• Recall 89919 [USA]: This condition may cause inadequate sealing and loss of engine oil, possibly resulting in a fire.
  Certain honeywell fram racing brand hp4 and hp8 oil filters that were manufactured from may 25, 2006, through september 14, 2007, and sold for use as replacement equipment for vehicles list above. The affected filters are marked with a date code a61451 through a72571 sequentially. The date code and part number appear on the filter housing. Fram racing hp4 and hp8 oil filters not bearing a date code in this range are not affected by this recall. The gasket of the oil filter becomes more pliable under high temperatures and pressures.
  honeywell will replace the affected oil filters free of charge. The recall began during november 2007. Owners can contact fram customer service toll-free at 1-800-890-2075.

• Recall 59947 [USA]: This condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak. in the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur.
  Certain replacement fuel filters, fram brand name p/n g3727, with date codes x52911 through x60801 sequentially or x600141 and a mexico country or origin marking on the fuel filter housing manufactured from october 18, 2005, through march 21, 2006, sold for use on the vehicles listed above and on certain school buses. (to see the school bus engine sizes, click on "document search" and then "bus applications"). The connector on the fuel filter was not manufactured to honeywell's specification. As a result, the o-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line.

• Recall 2000193 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  Certain 4wd vehicles equipped with sport package or off road chassis package do not comply with the requirements of cmvss 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. Fog lamps can be activated without the park lamps, tail lamp, and license plate lamps being activated in conjunction with the front fog lamps as required. Correction: dealers will install a jumper harness that turns on the required lamps when the fog lamps are activated.

• Recall 2000270 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, the body cross sill may contact the front, right-hand brake pipe. This could eventually wear a hole in the brake pipe over the normal life of the vehicle and result in a brake fluid leak. This could ultimately result in a partial brake system failure and increased stopping distances. Correction: dealers will inspect for brake pipe wear and replace worn section if necessary. A spacer clip will be installed to ensure adequate clearance.

• Unwanted low-speed abs activation investigation # PE05020

  In a letter dated august 29, 2005, gm notified odi that it was recalling certain model year 1999 through 2002 c/k pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles to correct a problem with anti-lock brake system (abs) wheel speed sensor corrosion that may result in unwanted abs activation and extended stopping distances during low-speed braking (recall 05v-379).Gms recall covers approximately 804,000 vehicles currently registered in the following 14 salt-belt states:connecticut, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, michigan, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, and west virginia.The recall procedure will involve removing the sensor, cleaning the mounting surface, applying a rust inhibitor (zinc-x) to the surface, and reinstalling the sensor.If necessary, the sensor will be replaced. The population and failure report data given in this resume are for the full region that has been considered by odi as the salt-belt.That includes delaware, iowa, maryland, minnesota, missouri, wisconsin and the district of columbia in addition to the 14 states included in 05v-379.The states covered by gms recall have the highest incident rates for the subject condition, accounting for 91% of the incidents, but only 24% of subject vehicle sales in the united states.Odis analysis determined that 840 of the complaints, 244 of the crashes, and 16 of the injuries identified in this investigation occurred in those states.The resulting incident and crash rates are 96.2 and 28.0 per 100,000 vehicles respectively (note:rates are based on vehicle sales, not registered vehicles). The corresponding numbers in the excluded portions of the salt-belt are 399,000 vehicles, 81 incidents (20.3 per 100,000 vehicles), 3 crashes, and no injuries.The statistics in the remaining 30 states are 2,406,000 vehicles, 168 incidents (7.0 per 100,000 vehicles), 31 crashes, and one injury.Gm and odi are continuing to monitor the problem experience in states that are not included in the recall.Gm will provide odi with updated complaint, field report, and warranty data in november 2005.Odi and gm will review that data and assess the appropriateness of the current scope of the recall at that time.

  There have been less than 2 complaints per 100,000 subject vehicles related to the alleged defect.The oldest vehicles (my 1999) have only 2 complaints in over 140 thousand vehicles after over 4 years in service.The rate of warranty claims potentially related to the alleged defect is less than 0.1%.There are no known incidents involving rapid loss of tire pressure or loss of vehicle control. A defect trend has not been identified at this time.Accordingly, this investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.The agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.

