Bulletin No.: PI0969 Date: May-2013 Subject: High Oil Pressure on Startup After Engine Replacement Models: 1996-2002 Chevrolet Pickups and Vans 1996-2002 GMC Pickups and Vans 5.7L Engine (RPO L31) 5.7L Engine (RPO ZZ4 – GM Performance Parts Engine Only) with Package Date Between 13058 and 13066 Condition/Concern Some customers and/or technicians may comment on high oil pressure on initial startup. Oil pressure may exceed 100 psi. This high oil pressure can swell the oil filter can. The oil pump to pickup tube attachment may have been made with the wrong locking material. The material can get into the oil pressure relief valve and cause it to stick shut, driving the oil pressure high.
