• Recall 41895 [USA]: Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
  Some passenger vehicles equipped with 4.0l v8 engines have a condition in which the nylon tubing used in the fuel rail construction may degrade and crack. Additionally, the 1995 model year uses a unique underhood fuel return line that may crack. Cracking of the fuel rail or return line tubing can result in a fuel leak into the engine compartment.
  dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine fuel rail with a new stainless steel fuel rail. Dealers will also install a revised chassis fuel return line. The recall began on june 2, 2004, for 1996-1997 oldsmobile aurora vehicles. Owners of 1995 cadillacs and 1996-1997 oldsmobile aurora were sent letters on august 6, 2004. • Recall 7653 [USA]: In a crash, an occupant may receive more severe injuries if there is excessive slack in the shoulder belt.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The rear shoulder belt(s) do not retract. A retainer could separate from a rear seat shoulder belt retractor which results in the retractor return spring becoming disengaged.

  Certain vehicles may exhibit a condition in which the rear shoulder belt(s) do not retract due to the retractor return spring becoming disengaged from the spool shaft. Correction: dealers are to inspect both rear shoulder belt retractors for correct function and install a spring cover retaining strap to each retractor.   On march 3, 2004, general motors notified odi that it was recalling approximately 94,000 my 1995-97 oldsmobile aurora vehicles equipped with 4.0l v8 engines (rpo l47 - vin8 c) to address concerns with underhood fuel leakage from cracked fuel rails and, in some of the vehicles, cracked fuel return lines. According to gm, the nylon tubing (pa12) used in the fuel rail construction in these vehicles may degrade and crack.Gms supplier attributed the cracking to the combined effects of heat, time, alcohol fuel, fuel pressure cycling, and design stresses.In addition, gm stated that the my 1995 aurora uses a unique underhood fuel return line that may also crack at unusually high rates.Gm dealers will install a new fuel rail constructed out of stainless steel in all of the recalled vehicles and will also install a revised chassis fuel return line in the my 1995 auroras. On april 16, 2004, general motors notified odi that it was adding approximately 389,000 my 1995-97 cadillac seville, deville and eldorado vehicles equipped with 4.6l v8 engines (rpos ld8 and l37 - vin8 y and 9) to recall 04v-110.The recalled cadillacs will receive the new stainless steel fuel rails.This engineering analysis is closed.

• Fuel rail leakage investigation as of 20031030

  The fuel rail assemblies used in the subject vehicles were manufactured by dana.The fuel rail jumper tubes were made of monolayer nylon 12 (pa12).In model year (my) 1998, the jumper tube material was changed from pa12 to m-bond (a multi-layer ptfe/pa12).In addition, all service parts produced since the end of production 1997 use the m-bond jumper tubes. Material analysis performed by dana on failed fuel rails showed that the mono-layer nylon 12 jumper tubes are susceptible to environmental stress cracking (esc).Gm believes the esc is a result of heat, time, alcohol blended fuel, fuel pressure cycling, and designed in stress. Eight of the gm complaints are duplicative of odi complaints.Odi has received 77 of its 123 complaints in the past 12 months.Fuel rail part sales over the last three years range from 3.0 percent of production for the my 1997 cadillac vehicles to 13.1 percent for the my 1995 auroras.At least one of the fire incidents occured while the vehicle was parked within a garage attached to the consumers home.The fire resulted in damage to the dwelling as well as the total loss of the vehicle.This investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis.

We had trouble with starting the car off and on since we acquired it in the fall of 2014. May of 2015 it finally simply wouldn't start and was diagnosed as an ignition switch malfunction and replaced. The replacement is now not working either.

