Case Number: S2123000011 Release Date: 02/20/2021 Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Rattle Tapping Fluttering Noise From A Pillar Or Dash Driving At Highway Speeds Customer Complaint/Technician Observation: Rattle, tapping, fluttering noise from the dash or front of the vehicle when driving at highway speeds. May sound like the noise is coming from the windshield. Noise could be from either left or right front door area. Discussion: Inspect the A-pillar weather strip at the bottom inside corner of the door panel for a loose/distorted condition (fig 1). If any damage is found to the weather strip- replace and re test. If the noise is gone- repair is complete. If noise is still present, tape off the weather strip and test drive to verify that the noise goes away and that the weather strip is the source of the noise. Ensure weather strip retaining pins are fully engaged and installed properly. Use a small dab of black weather strip adhesive applied to the joint between the door shell and weather strip to secure the lowest tip to the door to prevent fluttering (fig 2).
