Fuel leaks from fuel injectors investigation # RQ99021
In october of 1995, nisan conducted a safety improvement campaign, 95i-006.The campaign recalled maximas (1985-88), 200sx (1987-88), 300zx (1984-88, and infinity m30 (1990-92), for fuel leaking from the fuel injectors. The remedy called for a replacement of the fuel injectors and related hoses on the affected vehicles. The recall was influenced by ea94-018, involving over 680,000 1984-89 maxima and 300zx vehicles, and was originally initiated as pe94-018 with 25 complaints, for a complaint rate of 4 per 100k.Odi has received 34 complaints for the 1990-92 stanzas and 240sxs, for fuel leaking in the engine compartment from the fuel injectors, for a complaint rate of 10 per 100k.Fuel in the presence of an ignition source can lead to a vehicle fire. The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate whether the 1990-92 stanzas and 240sxs should be recalled.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle's fuel filler tube was corroded. The dealer inspected the vehicle on 08/14/06 and determined that the fuel filler tube was corroded and needed to be replaced. There was a nhtsa recall #95v244000, regarding the fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin. The vehicle was registered in connecticut for the past 4 years and was purchased in hawaii. The manufacturer was contacted on 07/26/06 and determined that the vin archives needed to be inspected to conclude that the vin should be included in the recall.

The fuel line is cracked and is leaking profusely. This particular hose is an after market product and is assumed to be hazardous. The original hose was replaced before the consumer purchased the vehicle. *ak *jb

Fuel injectors are leaking gas from the injector seals. My brother owns a geo prizm with a toyota motor in it with almost 300,000 miles on it and has never had this problem ever. My nissan stanza only has 133,000 on it and i have seen complaints on web forums about 240sx with same ka24e sohc motor having the same problems with less mileage on them. They switched to the ka24de dohc engine in later year stanza's. I think they also did so on the 240sx too, but not sure which years this happened. I know the stanza used ka24e motor from 1990 to 1992 production years and then switched to the ka24de after which could possibly have different injector setup then the ka24e which is what i have. *jb

1991 nissan stanza fuel injector leakage, timing belt guide breakage, cv joint failure. What will it take for a recall on these leaking fuel injectors, someone's death? This car is a piece of junk!!! My teenage daughter has been driving the car and i am very concerned that this problem is allowed to continue (no recall). *jb

Fuel injector(s) are leaking raw fuel. The manufacturer presently has a recall campaign to replace leaking fuel injectors on various makes & models up to 1988 model year. It seems to me to be a similar problem to which i am experiencing on my vehicle. However, the manufacturer's rep. I spoke to at the recall campaign telephone number stating my vehicle was not part of the present campaign; i would have to wait & hope for a possible future recall campaign on my vehicle. I am worried that condition may become worse until such time and pose a potential fire hazard. I am extremely concerned about this since vehicle is parked within an attached garage directly under my children's bedroom. *ak
