• Recall 247383 [USA]: Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 rogue and 2017-2022 rogue sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.
  dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed march 29, 2023. • Recall 208733 [USA]: A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2017-2019 rogue hybrid vehicles. The hydraulic brake booster assembly may overheat internally, resulting in a loss of power brake assist. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 135, "light vehicle brake systems."
  dealers will replace the hydraulic brake booster supply unit, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed september 22, 2022. A second letter will be mailed october 31, 2022. • Recall 151861 [USA]: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 nissan altima, armada, frontier, kicks, leaf, maxima, murano, nv, nv200, pathfinder, rogue, rogue sport, sentra, titan, titan diesel, versa note and versa sedan vehicles, as well as infiniti q50, q60, qx30 and qx80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 nissan gt-r and taxi and infiniti qx50, qx60, q70, q70l vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 111, "rear visibility."
  nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began november 11, 2019 and all affected vins should be activated. • Recall 2019459 [Canada]: Visual system
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the rear view camera system does not return to the default setting when the transmission is shifted to reverse. This could cause a reduction in rear visibility if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display. Canadian regulations require that the rear view image returns to its original setting each time the camera is turned on. Safety risk: reduced rear visibility could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the rear view camera.

• Recall 2019090 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: in certain driving situations, a metal structure like a railroad crossing or overhead sign could cause the automatic emergency braking system (aeb) to activate when it is not needed. If this happens, the system would provide a collision warning. If the driver takes no action, the vehicle could slow suddenly or come to a complete stop. Safety risk: if the aeb system activates with braking when no potential collision is present, it could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will send a letter to owners to explain this issue. Owners will be informed that a software update is available for the aeb system. This update can be installed at a dealership at no charge to the owner.

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

• False automatic emergency braking investigation # PE19010

  Nhtsa received a defect petition (dp19-001) from the center for auto safety (cas) on march 21, 2019 alleging that the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system on model year (my) 2017-2018 nissan rogue and rogue sport vehicles was engaging in cases where there was no obstruction in the path of the vehicle. The cas petition additionally alleges that, based on nissans actions, the manufacturer is aware of the issue due to issuing a technical service bulletin (tsb) launching two "quality actions," and initiating a "customer service initiative" in relation to it. Cas contends that nissans actions do not represent an adequate long-term solution to the problem, as the action is only available during the basic coverage period of the warranty. Cas also argues that the alleged failures are an unreasonable risk to safety and views nissans communications as not acknowledging the potential safety issue involved, instead treating the alleged problem as a performance update.The office of defects investigation (odi) analyzed vehicle owner questionnaire (voq) complaints received from consumers and identified a total of 129 unique subject vehicle reports (for all submission dates) alleging a false positive triggering of aeb. Of these complaints, three were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system, and all three indicating related injuries.In response to odis april 15, 2019 information request letter, nissan provided data indicating that it has received 750 unique subject vehicle complaints relating to false positive activation of the aeb system. Of these complaints, 12 were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system. Four complaints contained allegations of injuries, three of which were the result of a collision. These complaints included duplicates of complaints that odi received. The injury allegations were limited to soft tissue type injuries such as whiplash and bruising.Based on its review of the information identified to date, odi has granted the petition and is opening this preliminary evaluation in order to evaluate the cause, scope and frequency of aeb false positive activations, as well as to evaluate the suitability of the manufacturers campaign to address the concern or improve performance of the aeb system. My cars automatic brake system engaged twice now. The first time i was driving and the brakes were slammed on and a car had to swerve hard to avoid me. Just now going 70mph on the freeway with my two kids in the car out of no where the brake assist kicked on and my car stopped. Luckily it kicked off right after and no harm done. I feel so unsafe now .

While driving wheels locked up once with flash warning, one with sound warning. Happened twice within one week of each other. No obstructions in front of or behind me. Wheels locked up with no injuries. Took to dealer for diagnostic testing ($149.00) with no findings/codes to explain locking of wheels.

On june 10, 2021, i was driving my vehicle preparing to merge on the interstate to go home when all of a sudden the aeb warning light activates and i cannot not safely drive my vehicle. My vehicle speed would not increase above 3mph. I had the vehicle towed to my home. Today i contacted the dealership requesting that they have my vehicle towed for service and a loaner (as this is my only means of transportation) and was informed that i would be responsible for the tow, that it would be 3 to 4 days before they could run diagnostics and they have no loaner. My reality is if i had merged onto the interstate and this happened, i could either be dead or lying in the intensive care unit.

Front end collision at 40mph, no braking/warning, no air bags deployed

While driving at speeds between 30-40 miles per hour my 2018 nissan rogue suddenly brakes with no warning. I did not touch the brakes and there was no other vehicle in front or behind me. These incidents really scared me. This sudden braking has happened six different times between november, 2020 and june 2021. I took it to the dealer(nashville downtown nissan) to repair it when it first happened. They said that they fixed the problem free because it was under the 30,000 mile warranty. Four months later the the car suddenly braked at 40 miles per hour twice within a 3 day period may 27,2021 and may 30, 2021. Around june 1, 2020 i took my 2018 nissan rogue back to nashville downtown nissan to repair the sudden braking problem again. They wanted to charge me $2,000 because it was no longer under warranty. I said that i did not have $2,000. So they told me to pay $182 for checking it. Now i drive my 2018 nissan rogue in fear of someone crashing into me. Nissan should be ashamed for letting this problem persist without offering a recall.

It started braking by itself while i was driving 65 mph on the freeway. Scary sh**. This happened 7 times before i was able to get safely home. It happened even when slowing to 30mph. And the brake lights do not go on when this happens, my boyfriend was following me. I’m shocked there has not been a recall for this after reading online of other complaints and lawsuits. Huge safety issue. This isn’t a bad water pump issue it’s a peoples lives issue. I called nissan and opened a case with them (case # 43890104) for the issue and to try to get my $165.00 back that i had to pay my local nissan dealer. Although nissan is going to reimburse me the $165.00 i paid, i strongly feel it needs a recall for this issue. People need to be aware that their lives are in danger. Please help. Make nissan do the right thing and do a recall.

Forward breaking light keeps coming on for no reason

Several times during normal driving on the highway, the braking system activates for no reason. Once pulling into my garage at 5mph. Once leaving my driveway at 0 mph and twice on the highway going 60+ mph

My 2018 nissan rogue has had the auto brakes (aeb) kick in and cause my car to come to a complete stop on multiple different occasions when there was no hazard, car or pedestrians in the road. It has happened on at least five separate occasions and the last three times i was barely able to avoid being rear ended. It has happened on side streets, highway and on interstate roads on various speeds from 30 mph to 75 mph. This is a very dangerous situation and needs to be remedied without charge to customers. We purchased this vehicle so we would have a safe car to drive our children in and this is impeding on the safety standards of this otherwise great vehicle.
