Issue: Some 2011-2016 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a lack of power
and/or illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299 in the powertrain
control module (PCM). This may be due to the charge air cooler (CAC) outlet tube assembly becoming
disconnected at the throttle body or a separation at the CAC tube crimp clamp. To resolve this concern, follow
the Service Procedure steps to replace the CAC outlet tube assembly.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following
criteria:
• 2011-2016 F-Super Duty
• 6.7L diesel engine
• Lack of power and/or only DTC P0299 setting in the PCM

Service Procedure
1. Replace the CAC outlet tube assembly. (Figures 1-2)
NOTE: The replacement CAC outlet tube assembly comes as one piece and is replaced as one piece.
(1). Disconnect the end of the CAC outlet (upper) tube (Figure 2 Callout 1) from the throttle body.
(2). Loosen the clamp (Figure 2 Callout 2) and disconnect the CAC outlet (lower) tube from the CAC.
(3). Discard the old CAC outlet tube assembly and install the new CAC outlet tube assembly. To install,
reverse the removal procedure.
(4). Tighten the CAC outlet (lower) tube clamp to the CAC as shown on Figure 2 Callout 2 to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
(5). Connect the CAC outlet (upper) tube to the throttle body by pressing the end of the tube into the front of
the throttle body until a click is heard.
