REPAIR OVERVIEW
If water is dripping on the
driver side carpet after
going through car wash:
If the HVAC blower
is noisy:
Remove the blower motor and
clean out all foreign debris
Remove the cowl top cover
and front wiper drive
assembly, and clean out all
foreign debris in the cowl area
Install the COVER-AIR INTAKE
(See PARTS INFORMATION)
Is the vehicle equipped
with wiper pivot filters?

Install the
wiper pivot filters
(See PARTS INFORMATION)
Reassemble the vehicle

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
For vehicles with a noisy HVAC blower, remove the blower motor, clean out all foreign
debris and then reinstall it. If there was no customer comment of noise, skip to step 2.

2.
Remove the cowl top cover and front wiper drive assembly.

3.
Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM): Section VENTILATION, HEATER
& AIR CONDITIONER > VENTILATION SYSTEM > REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION > BLOWER MOTOR.
Refer to the ESM: Section DRIVER CONTROLS > WIPER & WASHER >
REMOVAL > AND INSTALLATION > FRONT WIPER DRIVE ASSEMBLY.
Clean out all foreign debris in the cowl area and the area around the HVAC intake
where shown in Figure 1.

Remove the tab shown in Figure 3, as shown in Figure 4, from the COVER-AIR
INTAKE (see the PARTS INFORMATION on page 7).

Apply SEALER – REAR COM (Butyl tape seal) to the COVER-AIR INTAKE as shown
in Figure 5 (see the PARTS INFORMATION on page 7).

Clean the surface around the HVAC intake, where shown in Figure 6, with a 90%
mixture of isopropyl alcohol with water.

Install the COVER-AIR INTAKE to the HVAC intake:
a. Insert the larger hooks of the COVER-AIR INTAKE onto the lower edge of the
HVAC intake opening, and then slide the COVER-AIR INTAKE down to engage
them.
b. Snap the small clips into the top edge of the HVAC intake opening by pressing
the COVER-AIR INTAKE toward the rear of the vehicle.
NOTE: A 90% mixture of isopropyl alcohol with water can be sprayed onto the butyl
tape seal to allow the COVER-AIR INTAKE to be quickly positioned, before the butyl
tape seal adheres to the HVAC intake surface.

Install a wiper pivot filter on each wiper pivot, if not already equipped (see Figure 8).

9.
See the PARTS INFORMATION on page 7.
Reassemble the vehicle in reverse order of disassembly.
Make sure to install both wiper pivot filters. If the wiper pivot filters are not
installed, debris may enter the HVAC blower inlet and cause the blower motor to be
noisy.
