Summary
NOTE: Provide a copy of this TSB to the Parts Department Manager, Body Shop Manager and all
other Dealership personnel that may require this information.
Issue: 2015-2018 Edge, 2016-2018 MKX vehicles equipped with active front steering (AFS) may require
additional service when replacing the driver airbag using certain part numbers only and/or if replacing the
restraints control module (RCM). In addition, some vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
U2300 stored in the RCM if the correct programming procedure was not followed.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps on vehicles that meet the following criteria:
• One of the following vehicles:
- 2015-2018 Edge
- 2016-2018 MKX
• Vehicles equipped with active front steering (AFS) only
• At least one of the following conditions:
- Driver airbag is being or has been replaced for any reason with any of the part numbers
listed in Step 2 of the Service Procedure
- RCM is being or has been replaced for any reason
- Possible DTC U2300 stored in the RCM

Service Procedure
1. Is the RCM being replaced for any reason?
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 3.
(2). No - proceed to Step 2.
2. Is the driver airbag being replaced for any reason using one the following part numbers?
• HA1Z-58043B13-DF (Lincoln MKX - Cappuccino)
• HA1Z-58043B13-DG (Lincoln MKX - Hazelnut)

• HA1Z-58043B13-DH (Lincoln MKX - Ebony / Black)
• HA1Z-58043B13-DJ (Lincoln MKX - Indulgence)
• HA1Z-58043B13-DK (Lincoln MKX - Muse)
• GT4Z-58043B13-GB (Ford Edge - All)
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 3.
(2). No - proceed to Step 4.
3. Reprogram the RCM using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool.
Proceed to Step 4.
4. Run an All Continuous Memory DTC (ALL CMDTC) check with the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan
tool. Is DTC U2300 present?
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 5.
(2). No - repair is complete.
5. To resolve the U2300 DTC, the RCM and body control module (BCM) require updated as-built data.
Contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to receive instructions on how to correctly program the
updated as-built data into the RCM and BCM.