I had just purchased my 1995 oldsmobile aurora in 8/2007 with under 60,000 miles and i noticed the card was slamming into gear and also not shifting correctly. Almost like transmission was slipping. I spent over 1200.00 in motor mount repairs and the issue cont. Until i pulled off from a 2waystop and my car would not mv from the middle of the street. I was almost hit by oncoming traffic on both sides of me and i had a small child strapped in a car seat in the back seat...At this point i took my car to hv the transmission rebuilt. The issue continued after this and i was told to replace the alternator. I did this and the issue stopped but i cont to hv electrical prob with the car like the windows not rolling down or seat not able to mv bk/frth. I was able to use the sunroof but this has stopped again recently and the issues with power have started again. It is beginning to get shifty and i am concerned to the point of anxiety when crossing intersections. Also i was told when i took my car to hv a tune up done i was told there was an electrical issue as the mechanic informed me he rmvd a fuse which seemed to be smoking. This had since been rplcd. *tr

Transmission was 'stuck' in 2nd gear due to the plastic components in the shift solenoids breaking. Cost $700.00 in repair bills and gm has a service bulletin out advising their locations of this problem and state that the replacement gm parts are now metal. *tr

A police officer gave him an extinguisher to put out the fire. The vehicle was destroyed along with all of the wiring under the hood. The vehicle was towed to a junkyard. On october 22, 2007, the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 04v110000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The purchase date, powertrain, and dealer information were unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 80,000.

Re: nhtsa:04v110000 - 1995 oldsmobile aurora i have had a fuel rail failure in this vehicle and gm states that the recall notice only applies to 1996-1997 vehicles. Does this mean that because this problem started and was observed in the 1995 models, that those of us with the vehicles that the problem was initially observed in can just plain go to hell and suffer the loss of a vehicle or worse still be consumed in a fire started by this defect and be politely told, "sorry, this only applies to the vehicles sent a recall notice". I believe that your recall id 04v110000 should apply to all vehicles affected, not just those gm has sent notices. It was sent to 1995 cadillac owners which has the same engine as the 1995 aurora, the aurora is 4.0 litre and the cadillac 4.6 litres - identical engines but a smaller displacement. Same configuration and fuel rail components. I was indeed very fortunate that neither a fire or other serious event happened and only wish that gm would at least acknowledge the fact that this failure was the result of the failure of the part involved in the following attachment, and be compensated for the repair of said component. *tr

Tried starting car. Would not turn over. Car backfired under hood. Restarted car and parked it in garage. Car had an unusual odor. 35 minutes later, car was found on fire, resulting in a total loss to vehicle and damage to garage. Fire department stated fire started in/near area of fuel injector. No sure of oem. Consumer is requesting compensation.

Center cup holders are to shallow, when i am drinking a hot drink, the contents of the drink are spilled on to me when the container falls out of the holder. The result is driver/passenger getting burned by hot coffee. No matter the size of the container, the holder is to shallow. Uncapped containers can not be used in the center cup holder without falling out on turns or curves. The center cup holder is useless since they are to shallow resulting in anything being placed in it being thrown out in turns/curves, causing driver to take eyes off the road and catch items spilling or falling. *nm

I was driving home on the highway doing about 50-55 and the transmission just went into 2nd gear so i had to drive 20 miles at about 35 mph. Luckily there was no one around so there was no accident. At this point in time i haven't done anything to fix it except to have the codes read by a gm dealer and they didn't know what was wrong. I have found out that the shift solenoids are bad due to a failure in the plastic bracket that holds them in place. *jb

Tried to start vehicle, vehicle backfired. A few minutes later, i noticed that smoke was coming out from under the car, and the ice on the vehicle was melting. I opened the hood and discovered that the engine was on fire. I was able to extinguish the fire with a blanket.*ak

While reversing out of the driveway onto a tow truck the support assembly steering column jacket broke. When this occurred steering wheel became loose and flopped around like a broken arm. The cause of the column breaking has yet to be determined. *ak

1995 oldsmobile aurora would not start. *bf the second time the vehicle came to halt while on the interstate. After a deep diagnosis, it was determined that the pump assembly was burnt and a new pump module needed to be installed. The wiring to the fuel pump had overheated and melted the insulation off one of the wires. *jb

