Please discard previous versions of this bulletin. APPLIED VEHICLES: 2018 Altima (L33) 2019 Altima (L34) 2018-2019 Kicks (P15) 2018-2019 Rogue (T32) 2018-2019 Rogue Hybrid (T32H) 2018-2019 Rogue Sport (J11) SERVICE INFORMATION When key registration is unsuccessful after BCM replacement, P161D (Immobilizer) may set when the ignition is turned on. Possible causes: Improper key registration Defective Electronic Power Steering (EPS) control unit (Kicks with Dongle only) Defective Dongle (All Applied Vehicles with Dongle except Kicks) Defective Intelligent Key control unit (Kicks only) Defective BCM (All Applied Vehicles except Kicks) NOTE: Dongles are installed ONLY on Canadian market vehicles. Trouble Diagnosis NOTE: If DTC B2196-52 is stored with P161D, perform the diagnosis procedure for DTC B2196-52 first. Before replacing the BCM, confirm that the keys were programmed correctly by ensuring the vehicle will start and that the lock/unlock buttons function normally. If any keys do not function normally, re-register all of the keys. After re-registering all of the keys, reconfirm each key’s function. If OK, erase the DTC to complete the repair. If NG, diagnose the Intelligent Key, Intelligent Key control unit, Dongle, BCM and/or EPS control unit per the Electronic Service Manual (ESM). Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/2 AMENDMENT HISTORY PUBLISHED DATE REFERENCE DESCRIPTION January 29, 2019 NTB19-008 Original bulletin published April 26, 2019 NTB19-008a Revised Possible causes and Trouble Diagnosis February 9, 2021 NTB19-008b Classification number updated 2/2 NTB19-008b
