Fifth Wheel Slide
(September 2014)
On certain Mack models, built between 09/04/2010 and 08/15/2014, with an air slide 5th
wheel, there will be no warning when the output from the VECU gets shorted to GND. This
can cause the 5th wheel to slide without activating the 5th wheel slide switch. This is due to
the fact that the SW in the VECU and Instrument Cluster did not support the fault monitoring
for this function. Performing the below procedure will activate the fault monitoring and
warning.

Repair
1 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking
brake, chocking the rear wheels, and placing the transmission in neutral.
2 Run Accessory kit 85143650 in PTT/Vcads Pro service tool.
3 Reprogram the VECU, MID 144 to the latest software.
4 Reprogram the Instrument Cluster, MID 140 to the latest software.
5 Verify proper Instrument Cluster, and VECU operations.
6 Remove the wheel chocks.
Reimbursement
This repair may be eligible for reimbursement if a product failure was
experienced within time and mileage limits of the applicable Warranty
coverage. Reimbursement is obtained via the normal claim handling
process.