While driving 5 mph consumer smelled smoke coming from the vents. Vehicle caught on fire. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. Vehicle was towed, and totaled. *ak

Received recall notice for 95 aurora after repairs for odor of gas came into car. Gas had came from brake line on the motor caused more problem. *bf recall# 04v110000. *sc

Consumer received a recall notice for the fuel rail. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer, and they ordered the part. But consumer was told that dealer will charge him $426.00 for repairs. When consumer inquired as to why he was told that replacing the fuel return chassis full return line was not included in the recall. Consumer did not understand this because he had a fuel leaking problem, and the recall stated that the remedy was for the dealer to install a chassis fuel return line. While applying the brake pedal went o the floor, and vehicle continued to accelerate. Consumer noticed that the vehicle hesitated and surged. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the idle speed motor and egr valve needed to be replaced. *ak

Nhtsa recall campaign 04v110000: fuel rail tubing; three weeks prior to this complaint the recall was performed. Currently, the vehicle has a tendency to stall without warning. Once this occurs the brakes and steering are affected, losing power. This constantly puts the occupants in jeopardy. *ak

Gm recall of olds aurora 1995 fuel rail was replaced by dealer and a part of the rail,the regulator,with a charge of $154.00 plus tax desposal fee etc for a costof$175.62.There was no problem with the rail and it's fitting before the recall and gm will not honor the total cost of the recall.

Consumer received recall 04-v110-000 concerning fuel rail tubing. The recall stated that dealer was responsible for towing. *ak the manufacturer was contacted and the consumer request that his vehicle be towed to the dealer. While driving, the consumer smelled gas, got home, and noticed that the plastic fuel line system was leaking gasoline, and causing stalling. The engine wouldn't start again. The car has a fuel leaking in the return line fuel system. I towed the car to armen cadillac-oldsmobile inc. For the recall and they said that my car not included in the recall! And i believed what they told me and i accept to pay the repair from my pocket, and i got the recall letter before i pick up the car and i showed them the car but the employee told it's too late and i have to pay it and i did. And i fill out form for the oldsmobile asked them for the refund but with no response from them !!!*jb

While making a turn the vehicle stalled . The consumer was unable to restart the vehicle. The consumer smelled a gasoline odor coming from the vents. The driver informed the mechanic this problem has occurred more than once and has not been resolved. The mechanic also informed the consumer that this vehicle was not part of a recall. Consumer received recall 04v110000/fuel concerning rail tubing. Consumer took the vehicle to dealer for recall repairs. Consumer was told by the dealer that the vehicle was not under the recall, and besides it had too many miles on it, and they refused to accommodate the consumer, who had this problem before. On july 21, 2004, while driving to work in my 1995 oldsmobile aurora, i smelled gasoline fumes. I quickly stopped my vehicle and turned it off. Fuel was dumping from the engine onto the road. I immediately moved away from the vehicle. A few minutes later i returned and opened the hood. The fuel had been spraying from one of the nylon fuel lines that run in serial between each of the fuel injectors. I lost approximately 4 gallons of gasoline during this short drive of about 1/2 mile. I was grateful and surprised that the car hadn't caught fire or exploded since so much fuel was lost. Gm informs me that there is no recall for this yet they apparently have a similiar problem with one of their chevy vehicles that does have a recall in effect.

While driving, a gas odor was coming out from the vent. The driver was able to pull over. The driver lifted up the hood and without warning the vehicle caught fire. The driver was able to extinguished the fire. The vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the fuel rail needed replacement. I have a 1995 olds aroura and i have had to have the fuel rails replaced ,the fuel rail keep spring leaks shooting fuel 10' in the air with the hood open.This was a costly repair and now gm is telling me that i am not part of the recall when taken to the dealership.This is insane the fuel rail was degrading and causing fuel to leak,what should i do put the old fuel back on and let it catch fire and then sue gm for not repairing the the problem. *ak

