Solution
Title (customer effect)
Diagnostic Trouble Code ( DTC ) P0194 - 00 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor ( RPS ),
Circuit Erratic, Intermittent - US17 ( GHG17 ) Emissions And Newer ( Common Rail
Fuel System ); Common Model Years 2017 And 2018
Cause
Model Year 2017, 2018 - US17 GHG Engines generate DTC P0194-00 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor ( RPS ) due to
corrosion on the sensor and wire harness terminals (Engineering equipment is needed to see the corrosion and the
fault code is the evidence). Due to the nature of the fault it may be difficult or not possible to duplicate the
symptoms.
Solution
For all active or in-active occurrences of this fault code complete the following process:
1. Replace the following parts:
• The Fuel Rail Pressure sensor
• The short internal wiring harness that runs between the connector on the lower section of the two-piece
valve cover and the pressure sensor, and the short internal wire harness on the 2-piece valve cover that
connects to the sensor.
Rail Pressure Sensor Harness
2. Secure the rail pressure sensor wire harness to the connector body with a cable tie to keep the harness away from the
valve train components that move during engine operation.
• NOTE: Ensure that there is enough slack in the wire that there is no tension on the wires and pins at the
connector when securing the cable tie.