• Throttle sticking closed investigation # EA02015

  This investigation involves the general motors corporation (gm)throttle body (tb) utilized in model year (my) 1999-2002 silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, avalanche and yukon (subject vehicle(s)) with 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. The tb valve may intermittently stick in a closed position.In such a situation, an operator may apply additional accelerator pedal force to increase engine speed.The application of additional accelerator pedal force, to open a stuck throttle valve, may open the throttle valve more than intended and, in turn, accelerate the engine and vehicle more than intended and reasonably expected by the driver.On august 1, 2002, the office of defects investigation (odi), of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), opened this engineering analysis.The investigation revealed that two factors may cause the defect: 1) tb manufacturing process problems; and 2) accumulation of deposits (a pcv system by-product) on or around the tb throttle valve and bore.Odi concludes that the tb performs in a defective manner after analyzing gm?S data submissions, and test data collected by the vehicle research and test center (vrtc).Fifty-nine crashes are alleged to have occurred as a result of gm?S tb defect.The majority of the crashes involve a single vehicle, engaging in a close quarter vehicle maneuver (or low speed), and causing only minor property damage.Four out of the fifty-nine crashes involve injury, and those injuries were minor.Although gm?S tb is defective, based on the evidence gathered, odi has found that the accelerator pedal force required to open a stuck throttle valve is negligible, and the throttle valve does not stick in the open position.Therefore this engineering analysis (ea02-015) will be closed at this time.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.For a detailed discussion of the tb component and testing, please see the attached report.

• Seat belt anchorage separation investigation # PE01023

  Odi has received one (1) complaint alleging that the 2nd row passenger-side seat belt release buckle anchor detached from seat frame during a side impact crash.During the crash, the occupant was thrown from his seat, partially ejected through the rear quarter window of the vehicle.Occupant sustained injury.Gm has subsequently changed seat belt anchoring design in my 2000. Odi has completed a preliminary investigation and has determined that further information is needed to determine whether a safety defect exists.

The contact's son owns a 1999 chevrolet tahoe equipped with mickey thompson deegan 38 all-terrain tires, tire sizes 265/65/18. The contact stated that while his son was traveling at 25 mph, the left rear driver side tire blew out without warning. The contact's son was not injured. The contact stated that the entire sidewall had blown out from the tire. The contact's son was able to replace the tire with a spare. The contact had reached out to the tire manufacturer where they informed him that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 21t002000 (tires). The tire had yet to be replaced. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin was unavailable

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that his pitman arm was recently replaced and the clockspring was fractured and also needed to be replaced. The contact stated that since the pitman arm was replaced, the air bag warning indicator began to illuminate. The contact took the vehicle to maxie price chevrolet atlanta (3600 us-78, loganville, ga 30052, 770466-7000) and nash chevrolet (630 scenic hwy s, lawrenceville, ga 30046, 678-369-3889) and was informed that the parts to replace the clockspring were no longer manufactured. The contact's only option was to find a junk yard that may carry the replacement parts. The manufacturer was not notified and the air bag indicator continued to illuminate. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 191,000.

My 1999 chevy tahoe been giving me problems with the steering wheel snatching the wheel to one side of the road i have liked to wrecked twice because of this i had my tires changed thought it was that had the truck lined up still doing it i think this is a very important safety issue that needs to addressed before sombody gets hurt when the truck snatches it pulls like it out of limit bad but then go's back to its self i noticed it mostly does it in a turn around a curve while on the highway

Tl* the contact owned a 1999 chevrolet tahoe. While driving 35 mph, the contact had a head on collision with a light pole. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact was inured and received medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was totaled and towed to the contact's residence. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure, but did not assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

No pasa el smog

While driving with my family in the car and without warning, the car stopped moving. In the middle of an intersection it was as if it was in neutral. This was terrifying, then all of a sudden it felt like i was hit from behind and the car popped into gear and shot forward. I now have no reverse and unsure which gears might work, as i immediately got it home. I am a disabled veteran on a limited income and no am facing possibly huge expenses for transmission repairs that i now have read have been complaints on my car for years! I can't understand how gm/chevrolet doesn't see transmission issues as a safety problem. This transmission has had way too many complaints. Having no warning and the inability to be able to move the car in an intersection could have been catastrophic!! Alos when calling a local dealership they should be better informed about any tsb's as to inform consumers. I just thank god my family is safe, however am now out of a car. Thanks general motors/chevrolet, looks like youre losing another loyal customer.

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 chevrolet tahoe. While driving various speeds, the brakes would seize and release without warning when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the vehicle shook violently. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the abs failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

99 tahoe - several times repeatidly - hit brakes- suv starts stopping then brakes pule & no stop-several times came so close rear ending vehicle in front due to pulsing brakes not stopping !!!!!Called chevrolet on recall bulletin - says not my vehicle !!!! I get into accident -will be sueing chevrolet with bulletin recall but nothing done !!!! Say' out of my pocket !!!!!
