PC-01.12.2016 TECHNICAL BULLETIN BULLETIN #: 05UPF250SW DATE: 1/12/2016 RE: 05-16 Ford F250 / F350 4WD Vehicles with Steering Wheel Oscillation In monitoring our technical service inquiries and technical service bulletins from Ford, there is the potential for moderate to severe steering wheel oscillation (wobble) to occur. After extensive testing and outside feedback, the following details have been established to correct or prevent steering wheel oscillation occurrences in lifted 05-16 Ford Super Duty 4wd pickups: Alignment: recommended caster settings between 2.5 to 3.5 degrees. Pro Comp p/n 599, eccentric adjusters will be needed to make caster adjustments, since the factory upper ball joint inserts do not offer provision for adjustment. Steering and Suspension components: worn out shock absorbers (lack sufficient damping), loose or worn out tie rods, ball-joints and track bar can contribute to a steering wobble. Make certain these parts are within service limits. It is also critical that the pitman arm nut is tightened to the torque specification of 350 ft/lbs. Tire Pressure: will be subject to specific owners load requirements, tire choice and factory tire pressure sensor specifications. Proper adjustments to tire pressure can also reduce the tendency to wobble. Example: Pro Comp 35 x 12.50 -18 Xtreme A/T with E load range has a maximum pressure recommendation of 65psi for maximum load requirements. Under normal operating conditions without load, 50psi is sufficient. Dual Steering Stabilizer: a properly installed dual stabilizer kit will provide the final defense against potential steering wheel wobble. Use Pro Comp p/n 222582 or 222582Z.
