  • Pedestrian alert sounds investigation # DP22005

    Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

  • False automatic emergency braking investigation # PE19010

    Nhtsa received a defect petition (dp19-001) from the center for auto safety (cas) on march 21, 2019 alleging that the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system on model year (my) 2017-2018 nissan rogue and rogue sport vehicles was engaging in cases where there was no obstruction in the path of the vehicle. The cas petition additionally alleges that, based on nissans actions, the manufacturer is aware of the issue due to issuing a technical service bulletin (tsb) launching two "quality actions," and initiating a "customer service initiative" in relation to it. Cas contends that nissans actions do not represent an adequate long-term solution to the problem, as the action is only available during the basic coverage period of the warranty. Cas also argues that the alleged failures are an unreasonable risk to safety and views nissans communications as not acknowledging the potential safety issue involved, instead treating the alleged problem as a performance update.The office of defects investigation (odi) analyzed vehicle owner questionnaire (voq) complaints received from consumers and identified a total of 129 unique subject vehicle reports (for all submission dates) alleging a false positive triggering of aeb. Of these complaints, three were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system, and all three indicating related injuries.In response to odis april 15, 2019 information request letter, nissan provided data indicating that it has received 750 unique subject vehicle complaints relating to false positive activation of the aeb system. Of these complaints, 12 were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system. Four complaints contained allegations of injuries, three of which were the result of a collision. These complaints included duplicates of complaints that odi received. The injury allegations were limited to soft tissue type injuries such as whiplash and bruising.Based on its review of the information identified to date, odi has granted the petition and is opening this preliminary evaluation in order to evaluate the cause, scope and frequency of aeb false positive activations, as well as to evaluate the suitability of the manufacturers campaign to address the concern or improve performance of the aeb system. At 19000 miles my 2019 rogue sport stopped registering my gas level electronically. At the same time i started having random sudden flashes if bright light from the electronic dash lasting for a couple of seconds. I also started experiencing random issues with the climate control and entertainment controller. Both will at times just start adjusting themselves and randomly turning themselves on and off. Went to local dealership and was told that there were no issues they could find. Was told however that per a nissan service bulletin that as far as the gas reading i am not following appropriate fueling and i need to burn more fuel before i fill up. Funny that i have had no issues in the year and a half that i have car yet i have not changed my fueling routine. Was told i was on my own when it came to the other issues as they could not make a diagnosis. I also find it funny that they have a service bulletin for what the state is my fault. This bulletin shows me that others are experiencing the same thing. Appears they would rather wait for my warranty to expire so it will be more profitable for them.

With no prior issues, while accelerating from a full stop, the aeb system engaged on a clear roadway. I was traveling no more than 20 mph. The front collision warning beeped, warning lights on the dashboard flashed, the abs rumbled and slowed my vehicle. There was absolutely nothing on the roadway to trigger this. It was daylight and the road was dry and clear. There were no vehicles, pedestrians or even animals in my path. Had there been another vehicle behind me, i could have been rear ended. I've made an appt at the dealer and will have this looked into asap.

The high beam assist feature of vehicle is malfunctioned and yes it's available for inspection upon request. If the vehicle speed is above 40mph the high beam is turning off and setting the low beam by default even if there are no vehicles insight. In the night the vehicle will be always in low beam mode and hence affects the visibility in the night putting in high risk. No, the problem hasn't been confirmed or reproduced by the dealer. No, the vehicle or component hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warning lamps.

The contact owns a 2019 nissan rogue. The contact stated that the forward collision avoidance sensor would active independently while driving at various speeds. During the malfunction, the forward collision avoidance warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where she had the fault code was cleared from the system. The contact called a dealer and was informed that the vehicle might have collided with an object for the sensor to illuminate. The contact insisted that the vehicle had not struck an object. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000

Had the car for less than 2 years and the fuel temperature sensor caused my check engine light to come on research shows that previous models were recalled due to a faulty fuel pump which is the way you repalce that sensor ive owned cars for much longer and never needed to replace the fuel pump on them a brand new car outside of warranty of course and already needing work done that costs several hundred dollars close to a grand - hands down the worst vehicle ive ever owned its stopped in the middle oftraffic before but of course dealership couldnt replicate that - the radio cosntantly unsyncs with devices never plays right i have to turn it off and turn it back on all in the same trip just to keep playing music everything from the purhcase of the vehicle to owning it has beena nightmare and apparently a costly one at that

I have experienced sudden acceleration, and sudden stalling on the highway, cobb pkwy, and at a zaxby's restaurant when i was driving my car on four or more occasions. I almost hit a car last week when my car suddenly accelerated. I steered my car to the right next to a curb to avoid a collision. I almost got hit by a car on cobb pkwy. When my car suddenly stopped on me while i was driving. I had my two autistic daughters in the car each time these events occurred. We were very scared each time this happened. This has happened to many other people who own nissan rogues and pathfinders. I think a recall should be issued on these cars before someone dies. Prayerfully, no one has died from these issues.
