PNP Switch Out Of Self Test Range
DTC P1715, sometimes indicated as P171500 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a manufacturer-specific fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the causing pnp switch out of self test range.

2017 NISSAN ROGUE
My 2017 Nissan Rogue is still under factory warrant and i purchased an extended warranty. On 9/30/2019 my Nissan Rogue was missing and stalling so i took it to my mechanic (alpine automotive inc., 5495 w. Mississippi ave. Lakewood, co 80226. A diagnostic was run on this vehicle producing code P1715 input speed sensor primary speed po776 oil press solenoid b. Found service bulletin ntb16-11ol that indicated the vehicle needs a valve body and reprogram. Unfortunately this mechanic deleted the codes and this has hindered getting my transmission fixed under warranty because Nissan will not work on my vehicle until they get a code from their diagnostics. This is putting me in harms way because i operating this vehicle which is defective, stalls at stop lights and will not accelerate unless i floor board the accelerator. I have called Nissan headquarters and they will not return my phone calls, even though i have opened up a case with them. As this vehicle deteriorates, i am going to be in danger driving this vehicle. Can you please intervene and help. My complaint is not against alpine auto, but Nissan headquarters as they will not allow the repairs to the transmission because they cannot see the codes when they do a diagnostic. There is documentation that these codes indicate a repair is needed and Nissan is allowing me to drive a defective vehicle and putting me in harms way. I am attaching the invoice from alpine automotive inc. Which clearly indicates the codes found. My vehicle is in my garage.

2014 NISSAN VERSA NOTE with 373.0 miles
Pulling away from a toll booth on i-80, car would not accelerate. Check engine light. Towed to dealer at owner's expense, pulled tran codes P0500, P1574, P1715, P1720 and P0720. Only had car for 5 days. After 17 days at dealer, replaced 2 sensors, 31935-1xf00 sensor asmy-rev (n/c) 1 31935-1xf01 sensor asmy-rev at recommendation of Nissan tech line. Dealer was unable to replicate the problem prior to repair. This was a life threatening occurrence, car would not accelerate while pulling into traffic.

2011 NISSAN ALTIMA with 39400.0 miles
2011 Nissan Altima sr sedan 3.5 cvt. When driving, cvt goes into safe mode with reduced acceleration, indicating a transmission issue and would also trigger vehicle dynamic control system fault.. Original engine code was P0175. Had mechanic replace 31935-1xf00 speed sensor assy. Problem was not corrected. Took to local dealer and was told needs new transmission control module unit $850 and new transmission $3,500. Only 39,400 miles on vehicle (60,000 mile powertrain) but past he 60 month warranty by 5 months. Nissan will not cover. Nissan na consumer affairs contacted, researched and also denied. Will not cover and will not provide any partial assistance. Car is in excellent condition, driven lightly and no way transmission should need to be replaced at 39,000 miles. Manufacture date of vehicle is dec 2010. Nissan extended cvt warranties to 10 years / 120k miles for several years because of the same and other cvt issues. Stopped extended warranty for 2011 models. Don't know if car is safe to drive or if transmission is going to fully fail. Took vehicle back from dealer, can't afford to fix. Now trying to replace transmission control unit with used same year/model. When vehicle is completely disconnected, trouble codes cleared and all electrical drained, then reconnected, all issues disappear for 10 to 20 miles of perfectly normal driving, then issues recur with cvt fail safe mode and vdc fault. Nissan should be recalling this issue and correcting it!! Again don't know if vehicle is safe to drive or if transmission is going to fail in the middle of getting onto highway in heavy traffic? Dealer diagnostic showed a number of codes: P0175 input speed sensor a (even though it has been replaced and new), P1700 cvt c/u funct, P1715 in puly speed, U1000 can comm circuit and also told the tcm is not sending a signal.

2007 NISSAN ALTIMA with 120704. miles
Scanned vehicle codes were: P1715, P1574 and p720. All three codes are for the transmission speed sensors. Primary and secondary speed sensors. Both were replaced because of burnning or rubbing due to improper spacing. New spacers were added along with new sensors. Total cost for parts only were- $445.13! Additional fees were the labor and sensor washer, bringing the whole invoice to $762.83! This was a fault from the manufacturer.
