Just purchased this vehicle. Started overheating intermittently and throwing coolant over into the reservoir. The vehicle has a new radiator, thermostat, water pump, it still suddenly overheats and loses fluid. After reading internet information, this is a common problem with subarus. It turns out to be a leaking head gasket (an expensive job). Also information notes that this is a common problem with subaru's at about 154,000 miles. Isn't this considered a defective manufacturing item and should be repaired for free recalled? I was driving home at 11:30 p.M. Alone on a rural highway when suddenly the heat gauge went to hot, i saw steam coming out of the side of the hood. I stopped and waited awhile heat gauge went down, continued to drive heat gauge to hot again. Just prayed and drove home. This was a trip of 8 miles. Upon checking, all coolant had gone over to overflow and blew the top off the overflow container and threw out all the coolant. This is an ongoing problem of adding coolant, lasts about three days, then hot and blows out.
