Engine Data Label
VAH, VHD, VN, VT
FSB 210-001, Engine Data Label
(October 2013)
An engine emissions data label is now required on all engines sold. If a replacement engine
label is needed, dealers can now order factory replacement engine labels from the VOLVO
Parts Technical department.
Previously, these labels could be printed using the VCADS-Pro Service Tool. In order to
supply factory quality replacement labels, all labels should now be ordered via requests from
Parts Technical.
To order a replacement label:
1. Complete the included form with the current label part number, engine serial number, truck
serial number and a PO number. Complete the attached “Required Information” form. Attach
the completed form to the E-Service case.
2. The label will be printed and shipped within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the E-Service case
on Monday through Friday.
3. Your dealer account number will be billed $50 US or $75 CND against your PO number as
"Engine Label."
Note: Applications must be completed and ordered by the dealers only.
Replacement engine labels are needed for a variety of reasons such as: engine replacement
and lost or missing labels. Replacement engine labels are available from 1980 to current.
Note: Replacement engine label requests must be completed and ordered by a certified
VOLVO dealer only.
•
To obtain replacement engine label refer to “Application for Engine Emission or Vehicle

EPA Family Name and/or Emissions Information
The Diesel Emission Reduction Act of 2005 and the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 provide federal funds
for states to implement diesel emission reduction programs, including financial incentives for early replacement of engines
and vehicles. As a result of these and other federal programs, financial incentives are available to truck owners to update their
vehicles to cleaner more efficient units. The process typically requires the vehicle owner to supply the EPA “Engine Family
Name” of the older unit. Obtain the engine family name using the following procedure;
Step 1 – The EPA Family Name is obtained from the “Important Engine Information” label located on the engine’s front valve
cover.
W1078692
Note: The EPA Engine Family is located on every engine label ever produced. The older aluminum plates were steel
stamped with the “Important Engine Information.” Unless the label is missing on the engine, or unreadable, all engine
information is obtained from this label.
Step 2 – If the engine label is missing or unreadable, the EPA Family Name can be obtained for select vehicles from VOLVO
Parts Specification via E-Service.
Sometimes, the EPA Certificate of Conformity is needed. If this information is needed, please provide the EPA Engine Family
Name identified on the “Important Engine Information” label. If the EPA engine family name is not available, complete the
required information below.
If the engine label is missing or unreadable then the EPA is requiring the customer to purchase a new label. This
label can be purchased from VOLVO Trucks North America through a VOLVO dealer.
