate. However, while driving recently the liftgate and or glass top actuated itself causing the liftgate to unlock on its own and open. If it were not for the dinging of the dash informing me one of my doors was open i would have never noticed. This could have caused the contents of my trunk to spill out on the road and only god knows what could've happened. My mechanic recommended i change both latches to be safe ($100 each) however this is a reoccurring problem so it would only be a matter of time before i'd be back having to replace them again. I verified this with testimonials from other endeavor owners via multiple forums and repair blogs....
