• Recall 138999 [USA]: The driver may operate the vehicle with the snow plow headlights on but the marker and tail lamps off, reducing the vehicle's visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
  Volvo trucks north america (volvo) is recalling certain 2004-2019 volvo vhd trucks equipped with snow plow lamp preparation kits. The snow plow headlights can be turned on without other exterior lights, and high beam indicator will not work when the snow plow high beams are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
  volvo will notify owners, and dealers will update the software related to the plow lights, free of charge. The recall began december 19, 2018. Owners may contact volvo customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo's number for this recall is rvxx1804.

• Recall 90789 [USA]: In the event of a crash, an insufficient seat belt weld may prevent the seat belt from properly restraining the occupant. this increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
  Volvo is recalling certain model year 2002-2013 vhd and vn trucks, manufactured from august 4, 2000, through june 22, 2012, and equipped with bench passenger seats. The seat belt d-ring weld may not be sufficient enough to meet the seat belt pull test. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages."

• Recall 51638 [USA]: If the pipes or the cooler inlet pipes fail and are left untreated, the air cleaner and inner fender may be subject to hot exhaust gases, which could lead to a fire.
  On certain trucks equipped with d12d engines, the exhaust gas recirculation (egr) cooler inlet pipes or the pipes that connect the egr valves to the cooler may crack or break.
  dealers will inspect and repair the egr cooler pipes as required and install a heat shield free of charge. An interim owner letter was mailed on february 17, 2006, to advise on precautions that the owner can take until parts become available.   Certain vehicles equipped with a snowplow preparation kit may fail to comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. The snowplow headlamps can be turned on without other exterior lights, and the high beam indicator does not work when the snowplow high beams are turned on, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could allow the vehicle to be operated with the snowplow headlamps on and marker and tail lamps off, making the vehicle harder to see and potentially increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will update vehicle software to correct the non-compliance.

  Certain vehicles may fail to conform to canada motor vehicle safety standard 210 – seatbelt assembly anchorages. The weld used to secure the nut to the center-passenger seatbelt d-ring mounting bracket may not be sufficient to meet the strength requirements of the standard. Failure of the seatbelt d-ring anchorage to restrain the occupant would increase the risk of personal injury during a crash. Correction: dealers will replace the d-ring for the middle seating position.

This could lead to a loss of clamp load, which may result in loose wheel nuts. • Disc wheel spacers for aluminum wheels investigation # PE06013

  On june 9, 2006, volvo truck north america filed defect report 06v-213that directs dealers to replace the disc wheel spacer originally installed in 872 (*) model year 2004-2006 vhd vehicles equipped with aluminum wheels.The dealers will install a new disc wheel spacer manufactured by a different supplier.During the disc installation, dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace damaged wheel end components (hub, studs, and/or wheels). (*) the originally installed disc wheel spacer has been removed from an additional 274 vhd vehicles in response to vtnas service bulletin sp 771-003 issued in august 2005.

Dt: 2005 volvo s60 t5. The consumer stated the windshield has a glare from the dashboard which interferes with driver's visibility. The glare has been on windshield since the consumer purchased the car. There has not been any accident yet. The consumer contacted the dealership, and the dealership told the consumer to buy something from a store and paint the dashboard. The service manager told the consumer to put a piece of material on the upper part of the dashboard which would help with the glare. The consumer said he did not purchase a new vehicle to paint the dashboard and/ or to put a piece of material on dashboard. The dealership, is big dee dealership in elmsford, ny.*ak

The vehicle started shaking uncontrollably followed by a loud banging noise coming from the front. Consumer drove vehicle to the dealer, and mechanic determined that the transmission bolt sheared off, causing the transmission to drop down from the vehicle. Transmission needed to be replaced. *ak

While driving at 40 mph consumer felt vibration, and then noticed wheels rolling passed the vehicle. The brakes were applied, but failed to stop the vehicle. It coasted to a complete stop on its own. Vehicle was towed to the impound. The right rear duel wheel separated and came off. The second tandem wheel bolts broke, and the wheels started to separate. The third axle was whopping and bent, and the tires had bald spots where they were rubbing. Dealership wanted to replace the tire and rim, but not the axle.*ak