The 1997 aurora was recall and repaired under recall 04v110000. On july 7, 2004 the consumer smelled gas inside the 1995 aurora and had it towed to a repair shop. There he learned his 1995 aurora had experienced the exact defect as stated in the recall for the 1997 aurora ( fuel rail leaking gasoline). The consumer submitted a claim for reimbursement. The manufacturer reimbursed the consumer for the fuel rail but not for the regulator which the dealer also replaced. *nm

Complaint regarding 1995 oldsmobile aurora and 1997 oldsmobile aurora recall.*mr consumer owns both the 1995 and 1997 aurora in which the 1997 was repaired under recall. On july 7, 2004, he smelled gas inside the vehicle and had it towed to a repair shop. There he learned his 1995 aurora had experienced the exact defect as stated in the recall for the 1997 aurora ( fuel rail leaking gasoline). I was driving down the road (about 40 mph) when the steering wheel dropped onto my lap. The drive shaft had broken. I took the car to dealership and they replaced it, costing me $639.00. This is something that should not have happened and could have caused a serious accident. *nm

While driving at any speed consumer smelled a strong odor of gasoline inside of the vehicle. Upon close inspection under the hood the consumer found that the fuel rail had a pin hole in it. This was the second time that this happened to this vehicle. There is a recall for the 1996 and 97 models but, not for the 1995.*ak

Consumer was in his garage when he smelled gas. He took the vehicle to the dealer, where he was told that this vehicle' make/model and year was on recall. However, this vehicle was not included due to the vin. The manufacturer was contacted and he told the consumer that the 1996-1997 vehicles were recalled and they would pay. After manufacturer found out that this vehicle had 100,000 miles they changed their minds. The vehicle was repaired at consumer's expense.*ak

My check engine light came on when i was on the free way when all of sudden as i slowed down my car lost power and control. I skid across the freeway and almost got killed. It started back up ten min later and took it to shop they said code was input speed sensor and egr valve. Cost 2000$ for repair plus labor. *ak

Gm is not standing by their fuel rail recall for the 1995 olds auroras. I had to have mine fixed and it cost $400.00 and time off from work. They are fixing the 96 and 97 auroras. I am the owner of a 1995 olds aurora. I have had two fuel rail leaks in the last two weeks. A gm recall was annnounced last week. The first leak was on the fuel rail to the motor from the firewall. That line was replaced with a rubber fuel injector gas line. The second leak was an inch long crack on one of the nylon jumper tubes between two injuectors. This second leak sprayed the top of the motor with gas. I don't know why it didn't catch fire. The good lord was with me coming home from work. I replaced that jumper with the rubber fuel line also. Now i fear driving the car. I have talked to the olds reps and they indicate i should have the fuel rail replaced. But the replacement is the identical type fuel rail. It makes no sense to replace defective with defective at my expense! The gm recall is 04014 and it indicates that it may be may before a fix is available. I need advise on how to proceed.*ak

On january 28, 2004 my 1995 oldsmobile aurora spontaneously caught fire in my driveway. I had just left the car after pulling the car to the top of the driveway and my wife was about to enter the car to go to work when she saw a flash, then smoke. The car subsequently became engulfed in flames. Fortunately we were not injured. Our insurance company is declaring the car a total loss. My second car.... A 1997 seville sts...Along with the aurora is mentioned in a report posted on msnbc on nov. 4th. We have been in contact with general motors and they are not willing to address my loss (deductibles), nor address the looming potential for the same to occur with the seville (ive requested an inspection / repair of the fuel rail.) i find gms position extremely disconcerting given the potential for injury, or loss of life. I own a 1995 oldsmobile aurora. In january 2004 i was driving on the highway at about 70 mph when out of no where the car shifted into 2nd gear. This abrubt change in gears/rpm/engine noise nearly caused me to get in a accident. The shift solenoid inside the transmission failed, and the car defaulted to 2nd gear. Its my understanding that this is a very common problem, and there was actually a dealer update in 96 or 1997 from gm, who basically admitted a design flaw. This flaw alowed a filter to slide in and out of place constantly smacking the shift soleniod which eventually casued it to snap. The update was a l shaped bar to hold the filter in place. This also cost me about $400 to fix. If gm reliezed this saftey flaw in all of there oldsmobile aurora's up to 97, and cadillacs i believe it should become a recall, this type of faliure is not acceptable, someone could be seriously hurt. *ak

