Engine over-speed warning comes on during a downshift when engine =>2000RPM for 1 second.
Chassis Affected
T680s and T880s MY2013 through MY2017 built from 01/24/2014 through 11/24/2015 with a PACCAR MX-13 and PACCAR
MX-11 Engines and Eaton UltraShift PLUS transmission.
All T2000s, T660s, T700s, T800s, and W900s MY2011 through MY2017 built after 2/08/2010 with a PACCAR MX-13 and MX11 Engines and Eaton UltraShift PLUS transmission.

If a customer comes into your dealership and demonstrates the condition above on T680 or T880, reflash the Cab Electronic
Control Unit (CECU) and the Instrument Cluster with the latest software. On T2000, T660, T700, T800, and W900’s, disable
the engine over-speed warning light. Use the procedure below.
Warranty
Through Standard Warranty (includes Extended Warranty), Kenworth will pay applicable labor:
0.3 hours labor to reflash the CECU and Instrument Cluster Software with ESA and, where appropriate, disable the
over-speed warning light. (a long claim must be filed)
File an additional claim for extraordinary circumstances. A claim for standard labor must be filed first.

Background
Over-Speed Warning Change History:
T680 and T880 before any fixes:
2000 RPM – (no delay) “Engine Speed Warning – Up Shift or Slow Down”
2150 RPM – (no delay) “Engine Over-Speed – Up Shift or Slow Down"
2300 RPM – (no delay) “Max Engine Speed Exceeded – Service Required” with chime, clears with long key cycle (no
faults on engine side).
T680 and T880 ESA software update released April 2015:
Must be over 2000 RPM for 5 seconds before 1st warning will pop up, other warnings remain the same.
T680 and T880 ESA software update released November 2015:
Completely removes 2000 RPM warning, other warnings remain the same.
For T2000s, T660s, T700s, T800s, and W900s, in which the software update has not been released yet, when released it will
completely remove the 2000 RPM warning, other warnings remain the same.
Procedure
T680-T880 Reflash CECU and Instrument Cluster Software:
Verify the current CECU software is version P30-1011-129 or greater. If it is not follow the procedures below

Connect the computer to the vehicle with a Data Link Adapter (DLA)
Open ESA
From ESA home screen, click Connect.
Click Program.
Under All tab find parameter called “Engine Over Rev Warnings”, change it to disable.
Click program in top right, wait a few seconds for message to say programming finished.
