Solution K27690302 Tuesday, February 6, 2018 8:53:57 PM CET Solution Title (customer effect) Volvo Chassis - Diagnostic Trouble Code ( DTC ) P226C Intermittently Lighting The Malfunction Indicator Lamp ( MIL ) - OBD15 And OBD16 Conventional Chassis Cause OBD15 and OBD16 chassis may intermittently log DTC P226C. Solution Overview OBD15 and OBD16 conventional chassis may log DTC P226C during operation. The diagnostic process that this DTC sets for is the monitor of boost pressure change under sudden changes in engine load. The code is likely to set intermittently and it may be difficult or not possible to duplicate during diagnosis. Guided Diagnostics may result in No Fault Found (NFF). This issue is more likely to be observed in chassis with a 13L engine and a lower power rating, and chassis with dual torque engine ratings. This code will not affect performance or driveability. Repair Verify the chassis emissions level • Details can be found in the Product Details box on the Product tab in PTT as seen below: For OBD15 (Commonly Year Model 2016) Chassis ONLY: - Software improvements have been released to address this code. If P226C is present, software should be checked and updated as necessary. - Two modules are affected by this update and should be reprogrammed in the following order: 1. Engine Control Module ( EMS ) 2. Aftertreatment Control Module ( ACM ) - If there are other codes and symtoms present or the code(s) return following the software update, normal diagnostic procedures should be followed to determine the issue. For OBD16 Chassis: - EMS Software should be verified to be current - The DTC readout and customer complaint should be reviewed to ensure there are no other codes in the EMS or symptoms reported that may be related to P226C - Any other codes or symptoms should be diagnosed with normal procedures - If P226C is the only relevant code present and there are no symptoms to indicate an existing problem do not replace any components. • Code should be cleared and chassis released. This condition will be addressed in a future software release. EMS Software Levels (MSW) Affected: - OBD2015 (Truck MY 2016): 22741784.P01 or older software - OBD2016 (Truck MY 2017): 22898389.P01 or older software Internal comments (FO) ( FO ) Please refer to this additional related information: SP 284 - 065, XE Package, Mass Base Variable Torque Option, by clicking here.