Dealer replaced the fuel rail at 50,000 miles/62,000 mile's and again at 66,000 miles, but problem was still occurring. *ak (bladder leak, gas leak, fluid leak, fluid coolant leak) there was a strong gas smell, transmission problem, the engine hesitation as if it were going to backfire, overheating, banging noise when the gears were shifted which was an intermittent failure per pcm. Company advertisers car will not need tuneup until 100,000 miles, i have had the car for only 60k miles and have had to have it tuned up twice at $600+ a pop. At that point car was stalling not delivering the power that it usually does.*ak

The fuel delivery system, or the material from which it made from is of questionable integrity. I had a return fuel line with a crack that needed repair. Two months down the line my fuel rail cracked. On both occasions i can not believe there was not a fire. Gm at this point does not want to admit or acknowledge that there is a problem. Rail injector tubing fractured three (3) times. First time my wife drove it 17 miles at 60 mph not understanding what was going on. Luckily the car did not catch fire, but it took weeks to get the smell of gasoline out of the car and the ventilation system. Had someone drove by and flipped out a cigarette or a small electrical arc in the engine compartment, i have no doubt it would have went off like a bomb. I caught the two (2) other fractured tubes by checking the engine before she drove it and when she returned home. Finally, i had it replaced, at a cost of around $400, but with no guarantee that the same thing would not happen again. Oldsmobile engine engineering really fumbled the ball on this design of fuel delivery in the engine compartment, plastic tubing to carry fuel to the injectors (at around 50 psi) in a hot engine compartment. Sad part is that the new replacement part was made out of the same material. You ask the questions below; was there a fire? Was there a crash? Property damage? Reported to police? A rather ironic set of questions! Had there been a fire at 60 mph, i'm sure a crash would have happened, property damage would be a given and the police would have been called. But for what purpose,the fractured plastic injector tubing (which created the whole mess) would have been consumed by the fire and everyone would be asking "what could have caused this?" i believe i have provided you with the answer to that last question. Sad part is that i see many of these oldsmobile aurora driving around all over the country, and unfortunately no one with the power to do so, like yourself, feel compelled to let the american consumers know that this very dangerous situation exist and make oldsmobile admit it has a life threatening problem in it's fuel delivery system. A gas leak developed in the engine compartment due to a defective fuel injector rail assembly, which had a crack in it. Two months later, the fuel line developed another leak, this time spraying gas all over the engine, creating an extreme fire hazzard. I am having continuous problems with losing power between 1500 and 3000 rpms at any speed. The car will sputter and jerk then once out of the range of 3000 rpm the car seems to regain the power that it didn't have earlier. The electric system has never shut down completely and the check engine light has only come on three times then gone off again not to return until months later. I have not had an accident related to this problem yet. But i am afraid that one time i will be trying to get across an intersection and i will lose power and get hit.

When shifting from park to reverse, the transmission engaged roughly causing damage to engine mounts and well as internal transmission damage. Car now shifts abruptly under normal conditions while not shifting on some occasions. Car taken to dealer and they informed me of pressure control switch failure requiring complete overhaul or raplacement of transmission as well as motor mount replacement. Aside from this most recent problem, the radiator, air compressor, air conditioning hoses and blower fan control module, alternator, ignition coil pack and lower crankcase gasket have all failed within the past seven months. Car currently has about 115,000 miles on it and probably won't live to accumulate many more. Total piece of crap from gm. (oh that sick gm feeling!). *ak

