• Recall 237549 [USA]: A rearview camera that does not properly display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2021 altima and 2020-2021 sentra vehicles. Damage to the camera harness can cause distortion or loss of the rearview camera display image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 111, "rear visibility."
  dealers will inspect the rearview camera and harness for damage and replace them as necessary. If no damage is found, the dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed october 19, 2023. Owners may contact nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. • Recall 151872 [USA]: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 nissan altima, armada, frontier, kicks, leaf, maxima, murano, nv, nv200, pathfinder, rogue, rogue sport, sentra, titan, titan diesel, versa note and versa sedan vehicles, as well as infiniti q50, q60, qx30 and qx80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 nissan gt-r and taxi and infiniti qx50, qx60, q70, q70l vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 111, "rear visibility."

• Recall 144050 [USA]: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2019 altima vehicles equipped with front wheel drive (fwd) and 2.5 liter engines. The fuel pump lock ring may not be fully engaged, possibly causing fuel to leak. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 301, "fuel system integrity."
  nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel tank assembly. If the lock ring is disengaged, dealers will tighten the ring to specification. If the lock ring is detached, dealers will replace the fuel pump. Both remedies will be completed free of charge. The recall began may 15, 2019. • Recall 133020 [USA]: If the retainer clip is unlocked, the fuel tube may shift and cause a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire. if the fuel tube fully disconnects, the engine can stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Nissan north america, inc (nissan) is recalling certain 2019 altima vehicles. The retainer clip connecting the low pressure fuel tube to the high pressure fuel pump may not have been locked into position.

• Recall 2021140 [Canada]: Tires
  Issue: certain vehicles were built with tires that may have been cured too long. As a result, the sidewall could crack or the tread and belts could separate. This could lead to a sudden loss of air pressure and could cause a tire failure. Note: this recall only affects certain continental tires, with specific date codes and mold numbers. Safety risk: a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: nissan will notify the owners by mail and instruct them to take the vehicle to a dealer to inspect and replace the tires, if necessary.

• Recall 2019459 [Canada]: Visual system
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the rear view camera system does not return to the default setting when the transmission is shifted to reverse. This could cause a reduction in rear visibility if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display. Canadian regulations require that the rear view image returns to its original setting each time the camera is turned on. Safety risk: reduced rear visibility could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the rear view camera.

• Recall 2019156 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the brake light switch may not be in the correct position. This would result in the brake lamps staying on at all times. This could also allow the transmission to be shifted out of the park (p) position without applying the brakes. Safety risk: shifting out of park without applying the brakes could cause unintended vehicle movement. If the brake lights stay on, a following driver may not recognize when a vehicle ahead is braking. Either of these outcomes could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the brake pedal assembly. The assembly will be replaced as required.

• Complete loss of motive power due to engine failure investigation # PE23023

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has identified six (6) vehicle owner questionnaires (voq) and multiple field reports (fr) alleging engine failure, loss of motive power, engine knock or noise and/or metal chunks and shavings found in the oil pan of nissan north america inc. (nissan) vehicles equipped with both the kr15ddt and kr20ddet engines.  the only model nissan has manufactured with a kr15ddt engine is the rogue.  nissan manufactured 3 models equipped with the kr20ddet engine.  these models include the altima, qx50, and qx55.  both the 3-cylinder, 1.5-liter kr15ddt, and 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter kr20ddet engines are unique in that they use a variable compression ratio that allows for high power output and high fuel efficiency at the same time. Based on an analysis of the voq and fr data, odi has identified three (3) vehicle models with elevated variable compression engine failure rates.  these includes 2021-2023 nissan rogue equipped with kr15ddt engine; 2019-2021 nissan altima; and 2019-2021 infinity qx50, both equipped with the kr20ddet engine.  during discussions with nissan, odi learned that they have attempted to address main bearing and l-link damage/seizures on the kr15ddt and kr20ddet engines by introducing multiple manufacturing processes changes over time. A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency, and consequences of these variable compression engines.  additionally, odi may expand the scope of the subject population during the investigation, if needed. • Hertz/vehicles rented with open recalls investigation # AQ22003

  Nhtsa is opening this audit query to investigate whether the hertz corporation (hertz) has complied with the requirements of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act (safety act). The safety act requires, among other things, that a rental company shall not rent a vehicle subject to a safety recall unless the recall remedy has been performed. 49 u.S.C. ? 30120(i).Nhtsa is in receipt of information that indicates hertz rented vehicles to customers without having performed required recall repairs. Accordingly, we are opening this audit query to seek additional information concerning this issue.

The transmission failed /malfunctioned. It’s available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk when the vehicle stalled at a traffic light or in the middle of traffic. Took the vehicle to autozone to be scanned and they confirmed it was the transmission. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer yet because i would have to paid between $200-350 to have the vehicle towed to the dealership where the vehicle was purchased which is two hours away. The local dealership charges $130 to diagnosis my vehicle. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. The cvt message appeared on my dashboard after the vehicle stalled and would not accelerate more than 5 miles or would not move at all upon acceleration of the gas. In addition to the current transmission issue, i have also had the brake light switch adjusted twice. The failure of the brake light switch drained the vehicle battery resulting in having the battery replaced as well.

The windshield was randomly cracked without having any impact marks. The car was parked with no cracks on a sunny day and i came to my car within any hour to a cracked windshield. The issue is well know with these vehicles. I have plenty of pictures for evidence as well. Below are pictures of people with similar problems

The contact owns a 2019 nissan altima. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating. Additionally, there was an odor of burning rubber. During the failure, the vehicle would not immediately stop while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the passenger’s side rear brake caliper was faulty and that the entire rear braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 46,593.

Driving at maybe 10 -15 mph in an empty parking lot about to park and car aggressively brakes for no reason. Completely startled and unsettled me its a good thing no one was behind me.

Upper left side wind shield. I went to kill a mosquito and pushed it up against the windshield with my hand and the windshield cracked. It was very little pressure.

Vehicle has noise from rear differential . Dealership confirms the noise is the rear electric cuppling . Dealership states no recall or warranty for this concern . The 2019 nissan rouge which utilizes the same awd system , including the same electric cuppling with the exact same part number has an open & active recall , yet nissan has chosen to not recall the altima . Dealership states they suspect "there's not many awd altimas to cause a recall." the fact that both vehicles utilize the same exact awd system including the same cuppling with the same part # should warrant a recall across all vehicles utilizing that system , not just one .

The automatic emergency braking system continuously brakes and slows the car down when driving. One particular incident happened on 6/15/2021 when i was travelling at 45mph and there we cars behind me. The system beeped as if it detected a crash and then stop the car. There were no other cars in front on me and i almost got into an accident because of the sudden braking. There were no warning lamps, messages, or anything else that would prompt the vehicle to immediately break. It has done this 3 more times in the last two weeks and its hazardous to me and other drivers on the road. Now every time i put my vehicle in drive it says aeb malfunction and the vehicle no longer detects forward collisions or any passengers. I haven't taken the vehicle to the dealership yet; however, i had an oil change and when the dealer inspected my vehicle they said everything was in good shape. I'm not sure how this was missed.

The contact owns a 2019 nissan altima. The contact stated while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle lane sensor activated on its own and pulled the vehicle towards the right lane where the driver was going towards the oncoming vehicle. The driver was able to force the vehicle back to the center lane and continue to drive to their destination, however, the failure reoccurred multiple times. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer who inspected the vehicle and turned off sensor from car the lane sensor electronic feature from the vehicle. We have no lane sensor to use. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000.