First we were told it was a recall and there would be no charges. Then they changed it to nope all models but yours is under the recall after it was repaired. The shift solenoids on all the 1995 aurora and above go bad while driving. Im my case i was going 70 mph on the interstate when suddenly the car shifted in second gear and was stuck in second gear. I was almost rear ended by another vehicle in addition to the terror i went thru when this happened. There was also no where to pull over as it happened on the bridge. I almost lost control of my vehicle and wrecked.Those are 2 shift selenoids that are located inside the transmission, that the dealer had to remove the pan to get to it. Usually one goes bad but they replace both since they already have the pan open. It takes about less than a half an hour to replace. The parts are supposedly made out of plastic and oldsmobile is very aware of this and they know how dangerous it is. They get thousands of auroras in their shop for that problem. I belong to edmunds.Com and i must've read at least 50+ complaints about this problem. This always occurrs as someone is driving down the road at a higher rate of speed when suddenly the car shifts in second gear without warning and nothing you can do about it. A few people stated that they almost wrecked. Please let me know.*ak

While driving the vehicle 10 mph, smelled gas odor, then it suddenly caught on fire under the hood on the driver side close to the firewall. The vehicle was totaled.

12,808 miles (2-29-96) seal, lower crankcase replaced. 34,603 miles (11-25-97) diagnose electrical problems-replace radio. 44,513 miles (8-19-98) diagnose electrical problems, replace alternator controller, pcm/vcm (computers) 49,098 miles (12-30-98) diagnose electrical problems, again replace alternator (alternator is causing computers to fail) 63,420 miles (3-1-2000)- i purchase at end of my partner?S lease and he leased new aurora-dealer never advise him the electrical problems would be reoccurring. Dealer preformed major 60,000 service and indicated the care was fine. 65,777 miles (7-9-2001). The car backfired while wife was crossing busy intersection and was not very responsive. I was just able to get to local garage next to intersection to try to at least get repair it enough to drive. I had no idea it would require major repair since it had only been 2,357 since it had a complete major 60,000-mile dealer service. The repairs ($2,480) included the ignition module, ecm (computer), electrical brake control module (abs system), and alternator. The diagnostic showed the alternator malfunction was damaging the above components. This is the third alternator in 21,264 miles ( and second emc ). There is a manufacture design problem and the manufacture appears not to be able to fix it. 70.090 miles (5-28-2003) the car was taken in to the dealer because it slams into gear when shifting from park to reverse and shifts rough during normal driving. I was advised that the ecm (computer) was causing the problem and would have to be replaced. After getting the complete car history, i found that it has been an on going problem that gm has not solved. The current dealer was just going to replace the computer until i advised him he needs to check alternator since it appears from past experience it is involved in taking out the computers.

A leak occurred in the fuel rail assemble of my 1995 oldsmobile aurora. A pinhole leak was spraying a fine mist of gas over the entire engine.*ak

Heat shrink fuel injection line between #6-#8 injectors developed a hole and spraying fuel onto intake and ignition wiring. The car smelled of gas inside and the motor was hard to start and backfires some. I've done a temporary repair and have not bought all new rail tubing. This should not be happening at this point. It is too costly for owners to repair for such a small problem.

Failure of computer which controls fuel injection. Problem is most noticeable at low speeds, as when approaching other autos at a traffic light or very slow speed driving. When pressure is released from accelerator pedal the fuel controller increases fuel flow for 0.3 to 1.0 second then slowly reduces flow to normal idle speed. Engine speed increases in this process (with transmission shifted into nuetral to observe it) 500 to 1500 rpm. The problem seems to be worse at elevated ambient temperatures. (above 80 degrees, f.) this is a hazardous condition and several times rear-end collisions have been narrowly averted. Communication with oldsmobile's customer service office have been met with rudeness and the plainly stated position that they are not interested in addressing problems with vehicles out of warranty or owned by aftermarket owners. *ak

The fuel rail is composed of plastic sections of tubing connecting the fuel injectors. These sections develop splits allowing fuel to spray all over the engine. This has happened twice in the past year. Both times i replaced the bad sections with rubber hose and clamps. I believe that if this problem is not addressed every one of these cars will develop the problem at some point in time, possibly resulting in catastrophic fires.

During the recent flood in houston, some water got into my olds aurora. Now, once the doors are locked, they cannot be opened from the inside. The front doors can be opened from the outside if you have a key! This presents a very dangerous situation in which someone can literally become trapped inside the car. All locks should operate manually! The locks in my car worked well before the water seeped in. Now they will not open the doors at all!

Five days after the purchase radiator cracked, car overheated, took to dealership, while speaking with the service manager, i explained the abs/traction control light came on and stays on as of 3rd day after purchase and that the engine was surging and back fire type noise from under the hood during acceleration and the car had no power. The front right fog light was not working the day of purchase and to replace it, i was charged for the replacement bulb. There was no buyers guide on this vehicle on the day i test drove the car nor on the day of purchase, i purchased a one year extended warranty through the dealership in the amount of $1295.00, and was told it covered everything. Service manager was contacted on the day i picked the car up after the radiator repair, and was told the other issues were not corrected at this time due to the warranty not having time to process. A few hours later, i called the service manager to report that the car was running hot , smoking from under the hood and he blew it off as coolant burnoff and if it continued to return it on the following monday, this was on a friday. Was involved in accident that same friday night, yet it was minor and i drove the car home from the scene. I drove to a repair facility on monday, and there is when i was informed that the radiator repair from the previous week was not done and pictures were taken and i met with the sales manager and showed him the pictures, yet he still insisted the repair was done, i e-mailed the photos to gm and oldsmobile with my complaint. Left front seat belt does not always retract when uncoupled. Apperas that the retraction spring may not provide enough tension to enable the seat belt to always retract. My car was missing and hesitating, i took the car in to the dealership and was told it was the leaking of the head gaskets, cost was to be around 3500.00. After dealership removed head gaskets (this was 8 hours of labor and 1200.00 so far for labor) they found a hole in the engine due to corrosive defect. The cost of a new engine (a northstar) would be 8000.00 plus labor. This norhtstar engine should have lasted longer than 82,000. They are advertised to go 100,000 miles without tuneups. I knew that was far fetched...I had my car maintenanced proplerly for all of the mile checkups reported by the manufacturer. Transmission shut down on the interstate was driving 70mph then alll of a sudden it shut down to 35mph and it wouldn't go any faster. Air condition vents are stuck in close position and some of them are not getting air through them at all.

I replaced the bad section of the fuel rail line the first time at 80,000 miles. The second time happened yesterday with a pin hole leak in another section of the heat shrink tubing of the fuel rail connecting the injectors. It again sprayed fuel into the engine compartment until i smelled the gas inside the car. These defects seem to me to be very dangerous, and since it has happened twice to me, i think the fuel line material is defective and needs to be recalled. I

I now have a profuse oil leak. It began at fairly low mileage and diagnosed as a drain plug problem - i had that fixed. The next time it leaked i was informed that it was the oil pan seal - i had that replaced. Now the leak is evidently the crankcase seal, as diagnosed again by the dealer - leaks profusely. Isn't there a recall for this kind of thing - the repair is very very expensive.

This is a 1995 oldsmobile aurora. I am the original owner. The car has less than 70k miles, has been garaged and has not been in any accidents. After driving in winter storms the car was always washed under the chassis in the car wash to remove salt. On 10/5/2006, as i was pulling out of the garage, the brake pedal felt totally soft and the car stopped with difficulty after pumping the brakes many times, etc. Our garage has a high slope into the street. I pulled the car slowly back into the garage and observed brake fluid on my driveway. I raised the car on jacks and i inspected the underbody. The brake fluid lines going towards the back wheels are heavily corroded and a spot was leaking heavily. I have owned several cars in the past and kept them for many years and high mileage but i never faced such a serious safety issue. Imagine if i was driving on the highway, at 65 miles/hour!*jb
